Chapter 61
Gu Rongjin said discontentedly.
Mu Yuanzhi: ……
"You can't refute that, can you? As your husband, I know I'm quite tempting to you." Gu Rongjin pushed his luck.
"You're not done, are you?" Mu Yuanzhi twitched her eyebrows.
"My lady, don't be angry out of embarrassment."
"I'll hit you!"
Mu Yuanzhi made a move to beat someone.
Gu Rongjin liked her this way; obviously she should be living carefree and unrestrained, but she always repressed herself, making him feel heartbroken watching her.
"Don't, I'll treat you to osmanthus cake later? After you confiscate Pei Shangling's household?"
The first time he saw her, he treated her to osmanthus cake, but she probably doesn't remember.
Because she had just been born then, how could she eat osmanthus cake? He was also young, didn't understand these things, just wanted to feed his cute little sister something to eat, and was laughed at by the Grand General and his wife.
At that time he didn't know that such a warm scene would never be seen again.
The battle was won, but the General and his wife couldn't return; he followed his father's main force back to Jingcheng, and the adorable, pitiful little sister was taken into the palace, after which she became someone else's little sister.
He thought as long as she was happy that would be fine, but now it seems she is not happy.
Mu Yuanzhi didn't notice Gu Rongjin's expression change, only feeling that the phrase "confiscate the household" was used well; if she could one day confiscate the Pei household, dying would be worth it.
"Sure, you treat me."
"Of course!"
"First go to Pei Shangling's largest villa."
"No rush, don't startle the snake, first ask for directions." Gu Rongjin implied something.
"Ask for directions?" Mu Yuanzhi thought a moment and understood, "You mean your informants?"
"Of course, such a big person wandering around Jingcheng, my informants surely have seen him; then we'll net Pei Shangling in one go!" Gu Rongjin said confidently.
"Makes sense." If, due to a stir, Pei Shangling had people move the Qilin, it would be hard for her to find it again.
"Qilin, don't get into trouble!"
At this moment, the Qilin was in a villa, he couldn't idle, couldn't bear to look at the medical record Pei Shangling gave him.
"I say, brother, I've already written down the method to neutralize your great-grandmother's poison; when will you take me into the palace to resolve it? After I solve it, I still need to find my senior sister!" The Qilin crossed his arms.
Pei Shangling didn't like being called brother by others, but this Qilin was overly familiar; to appear friendly yet not show displeasure, he could only endure the goosebumps and let him be.
"Don't rush, I'll take you in after nightfall."
"Naturally we can't enter the palace in broad daylight; what if Mu Yuanzhi sees the Qilin?"
"Wait until nightfall? That's a long time!" The Qilin glanced at the sky; it was only evening.
"These are palace rules; you wouldn't want your senior sister to break the rules and be blamed, would you?" Pei Shangling said.
Upon hearing that it might cause trouble for Mu Yuanzhi, the Qilin quieted down, sat back, bored and waiting.
"Your Highness!"
Pei Shangling's palace attendants rushed over, whispering in his ear: "Outside, many troops have suddenly surrounded our courtyard!"
"Who dares to be so bold as to surround this prince's courtyard!" Pei Shangling angrily slapped the table.
The Qilin instantly turned solemn: "Brother, what's happening?"
"It might be my enemy, a guy named Gu Rongjin who pulls toads, ignorant of heaven and earth, wanting to marry your senior sister, just a dissolute playboy who does nothing but frequent brothels." Pei Shangling hastily fabricated a lie and took the chance to slander Gu Rongjin.
"Outrageous! I'll go deal with them!" The Qilin said and was about to leave.
"Come back!" Pei Shangling, the more he thought, the more uneasy he felt; to be safe, he had to first get rid of the Qilin.
He grabbed the Qilin's collar and pulled him back, then summoned the dark guard: "Take him away, just bring him somewhere for now."
"Subordinate understands!"
"Why do I have to leave?" The Qilin didn't understand.
"Staying here might be dangerous." Pei Shangling, too lazy to keep fabricating, signaled the dark guard to hurry.
"Qilin!"
Mu Yuanzhi's clear voice rang out from outside the great courtyard.
"Senior sister!" The Qilin jumped up entirely.
Although he hadn't heard Mu Yuanzhi's voice in ten years, he still recognized it immediately.
Pei Shangling gritted his teeth fiercely; he hadn't expected Mu Yuanzhi to find him so quickly! And she brought troops—where did she get them?
Never mind all that, first get the person out of here.
"What are you staring at? Take him away!"
Pei Shangling barked an order at the dark guard; the guard obeyed, directly hoisting the Qilin who wanted to leave.
"What are you doing?!" Suddenly everything spun, the dizzy Qilin, bewildered, said: "Brother, why won't you let me see my senior sister?"
"Because he's plotting scheming!" Gu Rongjin led a group of officials and soldiers charging in.
"Gu Rongjin, you have great gall!" Pei Shangling shouted angrily: "Do you still have any regard for this prince in your eyes?"
Gu Rongjin? The Qilin, hanging upside down on the dark guard's shoulder, was just about to look at that hateful Gu Rongjin when suddenly he was lifted into the air.
"Trying to escape?" Gu Rongjin leapt, directly kicking the highly skilled dark guard down, and the Qilin also fell out.
"Qilin!" Mu Yuanzhi became anxious.
The Qilin's martial arts were only mediocre.
Gu Rongjin backhandedly scooped up the fallen person at the waist and steadily set him back on the ground.
The frightened Qilin hadn't yet regained his senses, not even noticing Mu Yuanzhi approaching.
"Qilin!" Mu Yuanzhi fiercely embraced her junior brother.
In her previous life, she wanted to hug him one last time but couldn't; he had his hands and feet cut off by Pei Shangling and was made into a human pig, then placed in a water vat until he died.
"Senior sister..." he said, feeling a bit unable to catch his breath.
As expected, the senior sister also became very excited upon seeing him.
The Qilin was overjoyed.
Gu Rongjin muttered discontentedly: "Even if it's senior sister and junior brother, shouldn't there be some sense of boundaries?"
Is this how you hug? He's never hugged this tightly before!
Pei Shangling also felt his eyes sting at this sight; after a long moment he reacted and wanted to question those who had forcibly broken into his residence: "You dare to rebel and trespass into this prince's residence?!"
"Fourth Prince, that's not correct; we have an imperial decree." Gu Rongjin said, producing the emperor's decree given to Mu Yuanzhi.
"What?!" Pei Shangling exclaimed in disbelief.
Why would the Father Emperor issue such a bewildering decree? What did he do?
Pei Shangling didn't believe it, grabbed it and flipped it open; sure enough it was the Father Emperor's handwriting, with the jade seal's imprint.
"How did you trick this imperial decree out of them?" Pei Shangling asked fiercely.
Mu Yuanzhi gently pushed the Qilin aside, protecting him behind her, and said: "I haven't even asked you yet, Pei Shangling—what do you intend by hiding my junior brother?!"
The Qilin couldn't figure out what was going on; why did it seem like the senior sister and older brother were at odds?
Did they argue?
Looks like they're arguing quite fiercely!
"Don't put it so harshly; he stayed here willingly." Pei Shangling lifted his chin, "If you don't believe me, ask him yourself."
"It's like this, senior sister; don't misunderstand."
