Chapter 3537: Everyone Has Arrived

~9 min read 1,614 words

After leaving the police station, Chen Zekai asked with concern: "Young Master, how do you plan to deal with these minors?"

Hong Wu beside him interrupted: "Let me say, first find them, beat them half to death, then cripple their arms and legs, so they lie in bed until they turn eighteen!"

Ye Chen waved his hand: "We're all this old, fighting with minors—if it gets out, it'll be too embarrassing."

"Then what should we do?" Hong Wu gritted his teeth: "We definitely need to give them a proper lesson! Otherwise, I just can't swallow this anger!"

Ye Chen snorted coldly: "No need to personally teach them a lesson; the best way is to let them teach themselves."

After saying that, Ye Chen handed the paper to Chen Zekai: "Today is Sunday, I guess these kids aren't in school, but I see their home addresses are all on the same street—maybe these guys are hanging out together. Let's go straight there to find them."

The residence of these minors wasn't far from the police station, within its jurisdiction. Chen Zekai drove there in just over ten minutes, arriving at a residential area called Leinuoshi Street.

Although it's within the city limits, the place feels like typical squalor—trash and filth everywhere, even many vagrants visible.

Ye Chen had Chen Zekai drive past the doorsteps of several minors' homes, but saw no sign of them, guessing they hadn't yet gone out for activities. He then told Chen Zekai to park the car at a street intersection and wait.

Chen Zekai parked the car, looking at the outside scene with some surprise, and said: "Clearly still in the city, why does it feel like we've entered a slum?"

Ye Chen pointed to a small house not far away at a street corner turn and said: "See that? The sign says 'safe injection site.' Where there's one of these, things certainly won't be good."

Chen Zekai suddenly understood and sighed: "Sometimes I really have to lament these countries' brain circuits—coming up with something like this to harm the nation and its people."

Hong Wu, not understanding English, asked confusedly: "What's a safe injection site? What do you two mean?"

Chen Zekai said: "It's a place where their government lets addicts inject illegal drugs."

"Holy shit! There's actually something like this?!" Hong Wu was stunned, still marveling, when he saw several young people like walking corpses stumbling out of that safe injection site. He could tell at a glance they were all addicts, some even with syringes still stuck in their arms.

These people not only had lost the appearance of normal humans—each wore tattered clothes, unkempt and filthy, as if they hadn't changed clothes, washed, or cut their hair in years. Two of them even had no shoes, walking barefoot, their feet covered in abscesses and rotting sores.

Looking toward the roadside, beside the green belts and trash cans, lay several more people, swarms of flies buzzing over them, yet these people hardly moved at all, showing no concern.

Fortunately, it's early autumn in Melbourne, located in the Southern Hemisphere, and the weather isn't cold; otherwise, these pests might not have been poisoned to death but could have frozen to death instead.

Hong Wu stared in shock and blurted: "Damn, shouldn't we just lock up all these addicts? Why are they still given a place to openly do this in broad daylight?"

Ye Chen smiled: "This is their political correctness—we really can't understand it, all we can do is show a bit of respect."

At that moment, a young girl in a short skirt, emaciated as a stick, approached their car, her expression anxious and painful as she tapped on the driver's window.

Even through the car window, the three inside could see her arms covered in dense needle marks; many areas of skin had been pierced so often they were now rotting and terrible.

Chen Zekai rolled down the window a crack and asked her: "What's the matter?"

The young woman pleaded: "Sir, please give me one hundred yuan—I can satisfy any of your demands."

After speaking, she glanced into the car and said: "If it could be two hundred yuan, I'd satisfy all three of you."

Hong Wu's face turned pale with fright; he hurriedly told Chen Zekai: "Chen Zong, quickly close the window—I'm fucking afraid she'll give us AIDS!"

Chen Zekai teased her: "Hong Wu, AIDS isn't spread through the air."

Hong Wu panicked: "You can cut that out—quickly close the window, I'm scared, I'm afraid she has other diseases, look at her rotten teeth, like a zombie—too fucking scary!"

Chen Zekai smiled, turned to the girl, and said: "Sorry, we have no demands—go ask someone else."

