Chapter 323: The game of [Gods], Cheng Dashi

The game of 【Gods】, Cheng Dashi's goal!

Cheng Shi suddenly became uneasy.

"You... knew?"

"Heh, why do you think... I... took action... to save you?"

"Ah? Isn't it because I am the hardest-working employee with the best performance under your command?"

"..."

The enormous skull fell silent. Ghostly green flames rose in His eye sockets; that gaze seemed to see the shameless 【Fraud】.

Although He didn't speak, Cheng Shi felt he heard the sound of teeth grinding.

Oh no, the boss doesn't recognize the top salesperson's performance?

He hurriedly forced a smile and looked up at the bone throne. The enormous skull remained silent for a long time before speaking again, gloomily:

"【Fate】.

It is your... other... patron, 【Fate】.

He... saw... your crisis, and so made a... deal with me.

To let me... save you."

【Fate】!

It's 【Fate】 again!

Praise the damn 【Fate】!

Today, I am a die-hard fan of 【Fate】; anyone who dares to blaspheme my Lord is going against me!

I, the daily warrior Cheng Shi, am determined to defend the glory of 【Fate】 with my weapon... forget it, I can't die yet, I am determined to defend the glory of 【Fate】 with the weapon in my hand!

But loyalty aside, Cheng Shi was still a bit confused. When did his patron see his crisis?

He asked this question, and 【Death】 did not hide it.

"When I... took away... the wisp of... new 【Filth】 authority... that sprouted on you."

The sprouting new 【Filth】 authority?

What was that?

Hmm?

The sprouting divinity born from fear?

So it really was 【Death】 who took that wisp of sprouting divinity!

But that's fine; as long as it wasn't given to Lele'er, it's acceptable for it to fall into 【Death】's hands.

Cheng Shi still tentatively asked: "That divinity..."

"Do not... indulge in wishful thinking."

"..."

Oh no, could the deal between 【Fate】 and 【Death】 be that they traded this divinity for his life...

Thinking about it, it's not a loss. After all, if you're dead, what use is divinity?

But there is one strange thing. If his patron saw his crisis back then, does that mean all of this was already written in His script?

Since He knew everything, did He know Cheng Dashi had returned?

Even if He didn't know before, the moment he himself knew, He should have known too. After all, as a character in 【Fate】's script, a character written by His own hand, once there was any change, He, as the screenwriter, should have known immediately.

So Cheng Dashi never hid anything from 【Fate】 at all...

In that case, did his layout change fate or not?

This question was too profound, so profound that even Cheng Shi, who was now just a skull, wrinkled his bone skin from excessive confusion.

【Death】 glanced at him and said coldly:

"Do not... attempt... to approach... 【Filth】."

Ah?

Cheng Shi didn't expect his silence to lead to a misunderstanding by that Great One, so he hurriedly changed the subject:

"I wasn't thinking about it, I wasn't. Great One, I was just wondering, were 【Prosperity】's other two children betraying Her because they feared Her assimilation?"

The enormous skull was clearly still very interested in the topic of 【Prosperity】. He nodded and began to recount 【Prosperity】's sordid history.

"You guessed... correctly.

Her second son, Dize'er, feared... Her assimilation and chose to... betray... his own mother, throwing himself into... 【Decay】.

However, he embraced... 【Decay】 only to... take revenge on... his own mother.

He was not in harmony with 【Decay】's... will.

【Decay】 discovered... this point, but... still took him in.

But he... did not believe that... his status as a god... could resist... 【Prosperity】.

So, he attempted... to kill 【Decay】 and usurp the divine throne.

And then, he was... dismantled by 【Decay】 and turned into... a mindless... 【Desolate Walker】."

Holy crap?

So Dize'er's story is this explosive?

Killing the rival to usurp the throne just to take revenge on his mother?

The idea was ahead of its time, but have you ever thought that your act of god-slaying makes you look more like a mole sent by your mother...

But I didn't expect 【Decay】 to be kind-hearted enough to take him in.

Cheng Shi recalled the moment he saw 【Decay】 in the Grave of Septicemia and felt increasingly strange.

He... seems a bit different from the stereotype players have. He said He was a pitiful person, so He sympathized with the equally pitiful Dize'er?

No way, the patron of those players who self-harm every day is actually a god who likes to sympathize with others?

Shouldn't you sympathize with your believers?

Squeezing yourself to give alms to others, right.

Fine, fine, no wonder you can be rivals with 【Prosperity】; one preys, one suffers, it's a perfect match.

【Death】's sharing continued; He had an unusual desire to share today:

"After losing... Dize'er, 【Prosperity】 reflected on Herself.

And so, Her youngest daughter, Lele'er, was born... without any sense of fear."

"..."

So that's how She reflects, cutting off the possibility of self-reflection from the source, right...

"But Lele'er, was a fool. She... felt that... Her people... would all feel fear.

And so, She developed... doubts about Herself, and then, behind Her... mother's back, asked me... what fear was.

