Chapter 64: Can't Eat Cold
Seeing Bao Jing look distressed, Ye Xi'an's heart clenched as if seized, waves of pain, feeling both heartache and guilt.
Actually, thinking it over, telling them wouldn't matter; it's just that she can't wake up, not like her medicated constitution that easily invites trouble.
Ye Xi'an pulled Bao Jing into her embrace to comfort him, but touching his bare upper body still made her a little embarrassed; it seems she needs to buy him clothes today, and herself a set as well.
"Don't worry, I won't fail to wake up. Besides, hearing you say that, I feel I've never woken up in the middle of the night; it must have been a childhood habit, but look at me now—I'm still fine, right?"
But Bao Jing still worried; he rose from Ye Xi'an's embrace, looked at her solemnly, and said, "Should we go to the hospital to get checked?"
Ye Xi'an's expression stalled: "No need, I don't feel uncomfortable at all. If I ever feel unwell later, I'll tell you and then go to the hospital."
As Ye Xi'an spoke, she suddenly caught a whiff of fragrance—a vegetable aroma she hadn't smelled in ages; saliva almost came out, she strained to spot food through the gaps between the few males, but they stood too tightly, so she could only ask, "Did someone cook at home?"
"It's not homemade; I ordered takeout last night, but it's all cold now." Lin Zhi Jing saw Ye Xi'an awake, then remembered to open the untouched takeout: "Do any of you have Fire System Ability? If so, heat the food."
"We don't have Fire System Ability, but we can eat the food cold anyway." Ji Jiangci walked over, only then discovering Lin Zhi Jing had bought a tableful of dishes, wondering if Lin Zhi Jing had also bought meals for the rest of them.
Lin Zhi Jing seems decent after all; my impression of him has improved considerably—household males are never that bad.
Ji Jiangci picked up his chopsticks, scraped the surface of the food into a separate box, and said, "Wife, come eat."
Hearing Ji Jiangci call her "wife," Ye Xi'an felt a current surge from the back of her neck to her scalp, tingling waves, her ears itchy and numb; she rubbed her ears, still not used to it.
She rose from the bed, sat at the table, picked up her chopsticks to eat, but Lin Zhi Jing snatched them away: "It's been sitting out all night; better not eat it, or you'll get diarrhea."
"I don't mind," Ye Xi'an said, feeling wronged; she hadn't had a proper meal in ages.
Her already skinny body had now flattened into a sheet of paper.
"Let's go to Huan Li later to buy something hot to eat." Lin Zhi Jing absolutely could not tolerate the female he liked eating cold food.
Looking at a table full of delicious food she couldn't eat, Ye Xi'an wanted to cry but had no tears: "What should we do with all this food? We can't just throw it away—that would be wasteful."
"Let Bao Jing eat it." Lin Zhi Jing lightly lifted his chin toward Bao Jing and the others: "If Bao Jing finishes it, there'll be no waste."
Lin Zhi Jing's mouth curled with a grim smile; he deliberately insulted Bao Jing to get revenge for yesterday's slight.
Yet, seeing Bao Jing calmly walk over, sit down, grab his chopsticks and start shoveling food, oil ringing his mouth.
These takeout places are considerate, providing napkins; Bao Jing took one, wiped his mouth clean, and continued eating.
Ji Jiangci and Yi Yang also sat down accordingly, Yi Yang almost burying his head in his food bowl.
Only Ji Jiangci remained somewhat sensible, smiling and nodding at Lin Zhi Jing: "Thank you for the hospitality; I'm about to start eating."
Having said that, Ji Jiangci's expression instantly turned serious; he carefully wiped his chopsticks clean, his sharp gaze fixed on the food before him, and the next second he moved.
