Chapter 344: Breaking Through the Shallow Layer

~4 min read 726 words

Time never halts for the sake of any single person.

An era always advances quietly while the majority are busy with their lives.

"Boom!"

The suddenly shattered wall triggered waves of cheers.

At the tail end of the Harvest Festival celebrations, cheers rose from the square.

"It's open, it's open. It's opened."

Amidst the screams, the Great Mirror Demon's focus shifted to a group of explorers at the very front.

They seemed to have finally traversed the dark underground ruin zone and arrived in a new world that felt somewhat familiar.

"There's light! Smash through this wall!"

Amidst the incredulous gazes of everyone, the scene of "breaking the wall" occurred under the scrutiny of all. That shattered wall meant that most previous estimates were wrong; the underground ruins were not a simple maze, but rather

"What is this?! How can there be another world?"

When the people realized that the seemingly infinite maze of underground ruins had been breached, what appeared was the boundless "Underdark."

Or rather, a cluster of underground caverns similar to the Underdark.

That was a maze in another sense; even though one could see more glowing fungal suns in the "sky," countless rock walls still created layered divisions.

This scene felt familiar to Li En, who had been hurriedly dragged over; in every aspect, it reminded him of the Underdark he had explored before.

Could it be that the underground ruins have been connected?

Li En, the bystander, shook his head. Snake had spoken many half-true, half-false lies back then; now it seemed they were all spoilers in advance. The terrain below might be complex, containing not just wastelands but also volcanoes and snow mountains.

Li En vaguely sensed some of Snake's limitations. Or perhaps it was his twisted sense of humor; his words were mostly half-true and half-false, and he had to deliver important information as jokes. If you didn't believe them, it seemed to have no effect, but if something actually happened, they could serve as a guide.

"The volcanoes and snow mountains might only be half true. Volcanoes might exist, but snow mountains are unlikely. But the half-true, half-false nature of the words itself implies a multi-layered structure below."

This was probably just the first layer being pierced, breaking through the shallow area filled with architectural mazes.

And this time, layer upon layer was filled with dim light everywhere, seemingly entering the familiar Underdark.

"Is this the level of a continental powerhouse, the Sindak Empire?"

Li En watched the golden-armored warriors on the live broadcast lens with some apprehension.

The leader was a swordsman in light armor; Li En had seen him in the Hero's Legacy, but the seven entities of Great Warrior level or higher following behind him were what made people more uneasy.

While the entire city had entered the joy of autumn harvest and the harvest festival, undergoing a brief yet fulfilling adjustment, these outsiders would not pause for these "victories of other nations."

The hero of the Sindak Empire, leading his guards, silently conquered the underground ruins, and today, for the first time, "broadcasted" live, completely shocking everyone.

The uniform golden armor, the eagle-soaring imperial emblem, and the prince-like son of a duke who looked as if he had walked out of a fairy tale instantly attracted all eyes.

"Bazak Simo."

This person, even in the Hero's Legacy, was not the most eye-catching.

His appearance, strength, and even background were quite average; in the internal strife of the Hero's Legacy, he had never stood out.

But he seemed to have arrived the fastest and directly pulled off something big.

Li En looked at the excited crowd around him; many were shouting the names of the Empire and the hero. Li En estimated that many were shills, but their purpose had been achieved. Soon, the entire Radiant City, perhaps even the entire Kingdom, would remember this squad and the only "revealed hero" who was not wearing a helmet.

"They actually did it."

Many informed people had their own exploration plans. Li En estimated that breaking through the shallow layer was just a matter of time; the core reason it couldn't be broken through before was a lack of importance attached to it, and various parties were dragging their feet.

Suddenly breaking through the shallow layer and changing the scenery and terrain would not fundamentally affect anything.
