Chapter 136: Large-Scale Update

~9 min read 1,709 words

【Non-Self Sword Qi (Non-Self Sword Qi)】

【Skill Level: lvMax (Cannot Be Upgraded)】

【Skill Description: Attain the state of Non-Self through comprehension of Primordial Qi; the Dao disperses into Qi, Qi disperses into Non-Self (Self); all things return to their root, revert to my original source.】

【Skill Effect: Greatly increases base attack power and attack power of Sword Qi skills; all energy is converted into Non-Self Sword Qi, and when expelled, the Sword Qi can transform into Sword Energy.】

Of course!

The skills Lin Lie failed to obtain when he switched to Sword Soul were due to insufficient prerequisites.

These prerequisites need not be confined solely to DNF’s worldview—they can incorporate power systems from other realms.

Gazing at the system prompt in his mind, Lin Lie could not help but beam with joy.

What delighted him most was not the externalized Sword Qi, but the phrase: “All energy is converted into Non-Self Sword Qi.”

As the system-stream protagonist of the Marvel world, his inner power was incredibly complex: not only did he possess the system’s blue bar, the power of the Fuxi Sword, the demonic god energy in his right arm, but also fragments of Chiyou’s energy.

Many disparate power systems coexisted within him; though they enriched his arsenal, they could not synergize, resulting in extremely low energy utilization efficiency.

Now, no matter what kind of power it was, the system had transformed it all into 【Non-Self Sword Qi】.

Not only had its quality and quantity surged dramatically, but energy utilization efficiency was no longer comparable!

At that moment, the room’s door was pushed open, and a tall, slender girl with long black legs burst in, swiftly scanning the room with caution, confirming no intruders, then frowning at Lin Lie.

“...What’s going on?”

“Nothing. Just made slight progress in cultivation and couldn’t fully control the power.”

Lin Lie rolled off the bed and said gently, “Sorry, Shuangshuang, I worried you.”

Ji Shuangshuang frowned slightly, thought for a moment, then sat down, crossing her arms. “Since you’re here anyway, explain—where’s this helper you mentioned?”

“It’s been how many days? I still haven’t seen him show up here...”

Lin Lie was uncertain. “Brother Yu should still be at Kamar-Taj!”

Ji Shuangshuang shook her head. “He’s not at Kamar-Taj.”

Lin Lie asked, puzzled. “How do you know?”

Ji Shuangshuang replied as if it were obvious. “The Sorcerer Supreme told me herself!”

Lin Lie was surprised. “Aren’t you the one she refuses to see?”

“Who said that?”

Ji Shuangshuang shot him a glare. “She doesn’t want to see you—I’m just the one dragged along with you!”

She paused, then couldn’t help complaining: “I always said it—Kamar-Taj has always been on good terms with my clan; the Sorcerer Supreme is even a lifelong friend of my grandmother, the clan chief. How could she refuse to see me?”

...Lifelong friend?

Lin Lie blinked, his expression turning peculiar.

Ji Shuangshuang tapped the table with her fingers, serious now. “Regardless, you only have one day left before the great battle you mentioned... what exactly are you planning?”

Lin Lie thought for a moment, murmuring, “Kamar-Taj has clearly stated they’ll provide backup. S.H.I.E.L.D. has also received our warning. But I don’t believe they’ll halt their research on the Cosmic Cube.”

“Besides, the Sorcerer Supreme herself told me this battle can only be delayed—it’s ultimately unavoidable...”

“Then there’s nothing we can do!” Ji Shuangshuang sighed, then asked, “Will you join forces with S.H.I.E.L.D.?”

“No need!” Lin Lie smiled. “I have my own people.”

“Oh?”

Ji Shuangshuang raised an eyebrow, skeptical. “That female designer with the last name Lei?”

Lin Lie’s smile froze, then turned bitter. “Of course not. I only worked with her once—never contacted her privately!”

Ji Shuangshuang glared. “Lin Lie, do you really think I’m the kind of woman who can’t tell what’s important?”

“This is a global event affecting the entire Earth—more allies are always better. If you have the connections, bring as many lovers as you want—I won’t care!”

“That’s not fair!” Lin Lie grimaced helplessly. “Besides you, where would I even have a lover?”

Ji Shuangshuang froze, then blushed furiously, stammered a few words, and fled the room like a startled deer.

Meanwhile, at the end of the hallway, a female cleaner, hearing the commotion behind her, lifted her head and casually glanced at Ji Shuangshuang’s retreating back.

After a moment’s thought, she gathered her tools and wheeled her cart to the storage room.

After a quick disguise, the unremarkable cleaner transformed into a mature, sexy, curvaceous redhead.

Though her facial features differed only slightly, her aura and mannerisms had undergone a complete transformation.

Even a colleague who had worked beside her for half a month would not recognize her at first glance.

Dressed in a trench coat and leather pants, the redhead slung her bag over her shoulder and walked calmly out of the storage room. Soon after, she left the four-star hotel and entered the underground parking lot.

Pulling out her car keys, she pressed a button. An unassuming red sedan immediately chirped.

The redhead walked toward the sound, entered the car, closed the door, and retrieved a phone from beneath the seat. She dialed a number and relayed all the intelligence she’d gathered over the past two weeks.

After listening, the voice on the other end fell silent for a moment, then said slowly: “Conclusion?”

The redhead answered without hesitation: “Either hysteria, or truth.”

