Chapter 65: A Great Crisis—The Undercover Identity is About to be Exposed
Blade and Aniya were chatting very happily, and the atmosphere was extremely lively. However, they both seemed to have forgotten that the time for a certain person's routine visit to see his daughter was almost up.
Creak. Huanghun pulled the door open and walked in. He looked exhausted, as if he were burdened by many things in his heart.
When Huanghun looked up and saw Blade and Aniya chatting about something, laughing so hard they were almost pressed together, his entire body froze.
"Hello? Is something the matter?" Blade blinked and asked.
Huanghun's brain seemed unable to process this for a moment. He did not want to accept this reality and silently closed the door.
"Who was that... strange..." Blade was baffled.
Aniya silently dragged the quilt she had kicked to the side back over, covered herself with it, buried her head inside, and a muffled voice came out, "That's my dad."
"Huh?!"
Blade was stunned. Huanghun opened the door for the second time, pointing a finger at Blade, his face twisted. That expression could be used to scare children.
Blade instantly felt as if there were a ball of fire under his butt, burning him so much that he jumped straight up and stood to the side.
"Hello, Uncle. I'm Eric Brooks, a friend of Aniya's." Blade had a very strong psychological constitution; his face quickly returned to normal, and he tried to get on good terms with Huanghun.
"I know who you are." Huanghun had a rather gnashing-of-teeth feeling. This was normal; anyone who discovered their home had been "stolen" would probably be furious. But he couldn't be too angry, after all, his daughter had been saved by Blade, which made the situation very damn annoying.
After taking a deep breath, Huanghun chose to ignore Blade for the time being. He came to Aniya's side and patted her, "Stop shrinking away. You're so big now, yet you're still acting like a child."
Aniya grabbed the quilt with both hands and pulled it down slightly, revealing half her head, "Dad, where's Mom?"
Huanghun paused, "She's at home preparing things for you and didn't come over."
At this moment, Blade saw Aniya's entire complexion change.
Aniya threw the quilt aside, sat up, and stared fixedly at her father, "Dad! What happened to Mom?!"
Huanghun immediately felt that something was wrong. Aniya was well protected by him and Yor, and she didn't have strong ability to read people's expressions. Therefore, her current appearance meant that her ability had been activated!
Almost instantly, Huanghun adjusted his thoughts and cleared his inner voice to avoid being successfully read by Aniya. As parents, both he and Yor had this ability; otherwise, how could they have raised this little one for so many years?
"Dad! I'm not a six-year-old child anymore! You can't keep everything from me!" Aniya said to Huanghun with dissatisfaction after discovering she couldn't hear anything with her ability.
"Then I still hear someone talking and calling themselves Aniya, Aniya all the time." Huanghun was purely replying subconsciously now.
"That's because I think my childhood was very happy, it doesn't mean I haven't grown up!" Aniya explained.
Blade, standing to the side, remained silent. This should be the influence of the Joy Potion. Because Aniya believed her happiest time was her childhood, her language habits and personal personality just now leaned towards her childhood period.
Huanghun didn't reply, seemingly thinking about whether he should tell Aniya...
"Dad, I'm not that troublemaker who only knows how to say 'waku waku' anymore, and this matter must have something to do with me, right!" Aniya grabbed Huanghun's hand and continued.
Huanghun let out a long sigh and looked at Blade. After all, Blade was the only outsider here.
"Dad, he knows what he should know. I've already told him." Aniya explained to her father.
Huanghun didn't care too much. He was clear about his daughter's ability. As long as her ability wasn't suppressed, no one could deceive her. Since she had said so, it meant that Blade was indeed trustworthy.
"You went missing, and your mother and I were both very anxious. We searched the whole world, wanting to find you." Huanghun began to recount the situation during this period.
"After the first large-scale search yielded no results, your mother believed that you had been discovered by the people behind the previous research institute and had been kidnapped back. So, she planned to infiltrate a human experimentation facility we accidentally discovered during our search. I couldn't stop her."
Aniya froze. How much harm had her willfulness and disobedience brought to her family?
"After some effort, she successfully went undercover, but she still didn't find any sign of you. Your mother felt that it was because she had just entered and didn't have enough clearance, so she prepared to make contact with deeper levels."
"Originally, I was also going to go and provide support, but just as I was preparing to enter through a middleman, the hospital called me and said you had been found."
"Their story was consistent, claiming it was a human trafficking organization, but that was definitely impossible. Your mother and I had long since gone through all the human trafficking forces in this city."
Aniya didn't want to tell Huanghun about accidentally entering the vampire nest, so Huanghun looked at Blade at this point. Blade hesitated for a second and decided to stand on the same front as Huanghun for the time being. After all, they were all men, and they might need to huddle together for warmth in the future.
"That was a vampire gang. I went in a hurry, didn't kill many gang members, mainly just saved the people," Blade said.
Huanghun nodded, a sharp light flashing in his eyes. Once this period passed, those vampires would be in trouble again!
"After seeing you lying in the hospital bed, I discovered some agents monitoring or guarding the area, so I didn't notify your mother immediately," Huanghun turned his head and continued to say to Aniya.
"After returning home, I also discovered several surveillance points around the house, and listening devices had been placed in the home. When I avoided these people to go find the middleman, I discovered the middleman had been caught. He had been discovered by that organization."
Aniya was stunned and speechless, staring blankly at Huanghun.
Huanghun leaned back, his whole person looking a bit dejected, "Yor went in through that middleman. She might have been discovered. Diping always acted cautiously; I still haven't figured out why he was caught."
Aniya was panicked for a few seconds, then wiped her face hard, revealing a determined expression, "Dad, I'll listen to your arrangements. You tell me what to do. Mom must not be trapped inside!"
"I can help too," Blade said immediately, and then openly switched his form in front of Huanghun, exposing both his vampire and werewolf forms.
"This is an ability I accidentally acquired. It can be useful in finding people."
Huanghun looked at Blade deeply. He knew Blade was unusual, but he didn't expect him to be this unusual. Vampire plus werewolf plus human—the complexity of this identity was no less than that of their own family.
"Fine! Then get ready to be discharged," Huanghun stood up, the state of a top-tier agent fully revealed, "The first thing, and also the simplest thing, is to first shake off those surveillance agents wandering around us!" ===== CHAPTER 66 =====
