Chapter 76: Special Effects Immortal

~8 min read 1,458 words

This luxury yacht was the smallest under Number Three’s ownership, with a displacement of about 18,000 tons.

He chose a smaller yacht because this trip carried fewer people; aside from the supermodels and maids used as cover, the entire vessel held only about forty individuals.

These forty were all Number Three’s trusted loyalists.

Among them, seven had cultivated Qi; the rest were elite among ordinary humans, armed with specially modified firearms, making it easy to eliminate weaker cultivators.

In terms of raw power, these men were far from Number Three’s top tier, but their loyalty was absolute.

If Number Three gave the order, they would carry out even a suicide mission without hesitation.

Similarly, when Number Three told them they would now serve Bai Yujing, they asked no questions and immediately defected to Youming Pavilion…

After roughly eight hours of sailing, the yacht finally reached the sea zone designated by Number Two.

Number Three had already arrived on deck, leading his men as they gazed at the horizon.

At this point, the ordinary people used as cover had obediently returned to their cabins, swallowed the specially formulated sleeping pills, and fallen into a deep, thirteen-hour slumber.

Soon, a speedboat appeared in their line of sight, racing toward the yacht.

Number Three reached out, took the binoculars from one of his loyalists, glanced at the approaching vessel, then whispered to Lin Yu beside him: “That’s Jiao Lang—a well-known enforcer under Number Two, his strength comparable to a Saint-class assassin.”

Su Haoming nudged He Jingfeng and whispered with a grin: “About your level!”

“Far from it!”

He Jingfeng’s expression remained blank: “When I first started out, I killed ten Jiao Langs like him every year.”

Su Haoming blinked: “That brutal?”

Number Three quickly added: “When I say strength, I mean direct combat. Saint-class assassins excel in stealth kills—especially Lord Sheng Feng. His assassination techniques are the finest among all Saint-class killers. Jiao Lang is nothing!”

“...” He Jingfeng’s lip twitched twice. He muttered under his breath to Su Haoming and the others: “How did I never notice how good this guy is at sucking up?”

Lin Yu smiled and whispered: “Enough talking—they’re almost here!”

Before he finished speaking, the speedboat had already drawn close to the yacht.

As the speedboat docked alongside, Number Three turned to his loyalists, gave them a few quiet instructions, then straightened his suit and calmly boarded the speedboat, leaving with Jiao Lang.

A young man in a suit who spoke Chinese bowed slightly and said respectfully: “As agreed, we will proceed to the designated location to monitor Number Two. Will you gentlemen accompany us, or remain here?”

Lin Yu answered without hesitation: “I’ll go with you. The rest of you can act on your own.”

All four froze: “Huh?”

Lin Yu glanced at them: “What, you thought you’d just sit back and reap the rewards?”

Su Haoming snapped out of it and hurried to say: “Of course not—we just weren’t told about this beforehand!”

“It’s not too late now!”

Lin Yu smiled: “I’ve already scouted the surrounding waters. Including our yacht, there are five ten-thousand-ton vessels and eighteen smaller ships.”

“The largest vessel and all the smaller ones belong to Number Two—he brought them for security of the meeting ship. The other three large ships were brought by Numbers Four, Five, and Six—they’re here to monitor Number Two’s solo movements…”

Xiang Yunye asked: “What about Number One?”

Lin Yu pointed beneath his feet: “His ship is down below.”

Su Haoming’s eyes widened: “A submarine?!”

Fan Xian stared at He Jingfeng in shock: “Even a submarine? Is God’s Spear really this powerful?!”

He Jingfeng’s face darkened, expressionless: “Don’t look at me—I didn’t know about this.”

Lin Yu smiled: “Anyway, I’ll set up a Qimen formation and stay aboard the yacht. The submarine and the high-ups are my responsibility. The rest of the ships and personnel? That’s your mission.”

He added with emphasis: “Don’t go too hard on them—these people and ships will become Youming Pavilion’s assets soon.”

Is this about going easy or not?

They exchanged glances, bitter smiles: “Brother Lin, you’re overestimating us. This is a fully armed modern military force—do we even have the right to hold back?”

“Don’t worry—I’ll help you.”