“So no lying?”

“At least, I can’t detect any.”

“Then it’s fine.”

The voice on the other end said firmly: “Notify Coulson. The Dark Energy Operation is temporarily suspended. Wait until after the date mentioned by the Fuxi Sword’s master before considering whether to restart.”

Restart?

The redhead frowned. “The target said this battle can only be delayed—it’s unavoidable.”

The voice replied coolly: “That’s exactly my point... Earth is humanity’s Earth. Even if war is inevitable, it must unfold on our terms!”

After hanging up, the redhead—or rather, S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Natasha—frowned, gazing out the window with concern.

She understood Director Nick Fury’s intent—but... wasn’t it too late to halt the plan now?

Meanwhile, after sending away his “lover” Ji Shuangshuang, Lin Lie immediately opened the chat group.

【Lin Lie: Brothers, good news!】

【Lin Lie: The Marvel large-scale update “Avengers” is about to launch. Three Infinity Stones will converge in New York. Any interest?】

【Su Haoming: I’m in!】

【Xiang Yunye & He Jingfeng: +1】

【Fan Xian: But we’re just small fry—can we even survive in that world?】

【Xiang Yunye: Even Black Widow and Hawkeye became Avengers. We should be fine too...】

【Fan Xian: Really?】

【He Jingfeng: As long as we don’t provoke Thanos, crushing Chitauri grunts is more than enough!】

【Su Haoming: Exactly! What’s to fear?】

【Su Haoming: I finally reached Qi Cultivation Level 7—I’ve been waiting for a real battle!】

【Xiang Yunye: What?】

【Xiang Yunye: Already Level 7?】

【Su Haoming: Hehe, barely broke through.】

【Fan Xian: Old Yun, why’d you ask? Now he’s showing off!】

【Li Shimin: Level 7 means late-stage Qi Cultivation, right?】

【Su Haoming: Correct!】

【Li Shimin: Brother Su, you’re truly impressive!】

【Li Shimin: I recall that late-stage Qi Cultivators recover energy rapidly, can unleash over a hundred basic spells consecutively, and even master one intermediate spell—they’re true Immortal Masters who can crush human waves head-on!】

【Su Haoming: Not that impressive—I’ve just entered late-stage and mastered only one intermediate spell. Far from being able to ignore human waves...】

【Li Shimin: Too bad—I’ve just entered Level 1. I’ll miss this battle.】

【Xiang Yunye: No problem. There’ll be plenty of chances later!】

【Su Haoming: Honestly, just coming to observe is fine too—aren’t we still got Brother Lin?】

【Lin Lie: Bad news—Brother Yu hasn’t shown up today. Don’t know where he vanished to.】

【Su Haoming: Huh?】

【Su Haoming: Isn’t he at Kamar-Taj?】

【Lin Yu: He is at Kamar-Taj.】

【Lin Yu: But not the one you think...】

【Everyone: ...?】

【Lin Yu: Kamar-Taj has a secret technique called the Dimension Door, capable of connecting parallel worlds and crossing multiverses.】

【Lin Yu: I recently learned it and tried it—ended up in another parallel universe. I won’t be able to return for a while.】

【Lin Lie: Huh?!】

Seeing this, Lin Lie’s eyes widened. Ignoring the terrifying talent implied, he hurriedly asked: “So the New York battle is on us alone?”

【Lin Yu: Not necessarily.】

【Lin Yu: I’ll ask the Sorcerer Supreme here—he might have a solution.】

After replying, Lin Yu closed the chat group. His consciousness surged like a tide, sweeping across Kamar-Taj until he found the white-bearded Ancient One giving Strange a private lesson.

Seeing the sly master and pupil in the room, Lin Yu blinked, sending a mental voice:

“Giving him extra lessons?”

“Boom!”

A deafening sound exploded within Wong’s mental realm.

He couldn’t help frowning, poking at his ear, and sighing, “The Book of the Emperor of Weishan contains a far safer method of mental communication. Can’t you bother to learn it?”

“With this crude method of transmission, anyone else would’ve been turned into a fool by now!”

“No problem, I’ll learn it,” Lin Yu replied offhandedly, then asked, “But more importantly, does your Supreme Sanctum hold the Wotumbo Wand?”

Wong immediately grew wary: “What do you intend to do?”

Lin Yu said bluntly, “Something’s happened in the neighboring universe. I plan to return there tomorrow or the day after, so...”

“No!” Wong snapped, his face darkening. “Now that you’ve mastered the Dimensional Gate, can’t you just go back yourself?”

Lin Yu sighed. “I’ve only just mastered it. Each opening requires at least three to five days of cooldown—I simply don’t have the time!”

Wong said without hesitation, “Then let me send you back!”

Lin Yu hurriedly said, “Such a small matter—why trouble the illustrious and mighty Supreme Sorcerer?”

“So you plan to borrow my artifact?”

Wong grumbled, “You really aren’t shy, are you?”

Lin Yu’s eyes lit up. “So you really have it?”

Wong declared firmly, “Even if I do, I won’t lend it!”

Lin Yu sneered. “So stingy?”

“Stingy?”

Wong rolled his eyes. “Do you have any idea how precious the Wotumbo Wand is?”

“There are only five of these in all dimensions!”

“Do you understand the value of a limited-edition artifact across the multiverse?”

“Compared to it, the Infinity Stones are common as dirt!”
