Chapter 358: The Dragon Nation

~4 min read 662 words

“Actually, I’m not from the Federation—I’m from Autu, the Dragon Nation of Autu, homeland of dragon descendants, dragon bloodlines, and hybrid dragonkind, and the Department of Dragon Language Translation, Compilation, and Restructuring—commonly called the Dragon Studies Division—is located there.”

“We have always welcomed talented individuals; the Dragon Studies Division and the Dragon Nation welcome every true child of the dragon.”

The man who called himself Luo Yisi seemed overly enthusiastic.

He made no effort to conceal the source of his enthusiasm: the scales on his skin and his single dragon eye were the main reasons.

Was he a dragon descendant? Li En thought not—this half-dragon appearance was more likely a rare branch of beast-human hybrids: the dracohuman.

He explained himself as an Autuan, a minor but well-known nation whose primary ethnic groups were various dragon-related hybrids.

Hence the nation was small, with few people (by great power standards), yet possessed strong military power and was one of the Federation’s friendly allies.

He had appeared specifically because he had “seen” Li En as a kindred spirit.

“Your talent would thrive far better in our lands—here, we are unwelcome. The kingdom still harbors anti-dragon traditions, but in truth, the elite no longer care; such hatred comes from the common folk.”

This dracohuman archmage had spotted a dragon descendant during a mission, recognized prey of value, and approached voluntarily to recruit.

This was quite common—many mono-ethnic nations scoured the continent for recruits.

Moreover, Li En’s dragon aura had grown so thick it could no longer be suppressed.

“I’ll consider it,” Li En replied without outright refusal—he needed broader networks and sources of information.

Li En had grown increasingly certain: the Kingdom of Aserin was, in truth, the edge of the edge.

He would eventually have to leave—learning more in advance could only help.

The dracohuman wanted to press further, but at that moment, his companion was still locked in fierce combat.

“Luo Yisi! Come help!” A voice suddenly crackled through his armband.

The middle-aged gentleman, seemingly a dracohuman, frowned and sighed.

These brute spellcasters who fiddled with incantations and evocation—how crude they always were.

“Apologies, Mr. Li En, it seems we’ve encountered a minor inconvenience—those black-skinned vermin need a bit more re-education.”

He made no effort to hide his racial prejudice; his lone glowing blue dragon eye even glanced sidelong at the two dark elves behind Li En. Perhaps this so-called Dragon Nation was friendly toward dragonkind—but not necessarily toward other races.

With that, he floated upward and flew off into the distance.

To him, recruiting a high-rank dragon descendant was a decent gain—but if he failed, it didn’t matter; the Dragon Nation had no shortage of dragon descendants.

Such recruitment was primarily for the sake of “bloodline” diversity.

He glanced back once at the dragon descendant, then unconsciously shook his head.

“A pity—such a pure dragon sorcerer.”

Sorcerers wield magic through innate talent and bloodline; all wild sorcerers, dragon-transformed, and half-dragons can almost instinctively take up this path.

Li En’s Dragon Tongue Sorcerer class was merely one such variant; the Dragon Nation had developed numerous sorcerer-like vocations and bloodline training methods that greatly enhanced the combat power and growth ceiling of dragon sorcerers.

Luo Yisi did feel a pang of regret—such a potent wild sorcerer with thick true-dragon aura might be wasted if left unguided—but he offered no contact details or address, indicating he considered it merely a regret, not a crisis: if wasted, so be it.

Dragon bloodlines require cultivation to grow strong. In reality, not just dragon bloodlines—many arcane bloodlines and evolutionary paths require corresponding vocational lines and training methods to be unlocked.

Resources, experience, even family lineage can effectively raise one’s growth ceiling.

It’s not that a small pond cannot hold a true dragon—it’s that a true dragon cub will grow crooked in a small pond, becoming a snake or an eel.

“What do you think of this suggestion?” Li En hesitated slightly, then asked.

He needed advice from an elder.
