Chapter 2476: Ye Chen's Strategy

Soon, the first Cavalry Guard to receive the antidote from Ye Chen walked up to the office door.

He knocked on the door and said respectfully, "The Right Banner Chief of the Cavalry Guards requests an audience with the Special Envoy!"

Ye Chen gave a hum and said indifferently, "Come in!"

Subsequently, the door was gently pushed open, and a middle-aged man with blonde hair walked into the office.

Back when he first saw those twelve men, Ye Chen had already noticed him. He looked more like a Westerner, yet possessed some Asian features; he was likely of mixed heritage.

Ye Chen, wrapped in a black robe, was sitting behind a large solid wood desk. He looked at the middle-aged man in front of him and asked, "Have you taken the antidote?"

The middle-aged man hurriedly replied, "Reporting to the Special Envoy, I have already taken it."

Ye Chen nodded slightly and asked again, "How do you feel? Have you noticed anything unusual?"

The middle-aged man said without hesitation, "I feel very good and haven't noticed anything unusual. I can clearly feel that after taking the medicine this time, the suppression of the toxins in my body is much stronger. I imagine that lasting fifteen days should not be a problem."

"Good." Ye Chen nodded, smiled playfully, and then asked, "By the way, what position do you hold among the Cavalry Guards?"

The man immediately said, "Reporting to the Special Envoy, I am the Right Banner Chief among the three banners of the Cavalry Guards, commanding the entire Right Banner."

"Right Banner Chief." Ye Chen repeated, then asked curiously, "What is your ancestry?"

The man hurriedly said, "Reporting to the Special Envoy, my ancestry is already very difficult to verify. As far as I know, I have Chinese, Japanese, British, German, Russian, and several South American ancestries. My earliest ancestors were all Chinese, but starting a hundred years ago, the dead soldiers included many other races, so the ancestry has become increasingly chaotic."

Ye Chen was secretly surprised. It seemed that after so many years of development, the ancestry of the dead soldiers in the Anti-Qing Society had long since become diversified.

Immediately, he waved his hand at the man and said, "Alright, you may go down first. Let the next person come in."

The man said respectfully, "I obey your command!"

Soon, the second person knocked on the door: "The Middle Banner Chief of the Cavalry Guards requests an audience with the Special Envoy!"

Ye Chen said to come in, and the man hurriedly walked into the office.

He closed the door, came before Ye Chen, and said respectfully, "Greetings, Special Envoy!"

After speaking, he looked at the Governor and others standing motionless to the side, and then respectfully saluted the Commander, "Greetings, Governor!"

Ye Chen asked him, "Have you taken the antidote?"

The man hurriedly said, "Reporting to the Special Envoy, I have already taken the antidote!"

After speaking, he hurriedly lowered his voice and said fawningly, "Special Envoy, I have two important matters to report to you!"

Ye Chen raised his eyebrows and said indifferently, "Speak whatever is on your mind."

The man hurriedly said, "The first thing is, there is a problem with this medicine!"

Ye Chen asked curiously, "What is the problem with the medicine?"

The man explained, "Reporting to the Special Envoy, after I took this new antidote, all the toxins in my body disappeared!"

Ye Chen feigned surprise and scolded, "What a load of nonsense! The new antidote was specially formulated by the English Lord specifically for you, in order to extend the interval between your doses so you can complete more arduous tasks. Its function is to change the time it takes for the toxins in your body to act from 7 days to 15 days. How could it possibly make your toxins disappear?"

The man said with an anxious face, "Oh, Special Envoy, everything I said is the truth. Not only have the toxins in my body disappeared, but the toxins in the other 11 people have also ceased to exist!"

As he spoke, the man added, "This leads to the second matter I want to report to you. Just now, the Left Banner Chief, Li Nianzong, has already called on us to take this opportunity to seize control of the copper mine, and he even wants us to work together against the organization. If you don't eliminate them quickly, they are very likely to lead all the Cavalry Guards and dead soldiers to launch a complete mutiny!"

Ye Chen paused for a moment, then asked curiously, "Why are you telling me this? Haven't you ever thought about breaking free from the organization's control?"

Upon hearing this, the man thought Ye Chen was deliberately testing his loyalty. He was instantly pale with fright, hurriedly waved his hands, and explained, "Please, Special Envoy, look clearly. I am wholeheartedly loyal to the organization and have absolutely no intention of mutiny! Moreover, the fact that I have been able to come this far and become the Middle Banner Chief here is entirely due to the opportunities given by the organization. I would rather die than betray the organization!"

Ye Chen smiled and said, "They all say that although the Cavalry Guards and dead soldiers are obedient to the organization, they are full of hatred for it and think about breaking free from its control every moment. It seems that is not entirely true."

The man immediately took a step forward, bowed deeply at ninety degrees, cupped his hands above his head, and said respectfully, "Special Envoy, the fact that I have today is the result of the joint efforts of my many ancestors. How could I let down so many generations of their hard work over so many years?"

Ye Chen laughed and said, "Haha! You are indeed a talent worth molding! To tell you the truth, what you were asked to test this time is not a new antidote at all. It is a new poison specially formulated by the English Lord to test your loyalty. At first glance, this poison seems to have completely cleared the toxins from your body, but in reality, it only makes the toxins temporarily hide, in order to test who among you has the intention to betray the organization and who has a heart of loyalty!"

The man's expression was one of horror, but it was quickly replaced by an uncontrollable excitement and thrill.

He could not hide his joy and blurted out, "I was just wondering how the Lord, in His wisdom, could have formulated such contradictory antidotes. I never expected the Lord to be so brilliant!"

Ye Chen nodded and said indifferently, "I won't hide it from you either. The English Lord has always known that the vast majority of you Cavalry Guards and dead soldiers lack loyalty to him and are even full of hatred. He had this idea not to find those traitors who intend to mutiny, but to use this method to unearth talents like you who are worth molding!"

As he spoke, Ye Chen added, "Don't worry, I will definitely report your performance today to the English Lord exactly as it is. I believe the English Lord will definitely reward you for your merits. Perhaps he will promote you to be the Commander of the Cavalry Guards!"

The man was instantly ecstatic, fell to his knees with a thud, and kowtowed, "Thank you, Special Envoy, for your promotion!"

Ye Chen gestured for him to get up, then continued to bait him, asking with a smile, "According to your understanding, among the Cavalry Guards, how many people are truly loyal to the organization like you?"

The man thought for a moment and said, "There aren't many people I can be sure of, but at the very least, there are more than a dozen! They are all loyal to the organization and hope to gain more importance from the organization through their own efforts."

"Good!" Ye Chen nodded and instructed, "After you go out from here, don't let the other eleven people see any clues. Then, go find the people you think will absolutely not betray the organization, quietly tell them the truth about the antidote, and let them hold a towel in their left hand when they take the medicine later so that I can recognize them at a glance. Remember, do not let any word leak out."

The man blurted out without hesitation, "Don't worry, Special Envoy, I will go do it right away!" ===== CHAPTER 2477 =====
