Chapter 115: Chat Group Upgrade
The next morning, in the world of Frellien.
Lin Yu sat on the crystal throne in the castle’s front hall, gazing at the empty red carpet before him and said:
“Ling Hua, connected?”
“Yes, True Lord.”
A clear, ethereal voice emerged from the air.
The next instant, beams of light materialized out of nowhere, weaving into the form of an elf woman dressed in a steward’s uniform.
“Reporting to True Lord,” the elf woman said respectfully, “your teleportation gate is extremely stable; the signal connects seamlessly to the castle. I can also sense all the magical devices within the castle.”
“This sensation is astonishing—as if some unknown medium in the air can link with me flawlessly…”
“That’s called a mana particle,” Lin Yu said with a smile. “And here, call me Lord.”
Ling Hua placed her hand over her chest and bowed slightly. “Yes, Lord.”
Lin Yu nodded, stepped down from the throne, and looked at Ling Hua. “Since you’re connected, I’m entrusting you with the castle’s management. I have other matters to attend to—familiarize yourself first.”
With that, Lin Yu vanished in a flash.
Ling Hua bowed slightly and said respectfully, “Yes!”
…
…
Meanwhile, at the North Gate of the Inner City of Spine Peak.
Su Haoming and Wol stood beneath the gate, sighing as they gazed at the three before them.
“Frellien, you’re leaving already? It’s only been ten days.”
“My master is eager to depart—I can’t stop her.”
Frellien stroked her silver hair and muttered, “I actually like it here. If I could, I’d stay for decades, even centuries…”
“Frellien!”
Vlamé shot her an annoyed glance, then sighed. “I know elves have a loose sense of time, but don’t you understand the spirit of the contract?”
“Don’t forget—we made a prior agreement with the Second Prince. We don’t have time to linger here!”
Frellien thought for a moment and sighed. “You’re right—we still have to go to the Unified Empire…”
…The Second Prince?
Su Haoming blinked, his expression odd.
Vlamé noticed his expression and raised an eyebrow. “Mr. Su, is something wrong?”
Su Haoming snapped back to himself and shook his head. “Nothing. Lately I keep hearing that name—it’s giving me a twitch.”
Vlamé was surprised. “You know the Second Prince?”
Su Haoming smiled, about to explain, when a familiar voice suddenly echoed in his ear.
“He does know a Second Prince.”
Lin Yu materialized from silver light, walking toward them with a smile. “But not the Second Prince of the Unified Empire.”
“Lord!”
Wol and Dai Meng both bowed respectfully to Lin Yu.
Frellien thought for a moment, then bowed as well.
Vlamé paid no mind to such formalities and chuckled teasingly:
“You finally decided to show up? I thought you’d vanished for good!”
“How could that be!”
Lin Yu shook his head and explained with a smile. “Some matters at the castle delayed me a bit.”
Vlamé nodded, understanding, then turned to Su Haoming. “By the way, we’ve known each other for days now, yet I still don’t know your origins. Is the Second Prince you mentioned from your homeland’s imperial family?”
Su Haoming thought for a moment and nodded. “Something like that.”
Vlamé smiled. “So your background isn’t ordinary after all!”
Su Haoming gave a dry laugh and said nothing.
Lin Yu smiled and stepped in to smooth things over. “From what I know, the Unified Empire’s First Prince was defeated and lost power; the Second Prince seized the opportunity to court the nobility, and his reputation has grown steadily. You’ve been betting on him for ten years—now’s the time to reap the rewards, isn’t it?”
“Exactly!”
Vlamé chuckled lightly. “Though the Emperor hasn’t yet agreed to spread magic across the entire empire, he’s already relented under the Second Prince’s persuasion to allow limited dissemination.”
“This trip to the imperial capital is to discuss the possibility of formalizing it.”
“If all goes well, the Unified Empire will establish the position of Court Mage—and I will be the empire’s first Court Mage…”
Here, Vlamé paused and grumbled, “Come to think of it, I’m so busy because you’re too lazy. If you’d just expanded Spine Peak’s territory, I wouldn’t have to go through all this trouble!”
“…Is that so?”
Lin Yu rolled his eyes, unamused. “You say that, but if I truly intended to rule human civilization, you’d be the first to oppose me.”
“….”
Vlamé thought for a moment and sighed. “True. Between the survival war between humans and demons, I’d rather not see you and the Goddess spark a divine war—honestly, that would be the true apocalypse.”
Hearing this, Frellien and Dai Meng both froze, then realized the gravity of it, relief washing over them.
Yes—compared to an apocalypse-level divine war, the conflict between humans and demons meant nothing.
