Chapter 410: Traitor
Pei Shangling: "Wait till you've used up your brains, then everything up there will be smashed!"
He was so anxious he was about to die!
I don't even know how Ah Zhi and the children are doing!
"I believe Master Yuan Yan will definitely have a way." Gu Rongjin said confidently, "The more critical the moment, the less we can afford to panic, or we'll only fall deeper into the enemy's trap."
Pei Shangling chuckled: "You've already fallen for it."
Gu Rongjin curled the lips into a smile, gauged the direction, then grabbed Pei Shangling and flung them away!
Pei Shangling, who hadn't even had time to react, was tossed aside like a useless object by Gu Rongjin and flung to a spot on the high point of the earlier valley.
Gu Rongjin's arm strength and inner power were astonishingly strong; even in such a high, hidden place, Gu Rongjin could accurately hurl Pei Shangling over.
Having recovered inner power martial arts, Pei Shangling naturally wasn't willing to just be flung away like that; at the crucial moment of landing, Pei Shangling flipped and landed steadily on the ground.
But in Gu Rongjin's view, it was a terribly embarrassing landing.
Nevertheless, it didn't matter; it proved Gu Rongjin's earlier guess was correct—there was no mechanism there.
But immediately, the illusion formation took effect; the spot where Gu Rongjin had just thrown things was no longer the original spot.
However, it was fine; the solution to the illusion formation had long been etched into Gu Rongjin's mind—the monk had only said it once, and he remembered it.
Gu Rongjin silently recited the heart technique taught by the monk, then leapt up!
Wait for me, little Yuanzhi!
Rongjin?!
Mu Yuanzhi seemed to hear Gu Rongjin calling her; she looked around, but there was no sign of Gu Rongjin.
Gu Rongjin must be nearby!
Thinking that, Mu Yuanzhi felt much more relieved.
"Master!"
Qiao Chu came over, staggering with his sword; Qiao Chu was covered in blood, clearly having just gone through a deadly battle.
"Little Chu!" the Qilin anxiously wanted to go help the disciple, but the monk held the Qilin back, and the Qilin could barely move.
The Qilin's current state also made walking difficult.
"Master!" Qiao Chu knelt with a thud, blaming himself so much he couldn't lift his head: "Sorry! I couldn't protect the valley! Fellow disciples…… casualties are heavy!"
"What?!" the Qilin nearly lost footing,
One phrase 'heavy casualties' was enough for the Qilin to clearly realize how out of control things had become.
The Qilin could hear the clashing of blades, sparks flying in its nerves, exploding and making its scalp go numb.
How could this be?!
How did things come to this?!
It's all his fault!
How could he come up with such a poor plan as "luring the enemy into a jar"?
Isn't this just inviting the wolf into the house?!
It's all because he was blindly overconfident, thinking that with Yuan Yan, Gu Rongjin, Cao Cixiu, and those several thousand death warriors on his side, he could afford to be careless!
The Qilin closed its eyes, a wave of suffocation rising in its chest.
"Master!" Qiao Chu rose and hurried to help the Qilin: "Master, don't be too sad; I've already brought the wounded and the other disciples to the Hangu Cave for refuge, as you instructed."
The Qilin looked at Qiao Chu: "Everyone's taken refuge in the Hangu Cave?"
"Yes! Master, please rest assured!" Qiao Chu nodded firmly.
"Really? You've done well, Qiao Chu." the Qilin said, pushing Qiao Chu's hand away.
"Master?" a flicker of doubt crossed Qiao Chu's eyes, then he tried to help the Qilin again: "Master, are you alright?"
"Qiao Chu, since you've already reached the Hangu Pass, how could you have noticed nothing?" the Qilin stared at Qiao Chu and asked.
"What should I have noticed? Master, could I have missed something? Tell me, I'll go right away!" Qiao Chu exclaimed excitedly.
Mu Yuanzhi and the monk exchanged a glance; she immediately understood the suddenly somewhat eerie atmosphere—it seemed there was some hidden matter.
The Qilin's gaze toward Qiao Chu was filled with deep disappointment; he didn't want to believe the truth, but he had no choice but to accept it.
"Qiao Chu, if you really brought all the fellow disciples to the Hangu Cave, the illusion formation placed in the valley would fail, and you would discover that the supposedly injured disciples were actually fine—it's all a blinding tactic."
"Blinding tactic…?" Qiao Chu murmured the word.
Qiao Chu instantly understood.
So everything he just saw was an illusion?!
No one injured? No one dead?!
"Qiao Chu, why did you betray the sect?!" the Qilin rarely shouted in anger, "Do you know how disappointed I am in you!"
Qiao Chu stepped back a few steps, stared at the Qilin, tore apart his usual gentle facade, and countered the Qilin: "Master? You said you trusted me, so why hide things from me?! Why didn't you tell me that entering the Hangu Pass would dispel the blinding tactic?!"
"You dare to question me? I really hadn't doubted you; I didn't tell you because I didn't even tell my own senior sister, as there was no need." the Qilin said, "But I never expected this to become evidence of your betrayal—you didn't follow my instructions to look for them, you threw away your fellow disciples!"
Qiao Chu shook his head, shaking it hard: "No, Master, you don't trust me; you should have told me everything!"
Mu Yuanzhi really couldn't stand this person, who could still twist arguments like that—what a sick individual!
"You've betrayed the sect and still speak so shamelessly? It's ridiculous!" Mu Yuanzhi couldn't help but speak up.
"Senior Uncle, one thing is one thing—how could you possibly compare them? Betraying the master is one matter; the master not trusting me is another!" Qiao Chu became somewhat hysterical.
The monk laughed: "Patron Qilin, you've really summoned back a mad dog."
"I really can't judge people..."
Just like when he was first deceived terribly by Pei Shangling, after all these years and experiences, he still hasn't made any progress.
Can someone like him really revive the sect? If it weren't for Yuan Yan being here today, the valley would have fallen into what kind of crisis—he dare not even think.
Even now, the crisis hasn't been resolved.
Master! You can't say that! You still have me and all the outer disciples!
Yueyun's loud voice burst in! Behind her were a group of outer disciples who had followed her here.
Mu Yuanzhi counted, and everyone was present—none missing.
Yueyun... everyone's all right!
Although there was a bewildering formation, seeing that everyone was safe, the Qilin finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Fortunately, he didn't kill anyone!
I didn't see this traitor! Following your orders, I brought all the junior brothers to Hangu Cave; upon entering Hangu Cave I realized it was all an illusion, the junior brothers who were supposedly dead were jumping about alive, and after we came out of Hangu Cave we discovered it actually leads directly to Master Yuan Yan's place—Master, your calculations are truly miraculous!
"Senior Sister?" Qiao Chu stared at Yueyun in disbelief, "How could you know what Master and I were saying? Did you eavesdrop on our conversation?" He was furious, demanding sharply.
Yueyun isn't afraid of Qiao Chu now, with everyone here—what, could he possibly eat her? Hmph!
