Chapter 284: Heavenly Yao Sacred Land

~7 min read 1,253 words

The Heavenly Yao Sacred Land is not within the Great Qian borders, but on an immortal mountain overseas.

Besides the glaciers which may bury many ancient secrets, there are two other vast regions never collectively explored or developed by the world: deserts and oceans.

Among them, the ocean is far more vast.

The ancestors of the Heavenly Yao Sacred Land occupied the ocean, thereby occupying a vast future, and also mastered the interactions of many overseas immortal sects; thus for thousands of years, talents have emerged from the Heavenly Yao Sacred Land, securely ranking as the number one immortal sect in the human world.

At least, the number one immortal sect in the minds of those within the seas.

The name of the Sacred Land was not blown up by the Great Qian; it is truly a sacred land in the hearts of countless cultivators. If one could enter even as an outer sect disciple, countless people would be willing to give everything to exchange for it.

People truly believe the Sacred Land has a path to immortality; all think the predecessors of the Sacred Land likely achieved many ascensions, and the Heavenly Yao Sacred Land holds the true method of becoming an immortal.

As for whether ascension truly exists, to be honest, even Ye Tinglan, the sect master, is not entirely clear. She has actually only lived for a few decades; based on what she has seen with her own eyes, she has never witnessed an ascension.

Whether the testimonies recorded in scriptures and boasted by elders are true or false is hard to say, after all, no one has witnessed it with their own eyes... but Ye Tinglan also firmly believes it exists, at most having some vague doubts about where one goes after ascension.

No matter how much she doubts, her goal in this life is still ascension; that is the common pursuit of all cultivators in the end.

After being with Lu Xingzhou, Ye Tinglan felt many blockages in her heart dissolve; she viewed many things more lightly, more detached. The bottleneck of breakthrough indeed showed signs of loosening; Ye Tinglan did not know if this counted as a prelude to ascension. Maybe it did, but perhaps the time had not yet come.

Returning outside the Sacred Land, looking at the horizon dyed by rosy clouds, the immortal mountain was shrouded in blue-purple mist, its outline like faint ink wash, appearing and disappearing. The main peak was cut in half by flowing clouds; snow on the summit reflected the morning sun, like a divine sword slanting into the sea of clouds. Two or three red-crowned cranes swept over the mountain ridge; occasionally a crane's cry would rise, intertwining with the sound of flutes and reed pipes drifting from the mountains, harmonizing with the surrounding waves, creating a vast and distant atmosphere.

This is the immortal sentiment never seen in the Great Qian; even those sects claiming to retreat far into the mountains are still vulgar compared to the Heavenly Yao Sacred Land.

Ye Tinglan's feeling of ascending to immortality grew even stronger; that sense of detachment, that heart of transforming into an immortal, could even make one almost forget a man was still beside them.

Similarly, Lu Xingzhou was also gazing at this scene in a trance; without even entering any secret realm, his third-grade bottleneck already showed a faint posture of loosening.

Yuan Muyu grew up in a place like this... yet she still developed a Yama-like personality; that's quite not easy, ha.

As for this Mr.'s personality, it can be understood; the environment had a huge influence, covering up some small vicious natures. If not for the fact that many masks were now taken off, who would know this Mr. was like this...

Seeing her return, her expression was much more solemn and dignified; she even put on her veil. The dharma robe... wait, why isn't she wearing the dharma robe yet?

"I brought you back as a Mr. of the Alchemy Academy," Ye Tinglan said concisely, lowering the small boat.

Although both sides already knew full well who she was, even A'nuo standing nearby understood it now. But Ye Tinglan still did not want to be publicly with a man in her identity as the Sacred Land Master; she must deceive herself by putting on a disguise to deal with the sect's face. This might be the reason why Ye Tinglan ultimately lacked the courage to fight Shen Tang to the end.

Including this journey to the East Sea, they had been traveling for many days; sleeping and resting together like a married couple, but the previous cloying burning scent had decreased greatly.

That was not only because of the big lantern A'nuo.

To put it nicely, it was more like an old married couple; in reality, Lu Xingzhou knew full well she was hindered by her heart due to approaching home; after all, it was no longer the foreign feeling of being far away in Frostland where no one knew her, so the shackles returned.

It was completely understandable; Lu Xingzhou did not force the issue. Being able to act like an old married couple rather than pretending to be distant was already very good.

Ye Tinglan did not lead him and A'nuo to walk in through the gate to show off; instead, she went straight through the formation and headed directly for the internal Scripture Pavilion.

The grandeur and beauty of other places inside were unknown for now, but the mountain where the Scripture Pavilion was located remained elegant and refined.

A waterfall at the mid-mountain fell like a silver ribbon; a rainbow bridge formed by water vapor appeared and disappeared. Jade-green bamboo forests spread across the whole mountain; the sea breeze blew, lifting a corner of the distant flying eaves. Glazed carved dragons coiled on the flying eaves; with the morning light turning, the dragon eyes seemed to come alive.

That was the Scripture Tower.

A'nuo sighed softly: "Master, this place is so beautiful."

Ye Tinglan said: "Do you want to enter the Heavenly Yao Sacred Land? I'll give you a direct disciple position."

A'nuo shook her head: "I have a master."

Ye Tinglan ground her teeth: "Even your master will be taken in; where would you run?"

Lu Xingzhou laughed speechlessly.

Ye Tinglan glanced at him; she did not force him to join, after all, she still harbored thoughts of being intimate with the little man; she couldn't really solidify the master-disciple relationship.

Seeing they had arrived at the Scripture Pavilion, Ye Tinglan stopped this topic and changed to introducing: "There are two buildings here. The one on the left contains records of various scriptures, vast as an ocean; you were right before, even I cannot possibly see them all. If you search with a specific purpose, you might indeed gain something else. I will have the manager and disciples of the Scripture Pavilion cooperate with you. The one on the right contains cultivation scriptures; inside there are prohibitions set up. Whatever cultivation level you reach, as long as you can go up, you can choose the scriptures yourself."

Lu Xingzhou smiled: "I can choose too?"

"Yes." Ye Tinglan looked left and right, lowering her voice: "For other scripture records, I can even have the manager cooperate with you; that is far better than the treatment of disciples. How could it be that what ordinary disciples can choose, you cannot?"

"Aren't you afraid people will talk?" Lu Xingzhou quietly held her hand.
