Chapter 591: My Aunt Gives Me Ten Million
Harboring doubts about Qian Youyu, I went straight to my aunt's house after work.
Seeing me arrive, my aunt busied herself serving me tea and water.
Ever since I returned from training at the Provincial Party School, I had rarely visited my aunt's house. Even though we were separated by only one building, and I could clearly see her busy figure on her balcony from my own, I simply hadn't gone over.
My uncle was still not home. His business was growing larger by the day; it was said his road and bridge company had very close dealings with a state-owned enterprise, and many of their projects were taken on from them.
After giving birth, my aunt rarely went to the company, nor did she ask about its affairs, leaving my uncle to toss and turn in the outside world.
After finishing a cup of tea, I stood up to leave. My aunt asked with a smile, "Did you just come here for a cup of tea?"
I gave a bitter smile and said, "No, I mainly came to see you."
A gentle smile spread across my aunt's face as she looked herself over and asked, "Do I look good?"
"You look good!" I praised her sincerely, though my mind was elsewhere.
"If I look good, then look more. Why are you in such a rush to leave?" My aunt put away her smile and ordered me, "Eat at home. What do you want to eat?"
I looked around the room and asked, "Aunt, where is your child?"
"At kindergarten."
"Sending them to kindergarten at such a young age?" I said with dissatisfaction. "You're free now, why don't you spend more time with the child?"
My aunt looked at me in surprise, then suddenly burst into laughter. She reached out and touched my face, saying, "Oh my, you've grown up! You've learned how to lecture people!"
I laughed in shame and said, "That's not what I meant."
Yet in my heart, I hoped her hand wouldn't leave; her touch was like a gentle spring breeze, stirring a tingling sensation throughout my body.
My aunt seemed to have sensed this thought. She pulled her hand away, her face flushing slightly, and turned to walk toward the kitchen.
I followed behind her, leaning against the kitchen doorframe, and asked, "Aunt, is the money from the shares withdrawn from the road and bridge company all in my mother-in-law's hands?"
My aunt hadn't expected me to ask this question so suddenly. She was stunned for a moment and said, "I'm not sure either. You'll have to ask your uncle."
I didn't believe my aunt's words. In their household, my uncle's status wasn't that high. She couldn't possibly be unaware of such a major matter as me withdrawing my shares. If my uncle dared to pull this off behind her back, he would have to be looking for death.
My aunt realized I didn't believe her. She gave a fake smile and said, "Xiao Feng, just do your job as an official well. Stay away from money matters."
I asked, "Why?"
"For an official, once you get involved with money, your integrity becomes tainted. Money is the dirtiest thing in the world; if you mix with the dirtiest thing under heaven, who can remain untainted?" My aunt sighed and said, "Our company has been open for many years, and we've done quite a few projects. We've made a lot of money and met all kinds of people. I have never seen an official who thinks about dealing with money every day who is a clean official."
I defended myself, "I haven't been dealing with money. I didn't know about the initial investment, and I didn't know about the withdrawal. I just want to ask who is holding this money."
"Whoever has it, it's better than you having it!" My aunt flatly refused me, saying, "Don't ask again. Even if you ask, I won't tell you."
Seeing that my plan was about to fall through, I had no choice but to use my trump card. I walked over, wrapped my arms around her waist, and stared into her eyes, saying, "Are you going to tell me or not? If you don't, I'll make you regret it."
My aunt struggled to escape my embrace. Her slender, soft body was like a fish struggling on a beach; no matter how she struggled, it was all in vain.
"I won't tell you!" She panted heavily, prying at my hands, and said, "You're hurting me."
I was startled and loosened my grip slightly.
As soon as I loosened my grip, my aunt slipped out of my hands like a fish.
By the time I tried to grab her again, she had already flown into her bedroom like a butterfly.
I reached out to push the door, but my aunt had locked it from the inside. I called out a few times, but there was no answer from within. Sighing helplessly, I turned to leave when I heard my aunt's voice from behind: "Are you leaving?"
I turned my head and saw my aunt leaning against the doorframe, her hands behind her back, smiling faintly.
"You were ignoring me, so why shouldn't I leave? Do you expect me to keep making a fool of myself?" I said with annoyance.
"Who ignored you?" My aunt walked over, snuggled up against me, and whispered, "In this world, no one can make me ignore you, Young Master!"
My heart skipped a beat, and I asked, "What did you call me?"
"Young Master." My aunt looked up, her expressive eyes darting around as she looked at me.
"Then what are you?"
"I am the Young Master's aunt, and also the Young Master's maid!" My aunt giggled, reached out a hand under my nose, and said, "Take it."
What she handed me was a bank card. Back when we were all still using passbooks, my aunt's bank card held a unique status and position.
"What is this for?" I asked suspiciously.
"Don't you need money?"
"Who said I needed money?" I was increasingly amazed by my aunt's abilities; she seemed to be able to see through my thoughts, and every word she spoke hit the mark in my heart.
I did indeed need money. I had already promised Qian Youyu. But I had told him clearly that I didn't want shares, nor did I want to be a shareholder. I was merely acting out of the friendship of many years as old friends; when I could help, I would certainly help him.