After saying that, he quickly rolled up the window.

Hong Wu, seeing the window tightly closed, finally breathed a sigh of relief, but still with lingering fear said: "Damn, those people all day long shout about immigrating, immigrating—why move to this kind of place? Every time you go out, you see people like this—can life even be comfortable?"

Chen Zekai laughed: "Hong Wu, don't look at Australia being in the Southern Hemisphere but still fundamentally a Western society's lower-class structure—their social structure is very divided. Rich neighborhoods have everything good: good security, environment, schools, even some are backed by mountains and water, every home has a dock, a yacht—police would love to set up a community precinct right in the rich area, patrolling hundreds of times a day to ensure the rich's safety."

"But poor neighborhoods lack everything, and even their local governments like to bully the poor—they set up these politically correct safe injection sites, always placing them in poor or ordinary people's communities, making their living environment worse, while daring not to make any unauthorized changes in rich neighborhoods without homeowners' permission."

"So, it's understandable that those top-tier rich domestics emigrate to enjoy the luxurious decadence of capitalist society, but for the middle class to spend everything to come over as blue-collar workers, mixing into society's lower strata—that's really hard to understand."

Hong Wu nodded: "Rich people are superior wherever they go—I don't understand what Chen Zong said, those who sold their property to emigrate abroad and become blue-collar workers. I have an old friend who used to run an aluminum alloy door and window business domestically—also considered neither lacking nor excessive—but somehow got talked into it, brought his whole family to emigrate, ended up in the US working as a renovation crew for a Chinese foreman, doing it for over ten years straight."

Ye Chen smiled: "Those are all people duped by immigration companies—you should know, immigration companies are just legal snakeheads, like real snakeheads, they're in the business of sending people abroad. They first paint a picture of how great the outside world is, making people want to go, then to go, they make them pay large sums of money. They never earn money from top-tier rich people, because outsiders know exactly what it's like—top-tier rich people understand it far better than immigration company bosses, impossible to fool. Their target group is those lacking understanding of the outside world yet always thinking the moon is brighter abroad—these people might have only a few hundred thousand in total assets, and the immigration company wants to take half. For the immigration company, whether these people can survive abroad after arriving is irrelevant—just making money is enough."

Hong Wu nodded thoughtfully: "Some people clearly know they'll harm others, yet for money they don't care at all—truly heartless!"

Chen Zekai couldn't help but laugh: "Hong Wu, this isn't your style—I remember back in Jin Ling you also did plenty of this kind of thing. Wasn't there a guy named Zhou Huaxin who specialized in P2P financing, promising high interest to fool old men and women, then laundering the money out, turning it into investment losses—wasn't it you backing him behind the scenes? How many old men and women lost their lifetime savings to this."

When Hong Wu heard him bring this up, his old face instantly reddened to the base of his neck, and he hurriedly said: "Chen Zong, you don't understand the situation—back then it wasn't like that. Zhou Huaxin that son of a bitch himself opened a P2P company and actively sought my investment, never told me what business he was really doing, only said he'd give me some shares and dividends, just needed me to smooth things over for him—I had no idea he was running that kind of business. And after Ye Da Shi found me later, I never participated again..."

Ye Chen laughed and said: "Everyone has taken a wrong turn at some point—knowing the mistake and being able to correct it is best. Old Chen, just don't bring up his past."

Chen Zekai chuckled: "Young Master, you're right—I was just teasing him, seeing what his reaction would be."

Hong Wu wiped his cold sweat: "That time, thanks to Ye Da Shi timely warning me to rein in at the brink, otherwise I'd surely have made a big mistake..."

Ye Chen smiled without speaking, his gaze turned to a house not far down the road—the door suddenly opened, and an eighteen- or nineteen-year-old boy walked out holding a baseball bat.

Ye Chen glanced at the black-and-white ID photo on the printout and said: "That kid is the ringleader, Bruce Brown."

As he spoke, Bruce Brown whistled a few times on the roadside, and immediately several houses nearby saw younger boys walk out one after another.

Ye Chen laughed: "Oh, with that one whistle from the boss, the little lackeys below are all here—Old Chen, drive and follow, let's see what they're up to!"
