Chapter 475: Fatty's Reckless Gamble
Fatty's plan was this: we had to lure that enormous Miluotuo to attack this bronze door in order to open it.
Otherwise, with our strength, even if we started doing push-ups right now and ate more stone silkworms for protein, it would take several years to succeed.
But I had already thrown out all the tools I had on me. Luckily, I knew where I had thrown them.
I went alone to where I had thrown Xiao Hua's phone, frantically digging through the sand. As I passed, all the stone silkworms fled from the sand. That giant Miluotuo was in the distance, hearing my commotion, it started moving back.
I suddenly felt sorry for it too—in the darkness, it could only rely on hearing to hunt its prey. I dug wildly into the sand, and soon dug out Xiao Hua's phone.
The phone was still playing a video. As soon as it came out of the sand, the sound became clear. I turned the volume to max, and the monster immediately sped up, charging straight toward me.
I immediately tossed the phone to Fatty. Fatty caught it in midair, and with agility totally mismatched to his physique, stuck a piece of gum on the phone and pressed it firmly against the bronze door.
Almost at the same moment, the monster pounced onto the stone platform like a flying beast. Fatty leaped down, plunging into the quicksand, rolling into the sand like a fat pig in a mud pit.
I saw it clearly: the monster hung above the stone platform, paused only slightly, then slammed into the bronze door.
With one hit, the bronze door flew off like a cannonball, revealing a pitch-black entrance. Xiao Hua's phone was instantly smashed to pieces.
The force was astonishing. If it had been a person, that hit would have squeezed their lungs out through their nostrils.
After the collision, something unexpected happened—the bronze door, after being knocked away, hung in the air above the doorway for a while.
Then it fell heavily, making an extremely loud sound. The giant Miluotuo was instantly enraged by this noise, desperately trying to squeeze through the doorway.
Unfortunately, the door was too narrow. It slammed into it so hard that the entire ceiling began to shake, but it still couldn't get in.
The most troublesome part was that every time it slammed, the bronze door on the floor slab made a sound, which further enraged it.
At this point, I also dug out my digital watch, but it was completely broken.
I crawled over beside Fatty. We watched quietly, waiting for this thing to calm down.
However, this thing seemed tireless, slamming into the doorway at almost a fixed frequency. We didn't know how long we waited, but it just wouldn't leave.
"This is the most dim-witted thing I've ever seen," Fatty said. "Is this thing a relative of yours?"
I replied, "You're the dim-witted one, you green-faced bastard. Think of something—we don't have much time."
"This thing is completely obsessed with that hole right now. To get it out of here, we need to give it a bigger stimulus." Fatty pulled out his weapon and pried open the stock.
We moved to the edge of the stone platform, tied the trigger with our shoelaces, and pressed the gun firmly into the sand. Fatty opened his backpack, dumped out all the less useful stuff, and used it to weigh down the gun. Then he gave me a look.
I knew what he was going to do, so I nodded and got ready. Fatty pulled the shoelace, and the gun immediately opened fire, spraying a full magazine into the Miluotuo.
Green blood splattered everywhere. The Miluotuo almost fell from the ceiling, crashing heavily onto the stone platform.
Fatty and I pressed ourselves close to the platform, watching the gun spew flames. The backpack kept bouncing between the platform and the monster.
The monster finally erupted in rage. I saw a huge dark shape leap down from the platform entirely, and one slap sent the entire patch of sand where the gun lay flying into the air.
The blazing gun fired its last few rounds midair, sweeping right over Fatty's head, sending stone chips flying. Luckily, Fatty reflexively ducked, or his skull would have been blown off.
The weapon smashed into a pillar nearby, breaking into several pieces and finally going silent.
Fatty was terrified by that final burst. I tossed a handful of sand in his face to snap him out of it, then we both quickly climbed onto the stone platform. As soon as we were up, we heard a huge roar from the cave ceiling behind us.
Looking back, the giant monster had already jumped back onto the ceiling and was slamming into it like crazy, charging toward the platform.
Countless bone fragments fell, and the bronze door rang out again. I thought, crap, the monster was now completely enraged and ramming the doorway.
I couldn't care less—I sprinted out, only to be blocked immediately by the monster.
I yelled "Fatty!" and tried to look, but the monster's hand shot through the doorway and slapped me away.
I rolled and got up, only to see Fatty clinging firmly to the monster's arm, stabbing it with a metal spike, eyes squeezed shut. I shouted at him, "Let go!" Fatty finally opened his eyes. By then, he didn't need to let go—he was flung off, tumbling away.
I gasped for breath, watching the hand keep reaching in and slapping the ground. We backed farther and farther away, until we were outside its attack radius. Then we both collapsed on the floor.
Fatty heard the bronze door vibrating again and immediately grabbed it, sat down, and used himself as a cushion. My mind went blank. I don't know how long we sat there until the hand finally withdrew.
We felt the floor vibrations gradually fade, knowing it had moved away. Fatty carefully set down the bronze door, and only then did we have time to look at where we were.
By the light, we saw that this was still a cave inside the mountain. But as we turned around, we froze.
I saw a huge ancient building towering behind us. In the darkness, it looked incredibly old, its colorless gray surface like a fossil, telling countless unspeakable secrets.
"Zhang Family Ancient Building..." I whispered those words from deep in my throat.
