Chapter 2099: I have a medicine

"I..."

Hearing the old lady's follow-up question, Gu Qiuyi pursed her lips, feeling very conflicted in her heart.

But thinking of Ye Chen's instructions, she could only bite the bullet and lie, "I'm sorry, Grandmother... I... haven't found Brother Ye Chen yet..."

When she said this, Gu Qiuyi clearly saw the glimmer of hope in the old lady's eyes instantly dim.

She suddenly felt that saying this to this kind-faced old woman was truly too cruel.

An Chongqiu, who was on the side, sighed and asked her, "Miss Gu, have you also been looking for Chen'er?"

"Yes..." Gu Qiuyi said seriously, "My dad has been looking for Brother Ye Chen for nearly twenty years, searching almost everywhere across the country."

The old lady said gratefully in a low voice at this time, "Your Gu family is truly affectionate and righteous. You haven't forgotten Chen'er after all these years. Thank you... I thought only we were still searching for Chen'er's whereabouts. I didn't expect you to have been looking for him for so long..."

Gu Qiuyi hurriedly said, "Grandmother, the marriage with Brother Ye Chen was arranged by my parents with Uncle Ye and Aunt An a long time ago. The status of Brother Ye Chen as my fiancé has never changed in my heart for so many years. I have been waiting all these years to officially marry Brother Ye Chen after finding him..."

Hearing this, the old lady couldn't help but burst into tears and choked out, "Good child... you've suffered for so many years..."

Gu Qiuyi shook her head and said, "It's not suffering; it's what I should do..."

As she spoke, Gu Qiuyi said a well-intentioned lie, "I came to the United States this time for a concert tour, and my dad told me that I must come to see you and Grandfather if I have time. I came here presumptuously this time, and I hope I haven't disturbed the two of you..."

"How could you!" The old lady held Gu Qiuyi's hand and said lovingly, "Although Chen'er hasn't been found yet, in my eyes, you are my granddaughter-in-law!"

Gu Qiuyi hurriedly nodded, feeling moved and ashamed in her heart.

The old lady hurriedly introduced her, "Good child, Grandmother will introduce you. This is your eldest uncle, and that is your third uncle and aunt. Your second uncle is accompanying your grandfather, so he didn't come down to welcome you."

Gu Qiuyi hurriedly asked, "Grandmother, can I see Grandfather?"

The old lady's eyes misted over, and she choked out, "Your grandfather is critically ill and has already fallen into a coma..."

As she spoke, she remembered something and hurriedly said, "Good child, come with me. I'll take you to see your grandfather. Maybe if he hears you've come, his condition will improve..."

Gu Qiuyi hurriedly followed the old lady and the others to the An family's medical center.

Just as they arrived at the ICU entrance, An Kaifeng heard the commotion and hurriedly ran out, asking the old lady impatiently, "Mom, has Chen'er returned?!"

The old lady shook her head, pulled Gu Qiuyi over, and introduced her, "Kaifeng, this young lady is Miss Gu from Yanjing. She is the fiancée your sister designated for Chen'er back then, and she came here specifically to see me and your dad today."

An Kaifeng felt very disappointed, but he was still very polite to Gu Qiuyi and said, "Hello, Miss Gu!"

The old lady said to Gu Qiuyi again, "Good child, this is your second uncle."

Gu Qiuyi nodded and said politely, "Hello, Second Uncle!"

An Kaifeng hurriedly said, "Good, good, good. You've come from so far away and haven't had dinner yet, right? I'll have your aunt arrange something for you in a while; eat something first."

Gu Qiuyi hurriedly said, "No need, Second Uncle. I already ate on the plane when I came."

As she spoke, Gu Qiuyi asked again, "Can I go in and see Grandfather?"

The old lady hurriedly said, "Come, child, Grandmother will take you in."

Having said that, she prepared to hold Gu Qiuyi's hand and walk into the ICU. ===== CHAPTER 2100 =====
