Chapter 130: Air Cannon and Card-Throwing Skill
Boom—a clap of thunder flashed through the clouds, and raindrops pelted down from the sky. The rainstorm had arrived.
Outside an unremarkable street, figures moved continuously under the shroud of the dim night until the entire street was blocked off.
"Is the blockade complete?!" General Ross stood against the heavy rain, directing the scene.
"All entrances and exits have been blocked, and most of the nearby residents have been driven away!" a reply came through the headset.
General Ross took a deep breath, looking at the street in the rainstorm. He hadn't expected this—truly hadn't expected it. He thought that after parting ways in Brazil, he might never see Bruce Banner again, yet here they were, having found his trail not long after.
"Sir! The assault team is ready!" Emil, wearing a special combat suit, came before General Ross.
"Good! Very good! This time, you must capture the target alive!" General Ross patted Emil's arm and said.
After using the super soldier serum, Emil's body had developed further; he was now a head taller than Ross, and Ross couldn't even reach his shoulder when he raised his hand.
"Yes!" Emil was full of confidence; this was his chance to wash away his shame.
Just then, a staff officer approached. "General! Someone is trying to force their way through the blockade!"
"What are you guys doing?! Do you have to ask me for instructions for something like this?" Ross questioned with dissatisfaction.
The staff officer leaned close to Ross and whispered in his ear, "General, the leader is your daughter, along with a vice-chancellor from Culver University."
Ross frowned. These people coming here must be here to sabotage him.
"Emil! Lead your team and set off now. Remember, this time you are the protagonist! Don't let me down," Ross decisively canceled the morale-boosting process and said to Emil.
"Yes! Sir!" Emil grinned and led his team into the street.
Just as Emil and his men left, Betty and the others arrived before Ross.
"Betty! Long time no see, how have you been lately?" Ross opened his arms, wanting to give his daughter a hug.
Betty dodged to the side, her eyes fixed tightly on her father. "Are you here to capture Banner?!"
"How could that be? I'm just here to participate in an exercise," General Ross said, not a single word of truth in his mouth.
Betty was getting anxious. The advisor stepped forward at this moment and extended his hand. "Mr. Ross, I am the Vice-Chancellor of Culver University. After talking with Ms. Betty, I believe your side is suspected of forcing our school's excellent graduate, Bruce Banner, to undergo human experiments, causing extremely severe consequences and endangering his personal safety. I demand an explanation!"
General Ross's face turned cold. Betty was easy to handle, but this old man was the truly troublesome one.
Academic achievements aside, the students he had taught over the past few decades were spread across politics, academia, and the military; his connections were ridiculously wide. Moreover, this person was a standard old stubborn man who recognized dead principles, protected his own, and didn't like playing political exchanges; otherwise, he wouldn't still be just a vice-chancellor.
"Mr. Vice-Chancellor, you have misunderstood. We have always advocated pacifism and respected everyone's freedom and rights..." General Ross began to spout standard rhetoric.
If Bruce Banner were in his hands, he wouldn't care what Johnson's advisor said; Ross could handle the pressure. But if he hadn't caught him and still got into trouble, it would be a huge loss.
"He's stalling for time," Mark whispered to Betty.
"I know. This situation is already the best it can be," Betty said, unconsciously looking at Peter.
Peter smiled. "Don't worry, you can completely trust Professor Johnson."
Betty sighed; that was all she could do.
After discovering the street was blocked, they immediately split into two groups. Betty and the advisor tried to create trouble for Ross, while Johnson went into the street to transfer Bruce Banner away.
Although Betty didn't know how Johnson could do it, she could only hope that everything went smoothly for him.
Inside the street, relying on the extraordinary intuition brought by spirituality, Johnson quickly found Bruce Banner hiding in the back kitchen of the pizza shop.
"Stop! Don't move!" Bruce Banner held a stick, pointing it at Johnson.
"Don't be nervous, don't recognize me? Thomas Johnson, the second-place student who was suppressed by you for a year." Johnson opened his hands, indicating he wasn't carrying any weapons. "The advisor and Betty are holding Ross outside. I'm here to take you away!"
Bruce Banner naturally knew who Johnson was, after all, he had been observing him secretly at school for so long.
However, what he couldn't be sure of was whether Johnson was telling the truth. What if he was the one who discovered and leaked his whereabouts?
Just as he was thinking, Bruce suddenly saw a soldier's shadow flash past the other end of the corridor behind Johnson. "Li..."
The word "little" didn't even make it out.
Several cards flew from Johnson's fingers, directly hitting the tranquilizer dart and deflecting it to the side.
The soldiers in the pizza shop corridor were stunned. What happened? What just knocked the tranquilizer dart away?
Professional training made the soldiers continue shooting while feeling puzzled.
Johnson shook his clothes, and cards fell from the air, forming a curtain that blocked the entire corridor and also blocked the subsequent tranquilizer darts.
"Pop~"
Johnson made a light sound, pointed his finger at the soldiers, and the soldiers fell to the ground in response.
Bruce Banner was completely dumbfounded. Had he arrived at some fantasy magic show scene?
"Just an air cannon, low power, don't worry, it won't kill him. Don't just stand there, we should go." Johnson wiped his hand in the air and recovered some of the cards. He only carried two decks with him, so he had to save them.
Although he could fold them with paper, the effect wasn't as strong as the prepared cards.
"Air cannon?! I didn't see a launcher, how did you do that?" Banner followed Johnson with a frying pan, asking. What just happened had truly piqued his interest.
Before Johnson could say anything, soft popping sounds rang out. The glass was shot through, and several bottles spraying gas were shot in.
"Go! Switch to the back door!" Johnson decisively changed his route.
It was just anesthetic gas; Johnson could hold his breath and push through, but Banner wouldn't be able to handle it.
Just as they arrived at the back door, Johnson had a bad premonition. He pushed Bruce to the side and threw his right hand forward with force. More than a dozen cards rotated and flew out simultaneously.
Tat-tat-tat! A huge black shadow appeared at the back door, and the long gun in his hand looked so miniature.
The bullets fired from the muzzle hit the cards and were cut directly in half, while the remaining cards flew and cut directly into the gun body, one after another, cutting off half of the gun barrel. ===== CHAPTER 131 =====
