Chapter 330: Ecological Protection Benefits Physical and Mental Health
“This doesn’t make sense?”
Fang Hao stood frozen, staring at what was happening inside his chemical plant, dazed and disoriented, as if he had crossed over into another world—yet the factory’s layout remained painfully familiar.
His mind froze, unable to process it, standing there like a system crash.
Inside the plant, the foxes and bears dismantling the structures also noticed the violent tremor caused by the collapsed gate—and the middle-aged man standing dumbstruck before it.
“Is this… the boss?”
An Sheng, standing on the truck’s roof, looked toward the worker crouching with his hands on his head.
“Yes! He’s our boss!” The supervisor, who had arrived at the plant before Fang Hao, met Fu Li Lao Ye’s gaze, his eyes darting as he tried to turn state’s evidence and point the finger at the mastermind.
“Cat Brother, go! Grab him!”
Having been identified by the workers, An Sheng turned to the fat cat, who had just been playing bowling.
The panda, wearing a hard hat on its head, landed on all fours and sprinted toward the gate. Fang Hao, paralyzed in place, saw a massive panda with a snarling grin, tongue lolling, eyes blazing as it fixed him with a predatory stare—his hair stood on end, his scalp prickled.
“Fuck! A bear!”
“Bear your ass! It’s a cat!”
Fang Hao let out a curse and scrambled, crawling and rolling toward town.
The fat cat chased after him, growling in irritation, leaping to pin him down, then using its massive paws to grind his back into the dirt twice before dragging him back.
To the fat cat, though it knew it was a Qinling panda, due to the headmaster of Xiqi Campus’s egregious cruelty, it refused to acknowledge itself as a bear.
A panda as magnificent as it was must be feline or canine—absolutely not some terrifying ursine beast.
“Why are you running?”
Seeing Fang Hao tossed back by the fat cat, An Sheng spoke in human voice: “I heard your factory’s been booming lately—constantly dumping wastewater into the ditches, even hiring well-drilling teams to pump chemical effluent underground, right?”
“I think your methods are great. You’ve been adding shit to my food—and my brothers’—nearly giving us all diarrhea until we were dehydrated, our asses burning like hell. How do we settle this?”
“Impossible! Absolutely impossible!” Fang Hao, though stunned that the fox could speak, fell back on years of habit—upon hearing key words, he instinctively tried to wash his hands clean.
“Our wastewater is loaded onto trucks and sent to treatment plants. There must be some misunderstanding—someone in the village must be jealous of my profits and reported me to environmental…”
But mid-sentence, Fang Hao froze. There was no way these creatures were sent by the Environmental Protection Bureau.
Or… did they even know what the Environmental Protection Bureau was?
“Don’t waste Fu Li Lao Ye’s time with lies. Security, go scoop a ladle from the well and bring it to the boss.”
An Sheng glanced at his watch, raised his hand, and beckoned the old man who had just wet himself to go to the pit they’d just found and scoop up a ladle of broth.
In moments, the security guard returned with a ladle full of multicolored broth, its surface shimmering with a layer of brownish-yellow oily foam, placing it before Fang Hao.
Fang Hao: “…”
Fang Hao knew better than anyone the potency of this broth—swallowing even a sip could trigger acute gastroenteritis; worse, it might send him straight into kidney failure.
“Fu Li Lao Ye isn’t a bad person.”
“I’m very democratic. You have three choices: drink the chemical baijiu before you, reincarnate as a Brahmin, or emulate the romantic French and do butterfly strokes in the pit. Otherwise, I’ll beat you up—and then we’re done.”
Fu Li Lao Ye revealed his four tails, pulled his signature giant hammer from the truck bed, and swung it slowly near Fang Hao’s head—as if aiming.
“Sorry! My mouth was hard! The pit’s wastewater contains hundreds of chemicals—I was wrong! I’ll compensate the foxes for their losses and treat the brothers to meals every day!”
Facing the broth and the hammer, Fang Hao forced a stiff, groveling smile and instantly surrendered, admitting his illegal dumping and agreeing to take full responsibility for all consequences.
“Why didn’t you admit it sooner?”
Fu Li Lao Ye set down the hammer, smiled, and waved to the black bear waiting nearby.
“Today, Fu Li Lao Ye is treating the entire factory—everyone gets the Big Stick Meal! All medical bills will be charged to the chemical plant boss’s bank card!”
“Oh, don’t beat the old man. Withdraw twenty thousand from his bank account as a fine.”
“Also, when you beat the chemical plant boss, make sure you hit evenly—he trains Iron Shirt. His mouth’s so tough, his body must be even tougher.”
Hearing this, the fat cat raised a paw and spoke to the three plump black bears and pandas:
“Fu Li Lao Ye says, when beating the chemical plant boss, don’t just focus on the ass—flip him over. But don’t break him apart.”
“Roar—”
The black bear nodded, pinned Fang Hao down, while another clumsily swung a wooden club, smashing it into Fang Hao’s buttocks. Fang Hao’s face instantly flushed crimson.
“Aaah—”
“It hurts! My god!”
Though wooden clubs were ill-suited for black bears—causing misalignment and uneven force—the bears’ raw strength made each blow devastating.
Each club strike landed hard on Fang Hao’s buttocks.
When they were done, the bear holding Fang Hao flipped him over, face-down toward the plant’s insulation ceiling. Fang Hao, still sobbing, froze, his expression stiff as he stared at the bear.
“Roar!”
The bear looked at him, nodded, and gave him a gentle smile before swinging the club horizontally across his face.
“Waaah—”
One blow, and Fang Hao instantly regressed to childhood—he burst into loud, wailing tears.
“…”
Shareholders of the Qinling Ecological Fox Foundation, having watched Fu Li Lao Ye subdue the factory, now gathered around. They watched Fang Hao being brutally beaten front and back by the black bears, their expressions complex—but secretly relieved.
At least being clubbed on the head didn’t seem so terrible after all.
Environmental protection is good!
If the forest environment improves, these elders can live peacefully in the woods without venturing out.
Yet at that moment, the shareholders seemed to spot something terrifying approaching—and all lowered their heads like quails, no longer daring to watch.
Lin Bingyun’s hired accounting team stepped forward, looked at Fang Hao, and said: “Where’s your ledger? Please hand over your company’s bank account keys and credit report. We’re a professional accounting team.”
“????” Fang Hao, gasping in pain, managed to blink a question at them.
What are you talking about?
Do I look like I have time?
“He won’t cooperate. Go get my knuckle dusters from the car. I’ve sat in an office too long—I almost forgot how to collect debts…”
The accountant set aside his laptop, draped his suit jacket over it, slipped on the knuckle dusters, and smiled warmly at Fang Hao: “You don’t need to answer my questions. The knuckle dusters will speak for you.”
………………
“After this, drive yourselves back. The forest rangers are coming with us.”
“Automatic cars are simple. I’ll give you a navigation map. Sit in the driver’s seat, don’t touch anything—just let the car idle and follow the route back to campus.”
“Oh, by the way—this is the brake. Remember to step on it when you see a red light.”
An Sheng handed over the internal affairs of the chemical plant to the Fox Foundation members and pulled the fat cat to the front of the van they’d arrived in, teaching it how to drive.
The forest ranger: “????”
No! This isn’t right! How can a panda drive?
Never mind legality—can it even drive?
And where are we going anyway?