"You little brat!" My aunt tapped my forehead with her finger and said, "Do you think I don't know what you're thinking?"
I asked with a wicked grin, "What do you know?"
My aunt blurted out, "When you were little, as soon as you lifted your butt, I knew you were going to..."
She suddenly felt embarrassed, and the words were swallowed back down her throat.
I, however, didn't want to miss this chance to tease her. I asked, "Going to what? What did you see, Aunt?"
My aunt's face turned red. She shoved the card into my hand and walked away without a word.
I followed her and said, "You haven't told me what you saw yet. If you don't tell me, I don't want this."
I made a gesture as if to throw the bank card back at her.
My aunt had no choice but to lower her eyes and say, "What could I have seen? You were so small back then, there was nothing to see."
Her face was as red as the peach blossoms in March, incredibly shy.
I felt happy inside. I pulled my aunt to sit on the sofa and asked her, "Aunt, how did you know I needed money?"
"Isn't it written on your face?" My aunt smiled and said, "You never ask about money matters. Suddenly asking about money—if it's not because you need money, then what is it?"
I was instantly moved to tears. Those who know me best, it is my aunt!
I pinched the bank card, flipped it over a few times, sighed, and handed it back to my aunt, saying, "Aunt, this amount of money won't be enough to help me."
My aunt's face was full of surprise. She asked in wonder, "How much do you need?"
I didn't speak.
"Do you know how much is in here?"
I still didn't speak, thinking to myself that no matter what, there couldn't possibly be five million in this card.
"There is this much in here." My aunt held up one finger.
"Ten thousand?"
My aunt shook her head.
"One hundred thousand?"
"One million?"
My aunt still shook her head. I hesitated and said, "It couldn't be ten million, could it?"
My aunt nodded with a smile and said softly, "This money was what we prepared to buy a piece of land in the countryside to build a small villa. Now that you have an urgent need, take it and use it first. We don't have a use for it right now anyway."
My aunt's words completely stunned me. I felt as if I were holding a red-hot iron in my hand, or perhaps a snake spitting its tongue, and I was so frightened that I dropped the card on the floor.
My aunt bent down to pick it up and carefully placed it in my hand, saying, "Xiao Feng, I know you must have an urgent need for this money. I also believe you won't do anything reckless. As long as you use the money for the right path, even if it doesn't come back, I won't blame you!"
"I'm borrowing this from you," I muttered.
"Whatever!" My aunt said with a smile. "If you want to call it borrowing, then borrow it."
"It really is borrowing." I thought of Qian Youyu's appearance, and my heart skipped a beat. That bastard Qian Youyu, his crooked idea let me discover my aunt's hidden wealth. If she can prepare ten million to build a villa, how much money does the family actually have? It's truly impossible to guess.
How much money my aunt's road and bridge company has actually made is now a mystery to me!
Why did my mother-in-law, Chen Yazhi, withdraw her shares and leave at this time, and for what reason?
My heart felt blocked! This aunt who had been with me since I was a child was like a guardian angel; whenever I was isolated and helpless, she would appear silently. She would give me strength, give me tenderness, and let me bravely face everything.
And every time I emerged from hardship, she would have long since walked far away, not even leaving a shadow behind for me.
I said with a choked voice, "Aunt, thank you!"
She smiled gently, leaned her fair face toward me, and said, "Hmm, I'll reward you with a kiss."
There was no longer any lust in my heart, only moving and gratitude.
Holding my aunt's head, I kissed her beautiful face lightly, stood up, and said, "Aunt, I'm leaving."
She saw me to the door and watched me enter the elevator to go downstairs.
As soon as I reached the bottom floor, I took out my phone and called Qian Youyu, saying, "Old Qian, the problem is solved."
Qian Youyu asked excitedly where I was. I didn't tell him, just told him to prepare the documents and register his new company at the Administration for Industry and Commerce tomorrow.
After hanging up the phone, the three words "Administration for Industry and Commerce" suddenly popped into my mind, and my heart felt like it had been pinched by something.
Wasn't Wu Qian's husband at the Administration for Industry and Commerce?
At the thought of Wu Qian, my heart began to feel uneasy. I thought for a long time about how many years it had been since I last saw her, but after thinking for a long time, I couldn't figure it out.
I thought about calling her, but when I took out my phone, I couldn't help but laugh at myself.
The analog mobile phones we used in the past had long been replaced by digital ones. Is it a tragedy of society or a tragedy of technology that a person disappears from one's life along with a string of numbers?
I definitely wouldn't go to the Administration for Industry and Commerce to register tomorrow. But if Qian Youyu went, it wouldn't be a simple matter without an acquaintance.
What does that have to do with me! After thinking for a long time without coming up with a good idea, I laughed a few times at a magnolia tree trunk and turned to go home.
Before I even entered the stairwell, my phone rang. I took it out and saw it was a call from Dai An, so I hurriedly pressed it to my ear to listen.
"Director Chen, prepare yourself to go on a business trip!"
"Where to?"
"Macau."
"Macau?" I almost shouted.
"That's right, Macau."
"Okay!" I hung up the phone and was stunned for a long time.
Suddenly sending me on a business trip to Macau—could it be about Lao Can's affair? ===== CHAPTER 592 =====
