Chapter 177: Whose Little Daisies?
Gu Feng had already been made flustered by Ye Xi'an's suspicion, not even realizing what he was doing, he reached out and grabbed Ye Xi'an's hand, forcibly pressing her hand against his handsome face.
Nobody reacted to this movement at first, until the scorching heat on Gu Feng's face transmitted to Ye Xi'an's palm, she suddenly screamed, wanting to pull her hand back, but Gu Feng gripped it tightly.
"Hey! What are you doing!"
The other four also reacted, swarming up and surrounding Ye Xi'an in a tight circle, facing off with Gu Feng with cold expressions.
Ji Jiangci grabbed Gu Feng's hand that was holding Ye Xi'an: "Let go!"
Gu Feng came to his senses, immediately released Ye Xi'an's hand, but his strength was too great, leaving a shocking black-and-purple bruise on Ye Xi'an's fair wrist.
Gu Feng's pupils constricted, his voice trembling as he apologized to Ye Xi'an: "I... I didn't mean to, I..."
Before he could finish his sentence, a slap landed hard on his face—Ye Xi'an had struck.
... Ye Xi'an gritted her teeth, her soft hand trembling slightly.
Now she believed it—Gu Feng's face was truly hard, feeling harder than the sandbag she hit in the training hall, shaking her palm numb.
But saving face was more important; she hid her hand behind her back and, venting her anger, said: "Bao Jing, get him!"
Before her words even landed, Bao Jing threw a punch that hit Gu Feng's face, instantly bruising his gorgeous visage.
"How dare you hurt An'an—you're asking for death!"
Bao Jing threw punch after punch, whether intentional or not, each one landed squarely on Gu Feng's handsome face.
Gu Feng knew he was in the wrong; he could have dodged these attacks, but he endured them anyway.
"Wife, shouldn't we take care of him?" Yi Yang carefully held Ye Xi'an's wrist, his former admiring expression replaced by a fierce one, eager to strike—yes, he, Yi Yang, today not only stopped being a fan, he even turned against him! Dare to hit his wife, truly unforgivable.
"Forget it, Bao Jing alone is enough."
Not knowing how long they had fought, Ye Xi'an only said when Gu Feng was barely recognizable: "Bao Jing, that's enough."
Bao Jing was still holding Gu Feng's collar; upon hearing Ye Xi'an's command, his midair fist reluctantly dropped.
Gu Feng, nose bruised and face swollen, said: "Sorry, I didn't mean to, I just wanted to prove I wasn't lying."
Ye Xi'an sighed, she truly couldn't understand how a neighbor she had only met twice could cause such a big conflict: "You don't need to apologize to me."
"As long as you stop constantly harassing my home from now on, and this door—considering we're neighbors, I'll give you a discount: just give 100,000."
Gu Feng paid in silence, knowing now wasn't a good time to try to stay.
"So can we still be normal neighbors?"
Ye Xi'an half-closed the door: "You can, but you'd better go see how neighbors are supposed to get along."
Having said that, she shut the door without mercy.
Gu Feng's fingertips brushed the bruise on his cheek, he leaned against Ye Xi'an's cold door panel, the sound of her closing the door seemed to still echo in his ears.
That sentence "You'd better go see how neighbors are supposed to get along" was like a needle, repeatedly pricking his already sensitive nerves.
He had really messed up; Ye Xi'an didn't like his flirtatious approach, and on top of that he had hurt her.
Gu Feng lowered his head to look at his own distinct knuckles, as if he could still feel Ye Xi'an's delicate skin and warm temperature on his fingertips, as well as the conspicuous bruise on her wrist.
Regret and self-blame nearly overwhelmed him.
"It's fine, I can still be normal neighbors with Ye Xi'an."
But what exactly are normal neighbors supposed to be like?
Gu Feng had lived so many years, and because of the horns on his head, he hardly had any social life, let alone neighborly relations.
Returning home, he awkwardly searched on his Light Brain for "how to get along with neighbors."
The answers were varied, from sharing food to helping look after pets, to keeping public areas clean.
Gu Feng looked at those suggestions, his brows furrowed.
Share food? Could his cooking even be eaten? Ye Xi'an's household had so many excellent males; would they lack his bite?
Help out? He couldn't even take care of himself.
Keep clean… this seemed worth a try.
The next morning, a pot of very pretty bright yellow daisies appeared at Ye Xi'an's doorstep.
At the same time, the floor from their door to the elevator was polished until it shone, almost reflective.
Yi Yang was the first to go out to throw away trash, seeing this scene, he scratched his flax-colored hair.
"Huh? Who cleaned the hallway? And put flowers there?"
He bent down to pick up the pot of daisies, brought it close to smell, the strong fragrance irritated him into several sneezes.
Though the fragrance was indeed nice, he didn't think at all about where the pot came from; he just knew taking it home made it theirs.
"An'an, look!"
Ye Xi'an had just finished washing up and came out, seeing the flower in Yi Yang's hand.
"Huh, did you go buy flowers?" But she remembered Yi Yang had only gone out for a short while.
Yi Yang shook his head blankly: "No, it's from the doorway; I thought you bought it."
Then he chuckled: "Anyway, it doesn't matter; now it's ours."
Ye Xi'an walked over, frowning, snatched the flower from his hand intending to put it back at the door: "How can you just take someone else's things? That's not right."
As she spoke, she took the flower to the door, looked around twice, and saw no one.
Could it be that the delivery person got the wrong address? But such a situation is almost impossible; in this high-tech world, such a mistake is about as likely as winning the lottery.
"Just whose is this, anyway?"
Bao Jing let out a cold snort, walked over to Ye Xi'an's side, his sharp brown eyes scanning around, finally locking firmly onto the eagle-eyed person opposite.
"Besides that horned monster, who else could it be?"
Ji Jiangci also came over, speaking gently: "Maybe it's the new cleaning staff hired by the property, meant to give each owner a surprise?"
Lin Zhi Jing pushed up his glasses and said lightly: "The property's cleaning robots just came yesterday, and they wouldn't place these aesthetically challenged wild daisies."
Once again, the finger pointed at Gu Feng.
Ye Xi'an had a slight headache.
This covert gesture of goodwill made her feel more awkward than a direct apology would.
She waved her hand: "Never mind, just throw the flowers away."
"Oh." Yi Yang obediently threw the flowers into the trash can.
Over the next few days, similar "surprises" kept coming.
Sometimes a small bag of freshly picked fresh berries appeared at the door, carefully wrapped in leaves.
Sometimes a loose lightbulb in the hallway was quietly tightened.
Once, Ye Xi'an found the doormat washed and smelling of sun when she went out.
These actions were extremely covert, never letting Ye Xi'an and them catch the perpetrators in the act.
But the several males in the household all knew perfectly well who was doing it.
