Chapter 187: Extreme Cold Realm 04

~6 min read 1,183 words

After planting, the blue grass in the black soil continuously emitted an icy‑blue chill outward; when the chill dissipated, it visibly began to wither and dry, turning into a clump of brittle weeds.

Ye Xi'an, disappointed, pulled it out and took it away.

The next second, opening her eyes, she heard Bao Jing's urgent voice: "An'an! Next time don't just wander into a space outside; you suddenly staying still is so dangerous!"

Ye Xi'an giggled: "It's because you all are here; otherwise I'd never dare to enter a space casually."

Finishing, she spread her hands before everyone, letting them see the dry grass in her palm.

Ji Jiangci recognized it at a glance: "Can't the Xiao Shijie grow this?"

Ye Xi'an nodded: "Hmm, it seems this grass can only survive under extreme cold, but it can be preserved inside a space."

"But isn't the temperature of the Extreme Cold Realm constantly rising? If the temperature here normalizes later, won't these divine herbs die out," Yi Yang said, reluctantly clinging to the stone wall and drooling over the thing he called a divine herb.

Although he hadn't leveled up, he could feel it was effective; if there's enough of this grass, would we still fear not leveling up?

Ye Xi'an pondered; Yi Yang was right—the ice and snow of the Extreme Cold Realm were melting rapidly, making it unsuitable for the plant. Even if we harvest all of them and store them in a static space, they'll eventually run out.

Suddenly, her eyes flashed.

"Do you think I could bring these plants back and keep them alive in a refrigerator?"

Lin Zhi Jing brushed the somewhat stiff leaf: "I think it's worth a try. Xi'an, first store these in the space; it's already midnight." He said, casting a meaning‑laden glance at Gu Feng: "Everyone should go wash up and sleep soon."

Since Ye Xi'an started calling Lin Zhi Jing "Zhi Jing," Lin Zhi Jing decided to call her Xi'an, sounding like a loving couple.

Lin Zhi Jing's reminder made everyone remember there was an outsider here; Ye Xi'an's midnight slumber shouldn't be known to him.

"Alright, I'll take the blanket out."

Ye Xi'an's thoughts shifted, and five neatly folded tents materialized at her feet out of thin air—four belonging to Ye Xi'an's family, the remaining one to Gu Feng.

This was still Ye Xi'an's own request; after all, Gu Feng needed protection and couldn't just do nothing for others.

After the tents appeared, several thick blankets followed, along with some steaming dishes.

These dishes were prepared in advance by Ji Jiangci and placed in the space; time doesn't flow there, so even after a hundred years they retain their original state.

Gu Feng pursed his lips, sincerely praising: "Your ability is truly powerful."

If he could be as strong as the females, he wouldn't have to keep scrambling for missions.

Bao Jing hummed, his tone carrying a barely perceptible pride.

"That's natural, and besides, who's wife is it anyway?"

Gu Feng squinted and whispered into his ear: "Maybe someday it'll be me."

"You!" Bao Jing grabbed Gu Feng, about to strike, but Lin Zhi Jing stopped him.

"Enough, stop messing around." Lin Zhi Jing calmly commanded: "First set up the tents; the temperature seems to be dropping further."

Hearing this, Bao Jing released Gu Feng, and each went about their tasks.

Ji Jiangci already began assembling the tent frames, moving skillfully and quickly.

The five tents formed a circle, and Gu Feng lit a fire at the center.

The orange‑red flames flickered, illuminating the tents brightly and dispersing the lingering chill inside.

Ye Xi'an watched enviously; indeed, the Fire System Ability was not only powerful but also extremely practical.

The five males arranged each person's patrol schedule; the first half‑night patrol was assigned to Gu Feng, while the others went to sleep.

Ji Jiangci entered Ye Xi'an's tent, removed his cold‑laden coat and trousers, and carefully lifted the blanket to crawl inside.

Ye Xi'an hadn't slept yet; when Ji Jiangci lay down, she kept her round purple cat‑like pupils fixed on him.

The female beast‑person's hair grew quickly; what was once shoulder‑length now reached her chest, and the purple hair lay obediently on Ye Xi'an's face, making her look like a cub waiting to be fed.

Ji Jiangci, embarrassed, met her gaze and, somewhat unwillingly, said: "It's too cold here; we won't mate today."

Ye Xi'an's face flushed; who wants to mate! There are so many people; she's just excited by the new planet and can't sleep!

She was about to speak when midnight arrived; she closed her eyes and fell asleep.

Ji Jiangci watched Ye Xi'an fall asleep in a second, let out a snort—laugh; she'd just been so worked up that she probably wanted to say she wanted to mate.

Then he hugged Ye Xi'an, gently pinching the soft flesh on her face: "What a little glutton." He then darkened, his voice hoarse: "When I recover, I'll make sure you eat your fill."

A silent night.

At dawn the next day, Ye Xi'an was awakened by a faint crackle.

She opened her eyes and saw Gu Feng adding dry, withered plant branches he'd found outside to the fire.

The flames licked the twigs, producing a light pop and bringing fresh warmth to the new day.

The others inside the tent gradually woke up as well.

"Morning, An'an."

Bao Jing, half‑asleep, greeted, his face still bearing a red imprint from the blanket.

Ye Xi'an stretched lazily, feeling much more refreshed.

"Morning."

She looked at Gu Feng, who simply nodded and continued to tend the fire attentively.

Lin Zhi Jing had already risen, checking the equipment and food they'd brought.

"Today we'll explore the nearby area first, see if there's any valuable resources."

His voice remained as calmly steady as always, effortlessly convincing.

"This cave itself is strange; maybe there's something good inside."

Bao Jing seemed eager, his gaze scanning the deep walls of the cavern.

Ji Jiangci was more meticulous: "We should first familiarize ourselves with the surroundings; safety comes first."

Ye Xi'an agreed: "Hmm, let's circle around the cave entrance first; we haven't studied those blue plants closely yet."

She still remembered those peculiar blue grasses that could grow in extreme cold.

After a simple meal of compressed rations, everyone prepared to set out.

Gu Feng naturally walked at the front, the flame in his hand like a scout's lamp, illuminating the unknown darkness ahead.

Lin Zhi Jing and Bao Jing guarded Ye Xi'an on either side, while Ji Jiangci and Yi Yang followed behind, vigilantly watching the surroundings.

The snow cave's structure was more complex than they imagined, twisting and turning like a natural labyrinth.

Besides the blue plants on the cave wall, some moss emitting a faint glow grew sporadically, adding a touch of mysterious beauty to the dark place.

"This place seems to have a wind."

Gu Feng, walking at the front, suddenly stopped and listened attentively.

Everyone held their breath and focused, indeed feeling a faint current from deep within the cave, bringing an even more piercing chill.
