Chapter 246: Eye Swap

~4 min read 745 words

The girl—or rather, the woman who looked like a magical girl—squinted at the mirror, as if already unaccustomed to this sight.

But compared to her previous sharp, eagle-like elongated pupils, these more masculine eyes now appeared softer, rounder, more girlish.

Paired with her Yiguanyingqishuanglideqizhi, the once overly sharp halberd now made her seem like a tomboy from next door.

"Tsk tsk tsk, if Little Red Feather goes out like this, she might even be more popular than before."

Her familiar, the senior "Ronnia," found it amusing to tease her own Qiyuezhe.

"Shut up, blind idiot." Red Feather was annoyed, as if being told she had no luck with men.

Well, it was the truth—and that made it even more infuriating.

Red Feather's appearance wasn't bad at all; it was just that any man who met her gaze either ran away immediately or at least had to muster courage to stay.

"Nonsense. These eyes may only see three hundred meters beyond this house, but they're not completely blind."

Victoria's prosthetic eye hadn't been wasted—its golden globe was ultimately used on the familiar.

It seemed Rosalind hadn't gone too far with this "gift to the familiar."

"Only three hundred meters? What else is a blind person?"

"Hmm, so your eyes' performance is better than mine?"

"About twice as good, though still a fraction of what I had before—but the point isn't that. It shows me things I couldn't see before."

Touching the pale golden eyes, Red Feather fell into thought.

These were "Black Dragon Eyes," extra eyes belonging to Li En. He had dual thinking, but that didn't mean he could fully control sensory input from multiple bodies.

This overload of visual and sensory data burdened the body and brain; the extra sensory system had always been locked.

This was the highest-tier (potential) Black Dragon Eye, possessing not only the standard Black Dragon traits: visual motion capture, lie detection, and truth-piercing.

As a notoriously stubborn dragon, the Black Dragon's underwater vision, night vision, and even shadow vision—capable of seeing through the Shadow Plane—were all maxed out.

Through these eyes, Red Feather sensed new visual input she'd never had before, and though surprised and hesitant, this didn't mean she'd regained her power.

"How much combat ability do you still have?"

"After adapting to these eyes, three to five percent—no more than five percent. Many targeted abilities are unusable. Actual combat potential may be under three percent of what I had."

This answer was expected. Li En sighed, yet was already satisfied.

No matter how high-quality the parts, they remain merely one component in another "machine," supplying only a portion of the overall function.

The Black Dragon Eye is a veteran Black Dragon's ambush eye, even possessing the ambush trait of "no light or reflection in darkness"; the Eagle Eye's purpose is to see farther—its functions are entirely different.

The "Eagle Eye," as the core component of the eagle, came with a full suite of associated abilities.

Having three to five percent combat power already exceeds expectations; losing the specific abilities against "Owl" was only natural.

"Was this His design?"

Looking at the contract paper on the table, Red Feather's tone carried newfound respect and disbelief.

To them, this "Magic Contract" was a revolutionary "invention" no less significant than the Magical Girl Contract.

Especially for people like them, it might hold even greater value.

The Snake returns only once every many years, never merging with Li En, and thus left no legacy behind.

But merely modifying the original Magic Contract to create the "Masked Dragon Knight (Magic Contract Specialist / Cultist branch)" was already immensely valuable.

He was clearly a master of contracts; his "Snake Magic Contract" could be regarded as an entirely new branch of the Cultist path.

In truth, the original Magical Girl Contract was itself a modified version of the Cultist Magic Contract.

In essence, a Magic Contract is a "transaction," though the two parties are not equal.

The dominant party (the Master) grants power but often demands everything in return—effectively issuing usurious magic loans. The Magical Girl Contract exploited this "transaction," exchanging "humanity" for "bestiality," achieving a certain balance between both sides.

"How are you doing?" As the "exploited party," Red Feather nonetheless asked after Li En's condition.

After all, a Magic Contract is a transaction, an exchange: Li En gave her flesh, gave her eyes; naturally, she could only repay with more—and as a "beast," every gift is a poison of life.
