Chapter 87: This Matter Is Going to Get Bigger and Bigger

~7 min read 1,218 words

After figuring it out, Johnson didn't hesitate to start setting up a ritual in the office. This divination definitely had to be assisted by ritual magic; after all, the object of the divination might be a very fierce blue dragon.

McGonagall and Lupin each stood in a corner; now they could only hope that Johnson's divination would succeed.

"Dumbledore's specific location..."

Johnson channeled the power within his body, silently reciting in his heart. The magic circle beneath him lit up, and the powdered materials placed in various positions continuously reorganized before Johnson.

Soon, under the combination of the powder, a scene gradually took shape. Just as Johnson was about to see clearly what was in the scene, a blue dragon tail whipped out from the edge of the scene.

*Snap*, the scene collapsed, turned back into powder, and fell to the ground.

"It should be some kind of anti-divination effect. I can't do anything about Headmaster Dumbledore's side," Johnson said to McGonagall.

*Sigh*... McGonagall sighed and turned to walk out of the office. Dumbledore couldn't return for the time being, so she had to find a way to reduce the influence of the matter.

"By the way, tell Hagrid to take Buckbeak and hide first. I will issue an attendance certificate," Professor McGonagall said as she reached the door.

After Professor McGonagall left, Johnson shook his head and began to divine Hagrid's location. The difficulty of this divination was much lower.

Johnson had had much more contact with Hagrid than with Dumbledore, and Hagrid didn't have that kind of resistance to divination.

"He's over by the Whomping Willow," Johnson retracted his pocket watch and said to Lupin.

Near the Whomping Willow, Hagrid sat on the ground, with his back to the Whomping Willow.

*Swish, swish, swish*, the branches danced in the air, whipping against Hagrid's back. Hagrid's face showed an expression of pain and pleasure, just like getting a massage.

Buckbeak didn't know what to say to Hagrid; he only had one thought in his heart: the Giant's skin is truly thick!

"I'm going to go around first. Call me if you need anything," Buckbeak said, raising his wings and flying into the sky.

Just after Buckbeak left, Hagrid saw Lupin and Johnson hurrying over from another direction.

"Hagrid, we finally found you. Where's Buckbeak? Hurry and take him away from Hogwarts first. Professor McGonagall has issued an attendance certificate for you," Lupin said, panting, while looking for Buckbeak's trail.

"Ah? Why?" Hagrid looked confused; he didn't understand what Lupin was talking about at all.

Johnson had no choice but to tell Hagrid the matter bit by bit, incidentally analyzing some of the connections and problems involved for him.

Listening to Fudge's petty behavior, Hagrid's face was full of anger. Under the influence of the emotion of anger, his body continuously grew larger, growing from three meters to over four meters in the blink of an eye.

*Boom! *

Hagrid punched a big hole in the ground. "These petty people! They wronged me once, and now they want to do it a second time! Distorting right and wrong, not distinguishing between black and white—simply abominable!"

"Alright, let's stop talking about this for now, that..." Lupin was still a bit surprised by the change in Hagrid's body, but now wasn't the time for that. "You hurry and take Buckbeak to hide first."

"Hmph!" Hagrid let out a muffled angry sound, his body returned to its original state, but he had no intention of moving.

He stood up, walked around the edge of the Whomping Willow a few times, then shook his head. "I can't go."

"Why?" Lupin didn't understand.

A light of wisdom flashed in Hagrid's eyes. "You said it yourself, Fudge wants to establish authority. Regardless of whether I'm here or not, he won't give up this idea. If I leave, you guys will be the ones in trouble."

Hagrid stroked his beard; his thinking had never been as clear as it was now. "When the time comes, Fudge will definitely make things difficult for you and Professor McGonagall, and it will also involve the friends who delivered letters for you. I can't do such a thing!"

"Don't be stupid. Do you want to watch Buckbeak die here?" Lupin continued.

"Of course not." Hagrid sat back down. "Will you stop Buckbeak from leaving? You won't, so just let him go by himself. I'll stay. I'd like to see what Fudge can do when the time comes? Is he planning to make up a charge and throw me into Azkaban?"

"This... to be honest, it's not impossible." Lupin now couldn't judge at all to what extent Fudge would go. These people would do anything for the position under their butts.

"It doesn't matter. If he really does that, I'll make my choice," Hagrid continued.

"Whatever choice you make, wait until Headmaster Dumbledore returns!" Lupin found that even if Hagrid had become smarter, how had he become more stubborn than before? He wouldn't listen to advice.

"It doesn't matter. At worst, I'll just be locked up for a few days. And if I leave like this, Headmaster Dumbledore might return and find one of you locked up. And Lupin, don't forget, Fudge is very likely to know your identity. If I leave, the most likely thing he'll do is take a knife to you, and then everyone will be implicated all the same," Hagrid still wasn't willing to leave.

"Don't worry, if they take a knife to me, I can still go hide at Frank's place," Lupin winked at Johnson.

Johnson nodded repeatedly. Although the Cabin couldn't condense new keys now, if things really developed to that point, Johnson guaranteed that Frank would definitely lend Lupin a helping hand.

"Alright, no need to say more. I'll make up an excuse to let Buckbeak leave first. As for me, I'll stay for now. I want to see to what extent these wizards can go against the tide," Hagrid stood up and said very seriously.

Just then, a cry came from the sky. Buckbeak circled over the three of them twice, then picked up speed in one direction and disappeared into the horizon.

"Look, Buckbeak understood our words. Why don't you understand?" Lupin really didn't know what else to say.

Hagrid looked up in the direction Buckbeak had left, his eyes filled with worry, even more worried than when he had learned about Fudge's affairs.

If Buckbeak were really just leaving, that would be fine, but I feel like he doesn't look like he's leaving, but rather going to fetch reinforcements...

Hagrid sighed long and hard. Things had already developed to this point; Fudge really did no good deeds and all bad deeds.

"Hagrid! When Fudge brings people over, we'll step forward to stall him for a bit. You stay in the tower. If there's anything wrong, go hide in the secret room first!" Lupin patted Hagrid's arm and said very seriously. "You must promise me this!"

"I'll try my best." Hagrid scratched his hair.

Johnson stood silently on the side. These matters were internal affairs of their wizarding world, so it wasn't appropriate for him to intervene directly. However, he definitely intended to return to the Cabin to make a phone call to Frank and leave a message. ===== CHAPTER 88 =====
