Chapter 13: Ancient Beast World 07
Bao Jing dismissed Ye Xi'an's idea without a second thought, for it was simply too fantastical; if it were truly possible, then every time they went to another world they could just plant things inside—wouldn't that mean infinite self‑produced resources?
How is this any different from a pie falling from the sky?
Ye Xi'an disagreed with Bao Jing's view of dismissing something just because it sounded too good to be true.
"Let's give it a try, just in case. Think of it as planting for fun."
"No, it's a waste of time." He said and kept walking forward.
Rather than waste time on impractical ideas, we should hurry and find the pineapples to take back, lest the fruit rot and we make this trip for nothing.
Ye Xi'an still wasn't giving up; she caught up to Bao Jing, grabbed his arm, and shook it left and right.
"Let's try, let's try."
"No!"
"Trying it won't hurt."
"Then we won't try at all."
After begging for a long time, Bao Jing still wouldn't budge, which annoyed Ye Xi'an; she jerked her hand from his arm and stood there, saying, "When did males dare to refuse a female's orders?"
Her voice was soft, but now it carried a hint of seriousness; Bao Jing finally stopped, turned to look at Ye Xi'an, and sneered, "You've been pretending for so long—finally dropping the act?"
"Are you still going to hit me?"
Ye Xi'an rolled her eyes. "Who wants to hit you?" she said. "I have no interest in hitting you; I just want you to do what I say."
If she weren't unable to dig the tree, there'd be no need to waste words with Bao Jing.
"Fine~ our noble female has issued a command—who would dare disobey? I'll dig, I'm going right now."
Bao Jing muttered a sarcastic remark and actually went to dig the tree.
He just dug whatever he saw, paying no attention to the tree species; Ye Xi'an could only follow behind, searching among the rubble for useful fruit trees.
"Can't you stop digging randomly? You've messed up this whole area."
"Wasn't it you who told me to dig?"
Ye Xi'an pulled Bao Jing away, feeling annoyed; sure enough, any creature with even a hint of humanity feels tiresome.
"I told you which tree to dig—dig that one."
She walked up to a Jia bao fruit tree, patted its trunk, and said, "Dig this one, and the three over there as well."
Bao Jing kept a blank expression, head down digging soil, not uttering a word—clearly he was giving Ye Xi'an the silent treatment.
Ye Xi'an transported the Jia bao fruit tree to the Xiao Shijie, found a good spot by the lake, and since she had no tools, she had to dig with her bare hands.
But after digging all morning she had only made a shallow pit, nowhere near deep enough to plant a tree.
Ye Xi'an looked at her own hands in frustration—why was it so easy for Bao Jing to dig a hole while she struggled so much?
If she turned back into her beast form, would it be easier?
Thinking this, Ye Xi'an poofed into a pure‑white Ragdoll cat with just a few strands of purple fur.
The Ragdoll cat sat on the ground, lifted its front paw, and saw that its human palm had turned into a pink‑white paw pad; its purple cat eyes widened in shock: "Holy cow! I really can change—this is amazing!"
This defiance of biology sent a chill down her spine; if that man found out she could turn into a cat, he'd surely go mad and drag her back.
She couldn't think about it, couldn't think about it.
The Ragdoll cat shook its head, trotted over with delicate steps to the pit she'd dug earlier, and kept digging.
But seeing only a few pathetic cat‑paw marks on the ground, she lost all hope.
Her psychic sense withdrew from the Xiao Shijie, and she looked on, somewhat deflated, as Bao Jing continued digging the tree.
Ah, we're both beastfolk—why does he dig so effortlessly? It would be great if Bao Jing could enter the Xiao Shijie.
Huh?
A spark flashed in Ye Xi'an's mind as she watched Bao Jing's silhouette: could she teleport him into the Xiao Shijie? But what if he couldn't get out?
It would be better to test it first on a living creature.
She set her sights on the chirping bird in the tree.
The next second, the curious little bird perched in the tree vanished.
Ye Xi'an hurried back to the Xiao Shijie, found the bird safe and sound flying around inside, then used her ability again and the bird returned to the beast world.
It seems feasible.
"Bao Jing!"
Bao Jing stopped what he was doing: "What now?"
Ye Xi'an explained her idea to Bao Jing, but he thought she was trying to get him killed.
He stared sternly: "If I die here, it won't benefit you."
Ye Xi'an was stunned by his train of thought—what life or death? "What are you talking about? I'm being serious about this; I don't want you dead."
Besides, I've already tested it—living beings can be brought into the Xiao Shijie, so you can relax.
Bao Jing locked eyes with Ye Xi'an; his purple pupils flashed with light, showing only anxiety and pleading.
He sighed: "Then go ahead and try."
Ye Xi'an's face lit up with delight, and she immediately brought Bao Jing into the Xiao Shijie.
"We're here!"
Bao Jing opened his eyes to see an endless expanse of land, with a few trees piled beside his feet—clearly the ones he had just dug up.
He stiffly turned around in place—indeed, it really was a little world!
"How's that? Big enough, huh?"
Ye Xi'an looked a bit smug at Bao Jing's astonished expression, letting him see that he had previously looked down on her.
Bao Jing swallowed: "It's big. What should I do now?"
"Of course, plant the trees—just put these few in the ground."
Bao Jing went along with it; he had completely changed his view of Ye Xi'an. In such a world, if the people on Zhu Shen Xing found out, who knows what kind of uproar it would cause.
The two dug and planted, and after a week they finally found pineapples.
Ye Xi'an was almost moved to tears; she had finally found it.
If she couldn't find it again, she was planning to give up the mission.
Bao Jing said nothing, just silently digging up the soil; the huge pineapple tree was uprooted, the sight was simply shocking.
"Bao Jing, what's the heaviest thing you can lift?"
Bao Jing patted the dirt off his hands: "I haven't tried, but so far I haven't encountered anything I can't lift."
"What about that mountain then?"
Following Ye Xi'an's hand, Bao Jing saw the towering green mountain; his originally somewhat proud face instantly fell. He looked at Ye Xi'an, while she was still looking up at him, her cute cat eyes blinking innocently, a pure expression waiting for his answer.
"You're like some kind of animal."
"What?"
"Like a roe deer, especially in intelligence."
Bao Jing, while pushing Ye Xi'an's head back and turning to leave, walked away, only moving slowly.
The pushed Ye Xi'an rubbed her sore forehead, only after a while realizing Bao Jing was calling her stupid; who doesn't know that roe deer are famously stupid?
"You're insulting me!"
Ye Xi'an angrily chased after Bao Jing wanting to hit him, but her speed was always a step behind his.
Hearing the angry shouts behind him, Bao Jing's mouth twitched up involuntarily; he thought Ye Xi'an really was a stupid roe deer.
The mission is done; it's time to go back.
But Ye Xi'an was somewhat reluctant; she still quite liked this place, and if she returned to that Zhu Shen Xing, she'd have to live with a group of people again.
"How about we just live here then?"
Ye Xi'an hadn't forgotten she still had several husbands: "Let's just send a message to Ji Jiangci and the others, so they can come too."
