Chapter 314: Explosive Power
"A bunch of uneducated bandits—old Wang has the right vision. Today, you'll see what true explosive art looks like!"
Zhang Su was dissatisfied with everyone's reaction; after speaking, he handed the bottle to Yu Qing.
"I'm not good with fine control—Teacher Yu, you handle it. Take half a milliliter of liquid and drip it into this small medicine bottle..."
"No!" Fu Weijun quickly interrupted Zhang Su, holding up his palm with serious intensity: "Zero point five—no more than half a milliliter. Trust me."
Yu Qing looked at Zhang Su; she would follow his decision without question.
"Mr. Zhang, we're only testing. Too much would cause unnecessary loss—we'll need the rest for greater purposes."
Fu Weijun realized his tone had been too harsh, making the atmosphere awkward, so he quickly softened his words and spoke again.
"Alright, let's be conservative—half a milliliter it is."
Zhang Su had wanted a full milliliter because whole numbers were easier to compare; since even bold Fu Weijun had become cautious, he had no reason to insist.
Yu Qing received clear instructions and, under the camp lamp's glow, skillfully used a dropper to extract exactly half a milliliter of purple liquid from the glass bottle, then carefully dripped it into the plastic medicine bottle.
"Done."
After finishing, Yu Qing capped both bottles. Seeing how cautious Zhang Su was—even refusing to hand them over—she placed them on a rock, waiting for him to take them himself.
"I'll find a spot. You all wait here."
Zhang Su knew the raw toxin wouldn't be as unstable as nitroglycerin, but he still handled it gently—tucking the glass bottle into his pocket and taking the small medicine bottle as he walked deeper into the mountain ravine.
He walked steadily forward until faint murmurs reached his ears—he realized he hadn't turned on his flashlight!
Walking across the mountain terrain in complete darkness as if on flat ground earned everyone's awe.
"Damn, once you get used to it, it's a hassle."
Zhang Su slowed his pace and casually switched on his flashlight, intending to hang it on his chest—but he had no backpack, so he held it in hand, feeling like he'd just taken off his pants to fart.
When he first gained superhuman vision, he always remembered to conceal it. But as days passed and he used it more freely, he often forgot to hide his strength—though those around him never noticed. This time, though, it was too obvious...
"Damn, is Brother Su heading somewhere? Did he get possessed or something...?"
"Bullshit—what's left to possess? Can anything be more possessed than zombies? He's just thinking of our safety!"
"Stop! Brother Su's stopped!"
Wu Lue held a uniquely designed telescope—the thermal imaging scope brought back from the Azure Dragon Corps, a high-end, impressive piece of gear.
The mountain path was rugged, the night pitch-black; everyone struggled to judge how far Zhang Su had gone, but they were certain it was much farther than last time when Yu Qing's bomb was detonated.
Trusting Zhang Su and aware of his cautious nature, everyone's joking expressions faded, and they unconsciously edged closer toward camp.
Zhang Su stood beside a tree, scanning the area. The nearest flammable material was twenty to thirty meters away—a very open space.
"Here's perfect!"
He opened the medicine bottle, tilted it against the tree so the raw toxin inside could gather tightly. The strange viscous liquid remained fluid within the plastic bottle, not clinging to the walls at all—once tilted, it instantly pooled into a single point.
Then he pulled a fuse from his pocket, straightened it, and inserted one end into the bottle, ensuring contact with the tiny amount of raw toxin inside.
"What the hell's the chemical formula here? So smooth... damn, this little bit's not even enough to give me confidence!"
Zhang Su pulled out a lighter, muttering to himself—he'd once watched a MythBusters video where they tested nitroglycerin; thirty milliliters could blast a steel plate, bigger than a palm and two centimeters thick, over thirty meters away—but that was thirty milliliters...
"Come on, don't let me down!"
*Click-click*—the lighter ignited the fuse. Zhang Su leapt and ran back toward camp. When he reached the group, he saw they'd all retreated further...
"Damn, weren't you all mocking me earlier? Now you're scared?"
Zhang Su mocked the group.
"Hehe... better safe than sorry. Here, Brother Su, we saved you a good spot."
Wu Lue grinned and gestured for Zhang Su to take cover behind a large rock.
Looking toward the deep ravine, the ground sloped gently upward. Everyone tilted their heads, staring into the darkness. Twenty to thirty seconds passed—still no movement.
"Did it fizzle out?"
"Teacher Yu, did the fuse get damp?"
"Wait! It's one meter long—the timer hasn't run out!"
Zhang Su told the impatient ones to shut up. In the darkness, he couldn't see the fuse—but he could see the glowing spot crawling along it, and the distance to the bottle. No more than ten seconds left.
As the fuse burned into the bottle, Zhang Su's heart tightened.
"Time's up!"
As he spoke, a tiny red dot appeared far away—less than a hundredth of a second later...
A brilliant purple glow erupted in the distance, casting an eerie luminescence across the ravine. The glow, at least ten meters wide, stretched and then instantly erased the shadows of trees—obliterating them in an instant. In that flash, everyone clearly saw the jagged rocks of the cliff face!
*BOOM!
"Down!"
The moment the explosion hit, Zhang Su roared, yanking Wu Lue—who stood frozen—and the wheelchair's handle, dragging them both behind the large rock!
*Whoosh...
Before they could react, a powerful gust swept over the rock, hurling sand and gravel that pattered against the stone like gunfire, accompanied by curses and shouts.
"Oh shit!"
"Damn it! I'm scarred!"
"Hah! I'm wrapped up tight—no problem..."
Thick down jackets protected their bodies, but exposed faces took the brunt—several unlucky ones were left bleeding.
After the massive explosion and the windstorm, the air carried no smell of gunpowder or chemicals—only a faint, unique, sweet fragrance.
Normal explosions ignited nearby flammable materials, but this one didn't. After the purple glow faded, darkness returned to the distance. If not for witnessing it, no one would've believed such a violent explosion had just occurred.
"Brother Su! Brother Su! Was that you guys?"
Zhang Ya's voice crackled through the radio—she'd felt the ground tremble from the control room.
*Rustle-rustle.
Zhang Su stood up, gestured for Wu Lue to help Fu Weijun back into his wheelchair, then pulled his radio from his belt: "Yes, it was us. Don't worry."
"Cough... pfft."
Fu Weijun sat back in his wheelchair, coughing repeatedly. The fall had been hard—he'd swallowed dirt. After spitting a few times, he chuckled bitterly: "This power... I didn't expect it."
Everyone present was stunned—who could've expected this?
Chemistry teacher Yu Qing was equally stunned. The more one understood the principles, the less one could explain what had just happened. After witnessing it, she wanted to scream: "Chemistry is dead!"
"Teacher Yu, according to you... wait—no!"
Zhang Su was about to ask Yu Qing how this explosion's power would compare to human technology—when he suddenly saw an accident unfolding far away!
Before anyone understood what he meant, a deep rumbling echoed from afar. Everyone turned toward the sound—but the darkness hid everything.
*Crash...
Before they could react, a heavy thud struck the ground—not as loud as the explosion, but carrying the weight of a thousand tons.
Zhang Su clearly saw a massive slab of rock, two stories tall, break free from the mountainside and crash straight into the crater left by the blast—leaving only a jagged peak, about a person's height, sticking up...