Lin Yu grinned: “This is our first collective appearance. We must make it flashy.”

“If only I acted alone, they’d never believe in Bai Yujing—they’d just think I’m some impossibly strong cultivator. But if we all act together, it’s different!”

“As the saying goes: strength lies in numbers. Power is always more convincing the more people you have.”

“Only when you all act together will they believe Bai Yujing truly exists.”

God’s Spear’s power is too vast. Lin Yu couldn’t—and wouldn’t—brainwash them all. So showing them the mystery and might of Bai Yujing was necessary.

Five rootless immortals appearing means there might be fifty more hiding behind them.

A completely unknown immortal faction naturally carries more deterrence than a single immortal!

Seeing them agree, Lin Yu stomped his foot, unfolding a massive Qimen formation spanning a hundred li.

The Eight Gates opened; the four members were instantly teleported away, hiding on three large ships and one medium-sized vessel.

Soon after, the luxury yacht reached its designated position.

Lin Yu looked up and immediately spotted three large ships at different positions on the horizon.

In the sea enclosed by the four large ships, a humble raft floated alone.

The raft was fitted with comfortable loungers and sun umbrellas; a burly Russian old man lay on it, sipping an unknown-brand drink, lazily enjoying the sunshine.

This was Number Two…

Lin Yu studied him with interest.

According to Number Three’s intel, his real name was Thomas Klimov, a former KGB agent who, while undercover in North America, was corrupted by capitalism and became a double agent.

After the Soviet Union collapsed, he stayed in North America with Number One’s help. Publicly, he was a world-famous private military contractor, owning two private military companies: one specializing in elite units, maintaining three mercenary squads of twenty men each; the other focused on war contracts, employing over a thousand direct staff and indirectly mobilizing over four thousand mercenaries through subcontracting.

Setting aside his double-agent past, his skill and audacity were undeniable.

Too bad Lin Yu wasn’t impressed—he’d probably have to brainwash him later…

Thinking of this, Lin Yu shifted his gaze, crossing dozens of nautical miles, to the location of God’s Spear’s high-level meeting.

It was a luxury yacht with its own restaurant; no security personnel were present except the five high-ranking members.

Beside it, however, moored a clearly military-converted vessel, surrounded by numerous smaller support ships, each packed with technicians and armed personnel.

Mobilizing so many ships and personnel would be impossible in the normal modern world.

But this was a world of cultivators. In North America, Behemoth was even more extreme—they could mobilize an entire aircraft carrier strike group under corporate authority!

Compared to them, God’s Spear was just a minor operation…

Soon, the meeting on the yacht officially began, and all factions grew tense.

Sensing nearly a thousand distinct mental fluctuations within the Qimen formation, Lin Yu smiled.

“Let’s begin!”

Instantly, the submarine hidden beneath the sea was engulfed in thick black mist, and all communications between the ships were severed.

Especially the three large ships surrounding Number Two—they had already locked onto the raft and were ready to attack, but the next second, their launch and targeting systems completely failed.

Panic erupted across all three ships.

“What’s going on?!”

“Is this Number Two’s doing?!”

“Damn it, does he want to die?!”

On Number Four’s ship, his loyalist and heir slammed his fist on the control panel and roared: “Fire immediately! Kill him!”

The order was given—but the naval guns remained silent.

Lin Yu had already destroyed their ammunition feed systems and drive mechanisms, and jammed the external armor of the turrets. Now, they couldn’t fire—or even repair them.

In an instant, all three large ships were thrown into isolated chaos.

…Really going to act now?

Watching the chaos aboard the ships, Su Haoming took a deep breath.

The next moment, his expression hardened—he revealed himself without hesitation.

Just as he prepared to strike the nearest armed personnel, a brilliant golden light erupted behind him.

Su Haoming turned in shock—behind his head, a golden halo had appeared; his suit shimmered with gold, and even his long black hair floated upward, bathed in light.

No—his hair wasn’t the only thing floating. His feet had quietly lifted from the deck.

His entire body hovered three meters above the water, conspicuously visible to all.

Is this the help Brother Lin promised?

What kind of special-effects immortal!

Su Haoming stared wide-eyed at his own transformed appearance.