I miscalculated. The thing I should not have done... was to let Jialouluo guide Her... to find fear.

Jialouluo, went with Her... to the 【Sea of Desire】. She felt... the countless calls of fear... within the 【Sea of Desire】.

And so, ignoring... Jialouluo's dissuasion, She jumped... right in.

Jialouluo, wanted to save Her, but it was already... useless, because... She had sunk... into it, intoxicated... by the beauty of fear, unable to extricate Herself.

Completely... turned into... a fear mother tree that absorbs... the fear of the universe.

And my messenger, feeling guilty, after learning... that everything... was beyond saving, chose to replace... that bitch, and assimilate with 【Prosperity】.

【Mother of Prosperity】, was happy to seize... my authority, so... She... did not refuse, and so... She... devoured... Jialouluo!

Jialouluo died, died in... 【Prosperity】's divine shade."

"..."

Cheng Shi never imagined that the truth of history would be so absurd.

A simple-minded boy fell in love with a rebellious girl, even willing to pay the debt with his own life for the fallen girl...

But brother, let's be honest, Lele'er might really be a fool, but to go and assimilate with 【Prosperity】 for a self-depraved fool, our Jialouluo...

Ahem, hmm, it's all the fault of that bitch Lele'er!

Just as Cheng Shi was thinking about this gossip, 【Death】's next sentence shocked him into standing still.

"Now, you have again... opened up... a new... path of assimilation... for 【Mother of Prosperity】.

And so, She wants... to have us all... return to prosperity, and coexist with Her.

【Fate】, only believes in Himself, so He... will not agree.

【Truth】, from beginning to end, has been... pushing for... the fusion of faith!"

"Ah?

【Truth】 is the one pushing for the fusion of faith?

Great One, aren't all gods pushing for the fusion of faith?"

The enormous skull paused and nodded:

"Yes, but the one who convinced... us... was Him."

"Then..." Cheng Shi thought for a moment and decided to summon the courage to ask: "Why fuse faith?"

"You... do not need... to know this."

"..." Fine, his face wasn't big enough. Cheng Shi nodded sheepishly, "Would you... continue?"

"【Truth】, does not want... to be assimilated by 【Prosperity】, but wants to plunder... 【Prosperity】's authority of assimilation.

But He has always... lacked... an opportunity, until today, 【Prosperity】... openly broke... the 【Convention】 and assimilated 【Decay】's faith.

【Truth】, finally found... the timing... to make a move.

He wants... to swallow... 【Prosperity】's authority, and the reason... is to uphold the 【Convention】 and purge... 【Prosperity】's ambition!

【Iron Law of Order】, felt that... 【Truth】's move... also... violated the 【Convention】, so He wanted... to stop Him.

But 【Chaos】, blocked the 【Iron Law of Order】... for 【Truth】.

【Annihilation】, wanted to... fish in troubled waters, annihilate... 【Prosperity】's authority, to please Himself, but was blocked... outside the door... by 【Stupidity】."

Hearing this, Cheng Shi was extremely confused.

To be reasonable, he always felt his patron 【Fate】 didn't want to be with 【Truth】, but in this so-called divine war, they happened to stand on the same front.

Even more bizarrely, 【Stupidity】 is clearly 【Truth】's rival, yet He is actually helping 【Truth】 now, even blocking 【Annihilation】 for Him.

What's going on?

Is 【Prosperity】 that annoying?

He looked at the skull on the bone throne in confusion. The skull felt Cheng Shi's confusion, paused, and said:

"【Stupidity】... no one... can understand... Him."

"..." Cheng Shi didn't dare to think about why 【Death】 couldn't understand 【Stupidity】. He curiously asked again: "Then what about my other patron?

Such a big... thing, didn't He participate?"

The enormous skull sneered and said with disdain:

"Your... annoying... patron.

In order not to let... the situation... expand, 【Existence】 perhaps... has already... trapped... Him."

"..."

This was the first time Cheng Shi heard 【Death】 say so much, and it was also the first time he completely and clearly understood a game of 【Gods】.

And the origin of all this came from that so-called fusion of faith, and the god pushing for the fusion of faith was the protector behind the Tower of Reason and Quality that he saw every day in the trial—【Truth】!

So, this is Cheng Dashi's goal?

He pushed him to lead 【Prosperity】 down, and then let 【Truth】, who coveted 【Prosperity】's authority, kill 【Prosperity】, in order to break that so-called 【Convention】?

Cheng Shi felt he had sorted out the logic. While digesting this massive amount of information, he looked up at the flickering green screen, watching the invisible fluctuations explode above the canopy, and finally figured out one thing: Cheng Dashi's target had always been 【Prosperity】!

Even if 【Decay】 had its faith assimilated by 【Prosperity】 and became extremely weak, no one among Them could tolerate 【Prosperity】 assimilating Them through faith grafting!

Sure enough, when heroes compete for the deer, the weak may not die first, but the strong will surely be the target of everyone!

So the gods' spears were all pointed at 【Prosperity】! ===== CHAPTER 324 =====
