Chapter 15
Lingxiao said nothing, turned around and shielded Shiran behind him, his back to her, his voice as cold as ever: "Put on your clothes!"
Clothes? What clothes? Shiran only then looked down at herself.
The sheer gauze clung to her like a second skin, tracing her graceful curves, glowing with a soft sheen in the dim candlelight, droplets still dripping from her temples, falling onto her bare skin, tracing her collarbone, rising and falling, vanishing into the hollow between her breasts, stirring the imagination.
This damned pure-and-sexy outfit!!! Shiran's face suddenly flushed crimson—she felt nothing wearing it in modern times, could even dance in it, but this was ancient times! Shiran wanted to cry but had no tears, and forgot the umbrella demon, scrambling to find clothes!
"Sister! Where are you going?" The umbrella demon saw Shiran trying to leave, suddenly spun the umbrella handle, and a red flower on the white umbrella shot out! "You can't leave me!"
"Dragon's Chant!"
Lingxiao shouted, Dragon's Chant Sword sweeping like a flying dragon straight at the red flower: "You're my opponent!" Lingxiao swung Dragon's Chant to slash the flower while he himself leapt forward to grapple with the umbrella demon!
Shiran's clothes were already soaked through; the cold wind made her shiver involuntarily, pouting: "Senior Sister, I'm so cold!"
"Let you freeze to death!" Meiruo rubbed her forehead, feeling her temper rising these past days, nothing like the icy female cultivator she once was: "I can't get out either—figure it out yourself!"
"Ah!" Shiran sighed, picked up the crumpled pink dress from the ground, pouting: "But these can't be worn anymore, Senior Sister! Senior Sister~~ I'm so cold~~"
Meiruo: Enough already—did I owe her in a past life?
"Senior Sister~~"
"Alright, alright!" Meiruo flicked a finger, deciding to push the trouble onto her master: "There's something in the master's Momentary Treasure Ring—go find him!"
Shiran's eyes lit up—so the master collected women's clothing too! She pattered over, shouting at Lingxiao: "Master, my clothes are all wet—get me a nice set to wear!"
Lingxiao's hand trembled, giving the umbrella demon an opening—it turned into a white umbrella and shot toward Shiran, while the red flower simultaneously became a giant blood net, tightly ensnaring the Dragon's Chant Sword.
"Mom!" Shiran felt her vision go white, her mind blank.
"Sister!" The umbrella demon's hoarse voice made Shiran open her eyes—only to see endless gray rain pouring from the overcast sky.
The master had one arm around her waist, the other gripping the umbrella handle, frowning slightly as he looked at her—they were so close Shiran could see Lingxiao's long, thick lashes and his deep, star-sea eyes, close enough to hear his heartbeat, each beat overlapping with hers…
"With the enemy at hand, your thoughts are impure!" Lingxiao suddenly shoved Shiran away, flung the umbrella aside, the golden immortal mark on his forehead flashing—Dragon's Chant Sword broke free from the blood net and returned to his hand.
Shiran, who had stumbled and fallen unprepared:!!?? _?? She had it wrong—she didn't even know who Lingxiao was!!
A stranger tossed her a piece of clothing; Shiran pulled it down from her head, about to yell, but the garment's beauty stole her breath.
Even in the dim rainy night, its splendor shone through—like stardust fallen to earth, or seven-colored glass woven into brocade, the sleeves flowing with visible galaxies, dazzling to behold.
Shiran couldn't put it down, whispering to Meiruo: "Senior Sister, this dress is so beautiful!"
Meiruo's thoughts raced a hundred ways, having no desire to share—she only sighed: "Here, just wear it—do you really want to freeze to death?"
Shiran lowered her head, smiling faintly, quickly pulling on the dress—only to discover it would shrink and shift to fit her size, and carried a faint spiritual energy that nourished her body.
Shiran was stunned: "Senior Sister! Senior Sister! You you look, this this this…"
Meiruo rolled her eyes: "Lucky you—this is the Tianli Glass Robe!"
Shiran of course knew this was the Tianli Glass Robe— in the original text, Lingxiao had struggled to obtain this ancient artifact; ordinary blades couldn't scratch its wearer, it was cool as gauze in heat, warm as fur in cold.
Most importantly, this glass robe could absorb heavenly and earthly spiritual energy, continuously supplying the wearer, and could also resist the Nine Abyss Demon Flame that appeared later in the original.
But such a treasure wasn't hers! Shiran flustered, tongue-tied— in the original, this robe was meant for Meiruo!! Why give it to her? Did she still have to fight the Demon Lord alongside the original male lead?
After Shiran changed, the battle on the other side was ending—what could a mere umbrella demon possibly do against Lingxiao?
The umbrella demon had two ribs torn out by Lingxiao, a red flower broken, kneeling on the ground, pitiful—yet Lingxiao's eyes remained calm; he was about to unleash the Seventh Layer of Yao光 Floating Dream to eliminate future threats, when the demon suddenly dropped its frenzy and burst into loud laughter.
"You dare hurt me?" The demon's jade-and-flame visage wore utter certainty: "Do you know what consequences follow from harming me?"
Lingxiao said nothing, as Shiran stepped forward from behind him: "I don't care what consequences!" She kicked out, her foot landing on the demon's shoulder: "Dare threaten my master—you're asking for a beating!"
Lingxiao frowned, grabbing the bouncing Shiran: "Where did you learn all this nonsense?"
His indulgent tone directly sent a lurking soul and dragon flying.
Meiruo: What's up with that? Can't see a thing!
Fantian: Hmm, learned something!
The umbrella demon, kicked in the face, wore utter disbelief—she, a great demon who had cultivated nearly a thousand years, had never been kicked!
It really happened—she got kicked! Even if this person resembled her sister, it still wouldn't be allowed!
The umbrella demon, furious, laughed bitterly, glaring at Shiran: "Do you know what consequences harming me will bring to this Rain-Soaked Town?"
"No! Wrong! They'll all have their blood congealed into my umbrella ribs—no chance of reincarnation!"
The town's population numbered at least tens of thousands; Lingxiao's gaze lingered on the demon a moment: "Are you the formation's eye?"
"Yes… and no!" The demon strained to rise, but Lingxiao had taken her most vital umbrella rib, leaving her weak: "Do you know what this formation is called?"
"The Dual-Star Ninefold Formation! This is an ancient great formation!"
She even felt a bit proud: "What can you do to me?"
Dark clouds tumbled in the sky like a pack of uncontrolled beasts, tearing at each other, emitting low growls.
The rain grew heavier; the umbrella demon's smug face kept replaying in Shiran's mind—NND! Still couldn't do anything to her!
Shiran snatched the Dragon's Chant Sword, flicked her finger—before Lingxiao could react, she had pressed her fingertip to the demon's forehead.
Heaven and earth changed color!
Umbrella demon: ………
Lingxiao sighed, sheathing the Dragon's Chant Sword.
Fantian bounced in Shiran's mind: "Shiran, you're letting this broken umbrella sit as an equal to this Seat? Ah ah ah ah ah ah!"
Meiruo had nothing to say, clapped twice with both hands!