…Thank goodness. Thank goodness the Lord has a detached nature and no desire to expand his faith or territory. Otherwise, just a war between the Immortal Clan and the Goddess Church could turn the entire continent upside down!
“Lin, you’re right—I spoke foolishly.”
Vlamé smiled. “Let humans handle their own calamities.”
Lin Yu smiled and let the topic drop, turning to Dai Meng. “Have you been to the Guard Station?”
Dai Meng bowed quickly. “Yes, Lord. The brothers still recognize me as captain—they welcomed me warmly and even upgraded my gear. It made me feel rather ashamed…”
Lin Yu laughed. “No need to feel guilty. Protecting Master Vlamé and her disciple is the mission I assigned you.”
Dai Meng’s expression hardened. “I swear to protect Master Vlamé and Miss Frellien with my life!”
Lin Yu shook his head. “No need to be that extreme. I’ve already updated Vlamé’s holy scripture. If you ever face a powerful enemy, run first—avoid getting caught in the scripture’s magic.”
This trip to Spine Peak had brought Vlamé and her companions many valuable gains.
Aside from the updated holy scripture from Lin Yu himself, they purchased protective talismans, magic scrolls from the Immortal Clan, and had their staffs upgraded by the Magical Device Research Institute.
They’d gone from a bamboo spear to a cannon—significantly strengthened.
After giving his final instructions, Lin Yu smiled. “There are many Immortal Clan members in the imperial capital—most of them own alchemical wristwatches. If you run into trouble, use the watch to seek their help.”
“Understood.”
“Then, farewell.”
“Yes, farewell.”
Vlamé waved cheerfully, then turned and led Frellien and Dai Meng away.
Lin Yu watched them depart, then turned to Su Haoming. “Rest early tonight. Don’t forget what we discussed.”
Su Haoming understood, smiling. “I won’t forget, Brother Lin!”
At these words, Lin Yu nodded and vanished in a flash of silver light.
“Finally gone!”
Su Haoming stretched, then turned to Wol, who had remained silent beside him. “Wol?”
Wol finally reacted, turning to him. “What is it, Mr. Su?”
“I’m fine… but you seem off.”
Su Haoming studied him curiously. “I didn’t notice earlier, but given your aggressive nature, you shouldn’t have stayed so quiet when we talked about divine war!”
“Tell me—what’s going on?”
“….” Wol was silent for a moment, then shook his head. “Nothing. I just didn’t want to bring up that topic.”
“Really?” Su Haoming said, surprised. “You’re famous for being radical!”
“Saying that proves you don’t know me well enough.”
Wol glanced at him, then shook his head. “In front of the Lord, I never bring up such topics—because the Lord doesn’t need faith; we need the Lord.”
With that, he turned and walked away, leaving Su Haoming standing there, utterly bewildered.
…
…
That night, Su Haoming returned early to his inner universe and waited quietly in Jade Moon Hall for the countdown.
Soon, it was the second day of the chat group. The five members all sent messages, uploading pre-prepared files and rapidly accumulating today’s activity points.
It had been twenty days since He Jing entered the group.
It had been twenty-three days since the chat group’s upgrade.
The members had finally gathered enough activity to meet the target for the next stage.
In fact, under full attendance, the second-stage task could have been completed in just twenty-one days.
But Lin Yu had been in seclusion for five years and missed several days in the group.
Fan Xian and the others also had their own affairs and failed to reach full activity for a few days, causing the deadline to be delayed by two days.
“Stage goal detected as achieved. Unlocking new group function…”
“Group function [Live Broadcast] unlocked. Welcome all members to try it out!”
Live Broadcast?
In the Wheel of Rebirth Pavilion nearby, Lin Yu raised an eyebrow. He didn’t immediately check the newly unlocked Live Broadcast interface, but first examined the stage task in the upper-right corner of the group files.
【Activity: 4200 (20084/40000)】
【Contribution Points: 52753 (68421/20000)】
The previous activity target was twenty thousand; it has now increased to forty thousand.
……So it really is doubling?
Lin Yu frowned; if this trend continued, the data growth would become absurd, and someday it might double to the point where one level took centuries or millennia to achieve.
Forget it, take it one step at a time—at least the current goal isn’t that outrageous.
Lin Yu opened the group chat interface and found messages scrolling wildly—
【Xiang Yunye: This group livestream is interesting—it seems like a completely new way to earn points!】
【Su Haoming: More than earning points, I’m interested in its cross-world livestream function.】
【Su Haoming: This method seems even more extraordinary than a teleportation gate, doesn’t it?】
【Fan Xian: I think it’s a good thing—the livestream feed staying active means the group chat remains continuously connected to the world.】
【Fan Xian: With Brother Lin’s methods, shouldn’t he be able to use this opportunity to find our world faster?】
