Chapter 128: PhD degree? Someone has seven, someone wants as many as they want
Culver University was a famous comprehensive university, and multiple disciplines in the university were ranked very high. Today was its appointment visit day.
"Professor Johnson, is this your alma mater?" Peter followed behind Johnson, looking at this school full of academic atmosphere.
Peter could see that one student after another was walking quickly in the school holding various books. This situation made him, a "bookworm," very happy.
In Peter's high school, there weren't many people who would read books after class. Otherwise, he wouldn't be recognized as an alien and bullied because of similar behavior.
"Yes, it's been a long time since I returned here." Johnson said with some emotion. "Peter, the biology major of Culver University is still quite good. I suggest you include it in your future university choices."
"Oh, Professor, aren't you an archaeologist? How can you have an understanding of the biology major?" Peter asked curiously.
"You might not believe it if I say it." Johnson had a taste of life. "I majored in biology as an undergraduate, took physics as a graduate student, and only transferred to archaeology for my PhD."
Continuously crazy cross-major, this made Peter a bit puzzled. He scratched his head and asked cautiously, "Is it because the score line for the archaeology PhD is relatively low?"
"Hahaha."
Johnson laughed. "If it's about grades, I was the second place in our major at the time. The first place was a pervert who later had seven PhD degrees. My advisor tried to persuade me for a long time when I wanted to transfer to archaeology."
"It's just that, in the process of learning biology and physics, I found too many problems that were difficult to explain, so I could only associate them with history and mystery, so I finally transferred."
"Then your advisor must be very angry." Peter's mind floated with the appearance of Aunt May being furious, and he shivered twice for no reason.
"That was still okay. Later, the archaeology PhD advisor was still found by my graduate advisor." Johnson continued. "My graduate advisor thought that I would just delay for two or three years and then go back to him to continue learning physics. The difference is not big."
"He definitely didn't expect that you would go further and further on this road." Peter said with a smile.
Johnson didn't deny it. Indeed, going further and further, but not in archaeology, but in occultism.
"Thomas Johnson?" A familiar voice sounded behind Johnson.
Johnson turned his head. It was a professor with gray hair. "Advisor? Long time no see!"
"Long time no see!" The advisor hugged Johnson. "I've heard about you from others. You are quite famous in the archaeology world now, mysterious Johnson."
"Not mysterious, they will only say I am neurotic." Johnson said with a smile.
The advisor looked at Johnson unexpectedly. "It seems that those people passed it on randomly. The words they passed on made me feel that you jumped from archaeology to become a wizard."
"Haha." Johnson laughed dryly. He didn't become a wizard, but it was almost the same.
"This little friend, hello." The advisor greeted Peter again.
"Hello, Professor." Peter said very politely. "Professor Johnson often mentions you to me, saying that the physics you teach is particularly good."
"Is that so? So you can still praise me, but I don't teach physics for the time being." The advisor said, waving his hand behind him, and a couple walked over.
"Introduce, this is Betty, this is Mark, who is studying for a PhD in psychology, and is also my student." The advisor introduced.
"Advisor, you... you transferred from physics to be a psychologist?" Johnson was surprised. This step was much bigger than his.
"Can't I transfer from physics to archaeology?" The advisor still seemed to have some grudges. "Seriously, I have encountered quite a few geniuses who make me difficult to understand. This makes me feel whether the brains of geniuses might have some problems."
"So you went to study psychology?! " Johnson didn't know what to say anymore. People often said he was a genius, but there were too many geniuses here, so many that he couldn't imagine. He didn't count as the most outrageous batch at all.
"Actually, I wanted to transfer to neurosurgery, but I was too old to transfer, so I could only study psychology, trying to understand what you are thinking." The advisor laughed, and then under Mark's prompt, looked at the time.
"Oh, I almost forgot, there is an academic conference, and this conference is attended by a doctor known as the Hand of God. Hmm, another genius, I don't know if the psychology is normal." The advisor looked thoughtful. "In this way, you take the little friend to stroll around first. We will gather again after the conference ends, chat and chat." 【128-31
After speaking, the mentor hurried away with his people, leaving behind Johnson and Peter, who were left dazed and confused.
"Professor Johnson, your mentor... is truly amazing," Peter exclaimed.
Such a person is truly beyond what ordinary people can imagine. A doctoral degree? It's only a matter of whether I want to get it or not; there is nothing I cannot obtain.
"Yeah, so now you know who I learned a part of my stubbornness from," Johnson said with a shrug. "Let's go. I'll take you to see a biological academic conference. I checked online, and it's starting soon; it should be more interesting than wandering around here."
"Okay!" Peter grew excited; this was his first time attending an academic conference.
"Don't set your expectations too high. The level of the attendees is uneven, and sometimes people send their students to just muddle through things," Johnson said, clearly well-versed in the ins and outs of it. "However, the tea breaks at biology conferences are usually quite good; you can look forward to that."
"Tea break?"
"Just think of it as a buffet. You can eat your fill then. Medical conferences usually run quite late, so it's good to avoid going hungry," Johnson continued.
"Oh, I see..."
"Actually, there's usually food after the conference ends, but since I have to be with my mentor tonight, we'll have to miss it," Johnson patted Peter on the shoulder. "My mentor is the best at knowing how to eat the best food for the least amount of money. That's a unique skill; I've never managed to master it."
"Really!" Peter's eyes lit up instantly; he wanted to learn that too!
Peter's family financial situation was not very good, and his pocket money was always scarce, so he was always agonizing over various choices—a standard price-sensitive customer.
"Of course. Let me tell you, my mentor once bought ten pizzas for one dollar..." Johnson whispered about the interesting stories from back then.
Behind them, under a large tree, a man dressed in a food delivery uniform watched them with a gloomy expression; after a long while, he slowly walked away.
