Chapter 3422: I Will See You Through Danger to Safety
At this moment backstage, everyone was in a panic.
If such a grand entrance ceremony were to fail because Tawana's safety rope could not be loosened, leaving her dangling awkwardly in midair, it would be embarrassing enough to make headlines worldwide.
Even before the performance began, once everyone tried to figure out how to rescue Tawana, this incident would already have made global entertainment news.
But under these circumstances, rescuing Tawana would be as difficult as climbing to heaven.
Tawana's safety rope is operated by an electric winch installed at the top of the stage.
The winch's retraction and release are controlled by a wired controller, and the staff members are currently standing directly behind the stage, desperately pressing the release button.
Normally, they would monitor the tension of the safety rope visually and slowly release it according to Tawana's descending speed, just like in rock climbing where someone controls the rope height from behind.
But now, for some unknown reason, the winch controlled by the wired controller has jammed completely.
It could be a problem with the controller, the machine itself, or even the machine's power supply.
However, this winch is designed to lock its brake during a power outage to prevent safety accidents, so in this situation, even if dozens of meters of safety rope remain on the winch, it cannot release even a single inch.
The staff members were nearly smashing the controller's switch in frustration, but the problem remained unsolved.
Tawana was now on the verge of breaking down.
Ye Chen stood below the stage, watching this performance he had been most looking forward to.
If an accident occurred right at the start, leaving him looking like a fool dangling tens of meters above the stage, his composure would surely shatter.
At that moment, a staff member suddenly spoke: "Stop the big screen from tilting! Retract it first, fix the issue, then try again! Tell the audience we're delaying the opening by ten minutes!"
Everyone felt this might be the best solution under the circumstances.
Although Tawana felt regretful, she had no better option—retracting the big screen was far better than being left hanging alone in midair.
This could indeed be considered the best solution at present.
However, Ye Chen now felt that the big screen had already begun to tilt forward with overwhelming force, and if it were retracted now, it would look like a reversed video—ridiculous, and all the shock and surprise would be ruined.
It would be better to let the screen fully retract, then quietly rescue Tawana and have her appear via the stage lift instead.
Although not as dramatic as descending from the top of the big screen, it would at least avoid embarrassment.
After all, the big screen has just begun to tilt
downward, and from the audience's current angle, Tawana is temporarily out of sight.
But Ye Chen reconsidered: that wasn't truly a perfect solution. The best course now was to let everything continue without stopping.
Since the audience had already seen the big screen start to tilt slowly, they would surely guess that Tawana would appear from behind it. They were merely waiting for her to emerge to confirm their guess—and to be stunned in the process.
He immediately shouted to the nearby staff: "Don't retract the big screen—keep lowering it!"
The stage manager blurted out: "But Tawana can't hold on much longer—if we keep lowering it, the safety rope will suspend her in midair!"
Ye Chen ignored him and commanded: "Do as I say—your safety rope is already faulty and will snap any moment!"
As he spoke, he focused his mind, and a burst of spiritual energy shot forth instantly, directly severing Tawana's safety rope behind her.
At the same time, more spiritual energy surged from within him like an invisible pair of hands, directly supporting Tawana's body.
The staff still thought Ye Chen was speaking nonsense—after all, the safety rope could bear at least 800 kilograms, the kind used in rock climbing—how could it possibly break just because he said so?
But before the stage manager could object, he saw the straightened safety rope behind Tawana suddenly snap and spring back.
Witnessing this, the stage manager's legs went weak, and he cried out in despair: "It's over, it's over—I'm completely finished this time. May God bless Tawana and keep her safe from any accident..."
Meanwhile, Tawana had been struggling against the strong pull from behind, but suddenly felt the force vanish entirely. She lurched forward and collided with the iron frame in front of her, letting out a terrified scream.
Fortunately, the performance had not yet begun, so the sound engineer had not turned up her microphone volume—otherwise, that scream would have been heard by the entire audience.
Tawana turned to look at the severed rope behind her, her legs going weak from fright. The rope had broken, leaving her completely unprotected—she could only cling desperately to the iron frame ahead.
If this continued, wouldn't she end up looking utterly embarrassed? Instead of stepping onto the descending big screen for her entrance, she would end up crawling onto its back like a defeated figure.
As she panicked, Ye Chen's voice suddenly sounded in her ear: "Don't be nervous—stand tall with confidence. I will protect you."
"Mr. Ye?!"
Tawana jumped in shock.
She had thought Ye Chen was speaking to her through her earpiece, but she quickly realized the sound from the earpiece was nowhere near that clear.
Ye Chen's voice sounded as if he were speaking right beside her ear—utterly undistorted.
As an exceptionally talented musician with acute sensitivity to tone, she knew this was
something no headphones could possibly achieve.
She stared down in astonishment and saw Ye Chen standing below the stage, far off, giving her an OK hand gesture.
A warm feeling welled up in her heart, and she felt much more reassured.
But to truly put her mind at ease, she still felt some apprehension—after all, the safety rope had been cut, and if she slipped even slightly, she would surely fall to her death on the stage.
The stage manager, anxious, asked over the walkie-talkie: "Tawana, how do you feel now? Should we stop the big screen's tilt immediately and try to rescue you?"
Ye Chen quickly sent a spiritual message to Tawana's mind: "Don't be afraid—I cut your safety rope myself. Only this way can I ensure your entrance proceeds without interference. Tell the stage manager you can hold on—under no circumstances let the big screen stop. I will see you through danger to safety."
Tawana naturally trusted Ye Chen even more—after all, during their time in Tokyo, she had known his power far exceeded ordinary comprehension. To silently sever her safety rope was no great feat for him.
More importantly, he was an extremely responsible man—if he had done this, he must have had his reasons and full confidence.
She immediately declared: "You don't need to worry about me—just ensure the big screen tilts normally, without any interference!"
The stage manager blurted: "But what if something happens to you? If you fall, you'll die!"
Tawana said firmly: "Rest assured—I have my beloved protecting me. I will surely turn danger into safety."
