Chapter 2146: This person has a problem

At this very moment, Li Yalin had two things on his mind.

One was to quickly capture the murderer who had been on a killing spree in New York for the past two days;

The other was to help his good brother An Chongqiu find out exactly what secret Gu Qiuyi was hiding.

Currently, the Fei Group was under a total lockdown, and finding Su Ruoli was only a matter of time. Therefore, when he received this call, he was very hopeful that his subordinate would bring him good news.

However, the voice on the other end of the phone said helplessly, "Boss, we followed your instructions and put on a whole show, but we didn't expect that there would be no hard drive in the surveillance camera at that barbecue shop."

"No hard drive?!" Li Yalin felt as if a bucket of cold water had been poured over him. He blurted out, "Why is there no hard drive? Was it taken away by someone beforehand?"

The subordinate replied, "The colleague I sent out reported that the owner said the hard drive had broken earlier and he hadn't replaced it with a new one."

Li Yalin blurted out, "What about the broken hard drive? Wasn't it in the machine?"

The subordinate said, "No, I asked about that too. He said the hard drive slot in the surveillance recorder was indeed empty."

Li Yalin's expression froze, and he frowned, saying, "This doesn't make sense! If the hard drive really broke and he didn't intend to repair it, there would be no reason for him to take the hard drive out of the machine. It's like if your computer's CPU broke and you planned to leave the computer aside, would you specifically pry out the CPU?"

"This..." The subordinate pondered for a moment and blurted out, "Boss, are you saying that the shop owner has a problem?"

"This person definitely has a problem." Li Yalin said coldly, "Check the owner's background for me, and send some men to monitor him quietly so he doesn't escape."

As he spoke, Li Yalin added, "Remember, you must not alert the enemy!"

"Understood!" The subordinate agreed immediately and said, "I'll arrange it right away."

After hanging up the phone, the person in charge at the scene ran over and said, "Detective Li, the people at the Fei Group headquarters have been evacuated for the most part, but we still haven't found any trace of Su Ruoli. The special operations team will enter with life detectors and search dogs immediately."

Li Yalin nodded and said, "Order them to conduct a carpet search. Combine it with the architectural blueprints of the Fei Group headquarters building, and don't miss any possible escape routes!"

The other party immediately said, "Please rest assured, Detective Li. We have already cut off all pipes connecting the group headquarters to the outside world. Unless the target turns into a fly and flies out, it is impossible for them to escape."

"That's good." Li Yalin ordered, "Let the special operations team begin! Before dark, you must find that Su Ruoli for me!"

Meanwhile, Ye Chen had already left Long Beach and was heading to the venue where Gu Qiuyi was performing.

Since Gu Qiuyi could not carry her phone while rehearsing on stage, she had created a WeChat group in advance, adding herself, Ye Chen, and her manager Chen Duoduo, and asked Chen Duoduo to be responsible for receiving Ye Chen.

All the cast and crew related to the performance were fully immersed in the rehearsal, except for Gu Qiuyi's manager, Chen Duoduo, who had nothing to do.

For Chen Duoduo, her busiest time was before the performance preparations, such as negotiating various partnerships, handling publicity, coordinating media resources, and figuring out how to help Gu Qiuyi with resource swaps.

However, once the performance entered the countdown stage, it meant her preliminary work was basically finished, so she was actually quite free at this time.

Knowing that Ye Chen was coming, Chen Duoduo waited outside the venue early. As soon as she saw Ye Chen arrive, she stepped forward with great enthusiasm and said, "Mr. Ye, you're here! Qiuyi is rehearsing, so she asked me to receive you!"

Ye Chen looked at Chen Duoduo and asked in surprise, "Miss Duoduo, we have known each other for quite a long time. Why have you suddenly become so polite today?"

Chen Duoduo chuckled and said, "Look at what you're saying, Mr. Ye. I, Chen Duoduo, have always been very polite to you."

Ye Chen teased, "This isn't the time for you to point at me and call me a heartless man."

Chen Duoduo said with a serious face, "No, no, no. As adults, we must learn to separate one thing from another. In handling Qiuyi's problems, you did indeed act like a heartless man, but in other aspects, you are still very capable."

After finishing, she ignored Ye Chen's depressed expression, pointed to the large performance venue behind her, and said with a grin, "Look, this is the best performance venue in New York. We were worried before that after being set up by the Fei family, we might not even have the chance to use it. But who would have thought that this venue has now become ours directly..."

Speaking of this, she said to Ye Chen with admiration, "Mr. Ye, it still has to be you!"

Ye Chen was a bit dumbfounded at this moment. ===== CHAPTER 2147 =====
