Chapter 363: Fifth Hundred and Fifty-Third Chapter: Tiancan and Dique, No Match for a Single Roar

~7 min read 1,353 words

The roof collapsed with a boom, bricks and shattered wood carrying the force of a thousand jun, smashing down with an unstoppable, ferocious momentum. Some officials did not have time to dodge and were ground into pulp amidst their screams.

As the dust settled, more than half of the people originally in the room were dead or injured.

A black figure emerged from the dust, a faint, indifferent smile curling his lips: "I am Yu Liancheng, Gang Leader of the Qinglong Society. From today on, the Qinglong Society will take over Great Shanghai. I wonder if any of you have any objections?"

Compared to the foreign officials who were crushed to death or had their legs and arms broken, the Mayor was very lucky; not a single stone had hit him, and he was completely unharmed.

But the scene before his eyes made him nearly collapse. Looking at Yu Liancheng, he shrieked: "You actually killed people from the Concession! Are you crazy?"

"No! My dear Joseph, don't die, you damned yellow-skinned pig. I will definitely make the great Meilijian send troops to flatten your Axe Gang."

"Ah, my leg, my leg is broken! Demon, you damned demon!"

All sorts of clamor and wailing filled the air. The soldiers outside were alarmed, and when they walked into the room, they were all dumbfounded, their jaws dropping, almost too shocked to speak.

"What are you still standing there for? Open fire, kill him quickly!" The Mayor's state of mind was near collapse; he had already forgotten that this man had descended into the room with a posture transcending the mundane.

Bang, bang, bang, bang!!

The soldiers raised their guns, and the sound of gunfire was incessant. Bullet after bullet poured out, but at a distance of three feet from Yu Liancheng, they were blocked by an invisible wall of Qi, dropping to the ground with a "ding" sound, still emitting smoke.

It was because of this that the Mayor calmed down. It was as if a basin of cold water had been poured over his head, and he finally understood that this person, like that one, was a transcendent martial artist who did not fear modern firearms at all.

Yu Liancheng sighed: "It seems you have great objections to me, but it doesn't matter; I don't care."

"A misunderstanding, it's all a misunderstanding..." A strong sense of danger suddenly arose in the Mayor, and he hurriedly tried to ease the relationship, but it was already too late.

Yu Liancheng merely flicked his sleeve, and it was as if a gale had been whipped up on flat ground, carrying the rubble and wood chips across the floor to shroud the Mayor and the others head-on.

Amidst a heart-palpitating sound of collisions, the officials who had luckily survived were all transformed into a pool of pulp.

The Mayor was the same; before he died, his eyes still revealed a look of despair and resentment.

This resentment was not directed at Yu Liancheng, but at the person who had promised that as long as he took action to eradicate the Axe Gang, no matter the outcome, they would protect his life.

"I do not care what a dying person has to say."

Just then, wisps of zither music seemed to ring out from the void. The elegant, ancient melody was like the slender fingers of a beauty plucking the most tender string in one's heart, intending to lead the listener into the deepest of dreams.

"Oh, so there is an expert sitting in command." Yu Liancheng raised an eyebrow, his mind as steady as a rock, completely unmoved by the zither music.

He scanned his surroundings, his expression shifting. Suddenly, he struck out with a palm, the palm force fierce, blasting open several walls.

Behind the walls sat two middle-aged men in long gowns with mustaches. They wore sunglasses and round hats, looking like two forlorn street performers.

The two men's expressions showed a hint of surprise; clearly, they had not expected the opponent to not only be unaffected by the zither music but also to easily find their hiding place.

"Tiancan and Dique? The second-ranked experts on the Killer Ranking. Heh, I wonder who could have hired you. But it doesn't matter; you are going to die anyway."

A faint, cold smile traced Yu Liancheng's lips as he strode toward them: "If you can give me some surprises, I will light incense on your graves, if you have graves."

Tiancan and Dique looked solemn, True Qi pouring into their hands. They plucked the strings sharply, and with a "zheng" sound, it was like weapons clashing, the metal vibrating and ringing. A desolate, murderous intent that could not be described poured down, permeating the space between heaven and earth.

At the same time, an invisible force cut through the sky, carving a deep, long mark into the ground as it shot toward Yu Liancheng.

However, when this force reached three feet from Yu Liancheng, it seemed to strike an invisible wall and vanished into nothingness.

"To have actually practiced a Protective Qi Technique to this level, truly remarkable."

Tiancan and Dique showed surprise, but the two had worked together for decades, their minds in sync; without needing to discuss, they had the same idea.

Tiancan held the long zither upright, one hand pressing on Dique's shoulder, pouring True Qi into the latter's body.

Dique's robes billowed, his True Qi circulating to the extreme, his ten fingernails as sharp as knives flashing with a chilling light as he swept them fiercely across the zither.

Zheng!!

The zither music sounded like golden spears and iron horses, the dense sound waves expanding like a physical entity, striking out like a mountain landslide or a tsunami. In mid-air, it transformed into a giant fist, carrying peerless wind force, as if to pierce the void itself, smashing heavily toward Yu Liancheng.

However, Yu Liancheng merely flicked a wisp of finger wind, causing the fist-shaped sound wave to collapse, the airflow and the shrill sounds pouring out in all directions.

Tiancan and Dique's expressions grew increasingly solemn, knowing they had encountered an expert the likes of which they had never seen in their lives.

Especially Dique; his hands had turned into afterimages, incomparably swift, the whistling sound like the weeping and shrieking of evil ghosts, shaking one's heart and soul as if the netherworld had descended upon the mortal realm.

Wave after wave of sound rolled over, transforming into ghosts and Asuras in mid-air, surging toward Yu Liancheng like a tide, shrieking and reaching out their hands to drag him into the Avici Hell.

"Is this all you can do even when going all out? Truly disappointing." Yu Liancheng sighed lightly, then took a soft breath.

A long roar.

The roar was like a thunderclap from the nine heavens, shaking the soul, rolling outward with a divine power that could change the color of the sky and stir the winds and clouds.

The roar transformed into tangible ripples, colliding with the Yezha and evil ghosts formed by the zither music, instantly grinding them to pieces.

And as the ripples swept over Tiancan and Dique, it was as if they had suffered thousands of years of weathering, their bodies crumbling into dust.

"It seems I won't be able to light incense for you."

Yu Liancheng shrugged.

Suddenly, his expression shifted, his black hair rising without wind, lifting toward the sky. His deep eyes, capable of perceiving all things, looked upward, revealing a rare look of excitement as he muttered to himself.

"So this was just an appetizer; the real main course is only arriving now."

Before the words had faded, a figure plummeted from mid-air, the momentum of the descent like a falling comet. Under the pressure of that person's Qi, the air seemed to turn into a True Gang as solid as a copper wall and iron bastion.

Yu Liancheng focused his power into his eyes, and amidst the swirling airflow, he saw a bald, elderly man in a white undershirt pouncing over like a toad, plain and unadorned, yet filled with murderous intent.
