Chapter 380: People Are Wicked, Still Clowns
Qilin also turned his head, "What's wrong?"
"I heard someone come in," Gu Rongjin said.
Qilin rejoiced: "Is it Senior Sister?!"
Gu Rongjin shook his head. "No."
"Could it be Senior Sister's companion, that… what death warrior captain?" Qilin wondered.
"If that were the case, they'd have split up, and we'd only hear one set of footsteps," Gu Rongjin said.
"What?! Then my senior sister would be in danger!!" Qilin, the more he thought, the more he felt something was off: "We need to quickly think of a way out!"
"Don't rush, rushing won't help; for now we can't get out, we can only meet up with that death warrior captain." Gu Rongjin said, "But we might not actually be able to meet him……"
Qilin: "But just now we never heard Senior Sister's footsteps, and now we can hear them—doesn't that prove we're already in the same space?"
Although he still couldn't understand why they weren't in the same space, perhaps it was just a blind, similar to an illusion.
He simply didn't get it; it was outside his field of study.
If Yuan Yan were here, that would be great!
"But no matter what, we have to turn back and look for people," Gu Rongjin said.
Qilin nodded, and they walked back together.
On this side, Cao Cixiu could also hear footsteps ahead, but when he quickened his pace, the footsteps were less than an inch in front of him, yet he still couldn't see anyone.
Just as Cao Cixiu stalled, out of the corner of his eye he saw two maggots crawling on the ground, wriggling slowly, tiny, and since it was still dark here, ordinary people would hardly notice them.
Since they crossed the suspension bridge, they hadn't seen any other living creatures—no birds, snakes, insects, or ants—so these two maggots were an unexpected delight.
Cao Cixiu crouched, then lay flat on the ground, listening to their whispered chatter.
The two maggots, not knowing whether they'd detected humans eavesdropping on their talk, hastily darted away as if fleeing!
He furrowed his brow and pulled out the fire striker from his pocket.
This was an improved fire striker, with tremendous power.
Now we can only use it.
Cao Cixiu smiled as he lit the fire striker—
Boom—
Boom—! Boom—!
Boom—! Boom—! Boom—!
Blasts came one after another, deafening, and in an instant the earth shook and mountains trembled!
The whole space began to collapse, but the collapse vanished in an instant, and the enclosed space suddenly seemed to open up—before their eyes everything became wide open!
As far as the eye could see was a valley landscape.
It was already daytime, probably early morning, with waves of bird song and floral fragrance drifting in; this place was completely different from when they'd arrived before, teeming with life, not a trace of deathly air.
Like a Peach Blossom Spring hidden in the mountains and forests, it was exceedingly beautiful, making one feel refreshed and delighted.
If one ignores the waves of nauseating miasma, this place is indeed not a bad spot for retiring to seclusion in the mountains and forests.
At that moment, Cao Cixiu finally saw Gu Rongjin and Qilin, not only them but also Mu Yuanzhi was there, plus a strange woman.
"Little Yuanzhi!"
"Senior Sister!"
Although they didn't know what had happened, suddenly bursts of explosion sounds came, then the space they were in collapsed for a while, and after regaining their senses they found themselves in this place.
Mu Yuanzhi's experience was different—she had been pulled out of chaos, and once her consciousness returned, she saw Qilin, Gu Rongjin, and Cao Cixiu.
And the Ruohua before her had reverted to how she first saw her.
"Are you okay, Little Yuanzhi?!" Gu Rongjin anxiously grabbed Mu Yuanzhi and looked her up and down.
Qilin also anxiously asked about this and that.
"I'm fine, I'm doing great," Mu Yuanzhi said.
Hearing that, the two relaxed, turning their gazes to Ruohua; they both knew who was behind this.
"How exactly did you break it?!?" Ruohua exclaimed incredulously, her face expressionless yet slightly twisted, incomprehension and resentment filling her eyes.
Cao Cixiu: "The outside world has changed so much; hiding here naturally means you're just a frog in a well."
"You think I enjoy being here?!" Ruohua glared angrily: "Do you know what it's like to be imprisoned in the swamp's depths? It's cold, filthy, endless loneliness…"
Her eyes showed sorrow and fear.
"I don't know how long I've been underground in the swamp; to me time seems meaningless—I won't age or die, forever in darkness."
Ruohua's eyes brimmed with hatred.
Mu Yuanzhi: "What crime did you commit to be imprisoned in the swamp's depths?"
Ruohua looked at Mu Yuanzhi: "Am I wrong? I merely fell in love with a man I shouldn't have."
She began to pity herself again.
"But I didn't even know at first that he was a Demonic Sect member!" Ruohua grew hysterical: "Besides, I haven't done anything heinous—I only learned some Demonic Sect techniques; does that make me a heretical demonic cultivator? I've never harmed anyone!"
Qilin furrowed his brow; even without anyone saying it, he vaguely knew who this woman was—a wayward disciple imprisoned here by the Ancestral Master.
Mu Yuanzhi chuckled: "Grudges have origins and debts have collectors; how do you count harming innocents now?"
"If they hadn't started the evil, imprisoning me here, would I seek revenge?! You speak while standing, no backache!" Ruohua pointed angrily at Mu Yuanzhi.
"I'm not speaking while standing; I'm sitting," Mu Yuanzhi said calmly.
Ruohua initially didn't understand what Mu Yuanzhi meant, but she quickly grasped it: "You're saying you're also a pitiful person like me?"
Mu Yuanzhi: "I'm not like you; I won't harm innocents."
Ruohua laughed, her laughter making her branches tremble; after the piercing laugh, she shrugged and looked at Mu Yuanzhi: "You're so noble, you're really not like me."
Gu Rongjin didn't want to hear her past: "Just how did you make the miasma like this?"
"Want to know?" Ruohua smiled, looking at Gu Rongjin: "Kiss me once and I'll tell you."
"Are you sick!" Qilin bellowed.
"Speak to your grand-uncle like that?" Ruohua glanced at Qilin: "Really lacking manners; now Juechen Valley is in the hands of people like you? It's also gone to ruin."
Qilin: "You wicked disciple, you were expelled from the sect long ago; what does Juechen Valley have to do with you now?"
"Fine, if he won't kiss, it's the same if he comes instead." Ruohua pointed at Cao Cixiu.
Cao Cixiu said nothing, just gave Ruohua a cold stare.
Ruohua also looked at him, and Qilin had the feeling these two might take a liking to each other.
After all, the death warrior chief's first impression of him was just a dreary, damp sort of person, like that whatever Sima.
But upon reflection, a person with aspirations shouldn't be so tasteless.
At least in his view, this woman aside from her face being barely passable is good for nothing, like a clown.
A bad person who's also a clown—what poor taste would make someone like her? I'd guess the demon sect leader is just using her.
