Chapter 33: Lin Zhi Jing
Doctor Lin wore a spotless white coat; beneath his silver‑rimmed glasses, his phoenix‑shaped eyes flicked up at the corners. Even without a stern look, just gazing at you sent a chill down your spine.
Moreover, his clearly annoyed expression made the previously hurried soldiers halt, snap into formation, and salute him, speaking with strained voices:
"Doctor Lin, there's someone who urgently needs treatment—please take a look."
Lin Zhi Jing glanced at the speaking soldier with a light gaze, his voice cold enough to condense ice shards: "Could you please knock before entering next time? Stop barging in with your brawny body—this is already the fifth door I've replaced this month."
Though the words were polite, no one felt he was speaking kindly, and it was obvious he was displeased.
Everyone in the camp knew that when Doctor Lin was unhappy, everyone would suffer; for a moment no one dared to speak.
But Ye Xi'an couldn't care whether he was pleased or not; she pushed through the crowd of tall soldiers, stood before Lin Zhi Jing, eyes red, and pleaded: "Doctor, please save him—he's been bleeding nonstop."
Hearing a female voice, Lin Zhi Jing shifted his gaze from the soldier's face to Ye Xi'an; the soldier finally relaxed, yet worried for Ye Xi'an under Doctor Lin's stare—when Doctor Lin is angry, would he even bully a female?
Lin Zhi Jing scanned Ye Xi'an from head to toe; her tight suit was torn to shreds, revealing snow‑white flesh beneath, the remaining scraps almost dyed red by blood—without even looking at the wounded, it was clear she was severely injured.
But... a flicker of doubt crossed Lin Zhi Jing's eyes: "How did you get here?"
You should know this is the most remote military training base in the Free Zone, with no transport leading here—how did this frail female, carrying a heavily wounded male, manage to arrive?
"It's not about the doctor—first save him, then you can ask me anything."
Ye Xi'an was nearly frantic; Bao Jing's wounds kept bleeding, yet the doctor still had the leisure to ask her that.
"Oh right!" Ye Xi'an lifted her arm to Lin Zhi Jing, showing him the balance in her account: "As long as you cure him, all this money is yours!"
Lin Zhi Jing glanced at the red mole on Ye Xi'an's arm, raised an eyebrow, and said: "Are you trying to insult me with money?"
Ye Xi'an blinked—so he's a doctor of high integrity? He doesn't look the part.
"Sorry, I offended you—I shouldn't have tried to bribe you with money. But..." Ye Xi'an choked up, looking at the soldier holding the unconscious Bao Jing: "But please, just save him first?"
Lin Zhi Jing kept his cold face: "You misunderstand—I'm saying this money is too little."
Anyone begging him to save a life would normally pay hundreds of millions; this amount isn't even enough for his travel expenses.
Ye Xi'an parted her lips slightly, watching the doctor dodge the topic of treating Bao Jing; a breath caught in her chest, neither up nor down, her nose tip reddened, on the verge of tears—she quickly lowered her head so no one would see her embarrassed state.
Her feigned toughness even moved the nearby soldiers, who all spoke up for Ye Xi'an: "Why not, Doctor Lin, just save him?"
Lin Zhi Jing showed no hesitation; instead, he picked up the cold‑glinting scalpel nearby and turned it over in his hand.
"Do you really want to save him?"
Ye Xi'an nodded immediately: "As long as you can save him, I'll do anything!"
"What about a drug trial?"
As soon as the words "drug trial" were spoken, the nearby soldiers' expressions turned horrified, and they looked at Ye Xi'an with sympathy.
The last person Doctor Lin used for a drug trial is still soaking in water to this day, because his reagent is too extreme—after injection, the genitalia swelled to three times its size, and upon emerging from the water it kept expanding, feeling like it could explode any second.
Who would dare bet on whether it will explode? One can only wait honestly for the drug's effects to wear off.
Besides that, there are many other reagents with various effects, but without exception, they're all aberrant.
The drugs are so potent that even males can't withstand them—just imagining what they'd do to a female is unthinkable.
The soldier advised: "Little female, I urge you not to—you might die! If you die, he still won't survive, and you'll have wasted your own life for nothing."
But Ye Xi'an couldn't care less about those warnings—Bao Jing ended up like this precisely because he was trying to save her.
"Sure! As long as you can revive him, I don't mind how many trials you run."
