Chapter 151: The Urge to Survive
This is a volume theoretically impossible to rotate, but what if one end is always lighter than the other?
The magic girl who controls gravity did not reduce the weight of the entire sphere—that was impossible—she only needed to make the downward slope slightly lighter.
The principle of a seesaw played out repeatedly: the gravity differential caused tilt and displacement, and displacement generated inertia—thus, the "wheel" began to turn.
At this moment, the sphere resembled a waterwheel spinning faster and faster under the pressure of weight ahead.
"Boom!"
Naturally, the massive boulder accelerated, faster and faster.
"If it hits directly, even a dragon will become dragon meat patty."
It's hard to say whether the geography of the underground world limited its effectiveness; in the underground plains where subterranean cities existed, the volume was larger and the terrain flatter.
This allowed the boulder to crush everything with ever-greater momentum.
The authorities over gravity and direction were, in fact, generating inertia and kinetic energy ex nihilo!
Li En watched the destructive battlefield before him; the mind flayers blocking his path had used everything they had, yet still could not resist this simple, absurd "physical mass."
At this moment, he realized he had underestimated the greatest danger of the Beasts—their terrifying power was never their immensely strong bodies, but their innate privileges.
The privilege of rewriting the laws of physics as Children of the World!
"Let there be light." And light appeared.
"Heaven and earth inverted." And gravity's direction overturned.
With this authority and their accumulated battlefield experience from history, anything bizarre they could devise was possible.
In a sense, they resembled spellcasters, yet were purer. Didn't someone once say that a spellcaster who manipulates "rules" is a completely different strength depending on whether they prepared beforehand?
With sufficient preparation, a spellcaster's combat burst could double—or even multiply tenfold—yet the Beasts' authority over rules was even less rational than a spellcaster's "magical rules."
Li En considered the possible abilities of the mind flayers—mostly mental powers—and it seemed like a dead end, but…
"Hum!"
Antlers suddenly erupted from the earth, radiating eerie light.
As the energy gathered, it coalesced into a single point, then exploded into a beam of light!
It struck the boulder without obstruction.
Perhaps this was the only solution.
Facing a well-prepared authority, brute force was like tearing apart an oncoming truck with bare hands.
Responding to authority with authority was the only logical solution.
"Crack."
But the "forced braking" Li En expected did not occur.
On the contrary, its speed increased further.
"Mistake? No—it was intentional."
It didn't stop; it accelerated—but its direction had shifted slightly.
Perhaps now the deviation was minor, but when it reached above the nest, it would just barely graze past.
"So that's it—direct resistance is meaningless; it can't be stopped anyway. Better to nudge it sideways."
When gravitational authorities clashed, the best outcome was mutual cancellation; even if this rolling boulder lost its authority's boost, it would still need a long distance to stop—and by then, it would still be a hammer smashing an egg.
So it further amplified its opponent's authority, but halved the gravity in one direction—like a vehicle halfway through its run, where the left side suddenly lost half its weight and tilted naturally.
Its authority wasn't that powerful, but making the "vehicle" curve? That was not difficult.
The magic girl's Beast Prince inherited ancient Beast techniques in wielding authority; the controlled Beast Prince possessed them too, and under the high-intelligence master brain's control, used them with greater finesse.
"Boom!"
The boulder accelerated further, yet developed a subtle deviation.
"Stop, coward."
"Our shame."
But its two brothers also moved.
Pure white radiance blazed from the two magic girls, as if the surrounding world was bleached white—this was the phenomenon of their forced use of authority.
Through their pact, the two Beast Princes used the magic girls' bodies to maximize authority output.
The already tilted boulder adjusted its direction slightly once more.
Both sides entered a battle invisible to the naked eye, the boulder's trajectory constantly tilting and adjusting.
If it had been the old Li En, he might have thought they were competing in raw power—but now, as a First Ring mage, he knew this was a battle of computational power.
The gap between their authorities was likely small, but what mattered more was the position and angle of each application; every force exerted, after collision, had to be calculated for its directional effect on the final outcome.
As forces were repeatedly applied, more variables entered the equation, and the final computational data increased geometrically.
"Boom!"
A stranger scene occurred: under simultaneous "power boosts," the stone accelerated even more.
"Damn it! Master Brain! You're screwing me!"
Another shell-ship, which had clearly escaped the straight-line trajectory, was still caught and crushed by the boulder.
This accelerated stone had become a mad stone god of death; countless slaves and mind flayers were instantly reduced to bloody fragments, their desperate screams and psychic wails echoing through the space.
This was a scene that left even observers feeling despair—if this were Huicheng, nothing would be different; the city's inhabitants wouldn't even know how they died.
The Beasts' terrifying strength was revealed to the surface dwellers for the first time during this Magic Tide.
Fortunately, the mind flayers and underground residents bore the brunt of the disaster.
"Boom!"
Finally, the moment arrived—their struggle was over.
The boulder skimmed past the nest's edge, causing massive collapses and ground fissures; over half the underground nest had collapsed.
Everywhere were screams; the "precious" mind flayers died like chickens in a slaughterhouse.
But the area where the Master Brain and the stag-headed entity resided "coincidentally" avoided the boulder.
Neither side won, but neither lost completely.
"Boom!"
The authorities over gravity and direction were withdrawn; the boulder naturally lost its motive force.
It rolled slower and slower, even beginning to disintegrate—but at this point, no one cared about it, or the unlucky souls beneath its collapse.
"Set out—let us cleanse the shame of our bloodline."
Countless small Beasts surged from the shadows, transforming as they bared fangs and claws.
For this moment, the Beast Princes mobilized nearly all the Beast hordes of the underground world.
These charging Beasts targeted the survivors left behind by the boulder's path—scattered survivors who had lost their defensive positions and command systems, each dying in horrific fashion.
Spatial portals opened one after another; under the Master Brain's command, the mind flayers themselves rushed to intervene.
But they still fought with great difficulty.
Most mental abilities were meaningless against Beasts without minds; their abysmally low "intelligence" and "emotion" were natural enemies to most mental and charm abilities.
Just as Li En's Command Shu (Enchantment) required the target to understand language, so too did fear, unease, or joy-inducing mental spells fail against the Beasts.
Even the universal Mind Burst spell could only pause the Beast horde for a moment.
In short, the mind flayers faced their ultimate predator—these new-generation brain-eaters could not comprehend how such a "pure" creature could exist.
"Boom!"
But at this moment, the mind flayers' Master Brain deployed its ultimate weapon.
The massive stag, mostly buried underground, slowly rose to its feet.
Had control succeeded? How could it have happened so much faster than expected?
"Perhaps I should thank you—faced with mortal peril, it finally ceased resisting, allowing me to claim it."
The cheerful Master Brain revealed the truth.
Just as the greatest limitation of Enchantment was that it could never force a controlled being to commit suicide, the Beast Prince, obeying its survival instinct, had been enslaved by the Master Brain ahead of schedule!
