Chapter 39: One Against a Hundred

~7 min read 1,371 words

Shangguan Xueer vomited twice, looking at Yu Liancheng with eyes full of resentment.

This bastard master sometimes just likes to watch people make fools of themselves; his temperament is truly wicked to the extreme.

But who told her he is a half-master? Unfortunately, she currently lacks the strength to "betray her master and destroy her sect," so this matter can only be left unsettled.

Shangguan Xueer said: "Isn't Sister Xue Bing with my nephew-grandson Lu?"

Yu Liancheng sneered: "It is precisely because she is with Lu Xiaofeng that it is dangerous."

Shangguan Xueer said in confusion: "Although my little nephew-grandson's martial arts cannot compare to Master's, he is very capable and not stupid. How could Sister Xue Bing encounter danger following him?"

Yu Liancheng said coldly: "Because Lu Xiaofeng trusts his so-called friends too much. When infiltrating the Wang Mansion, he actually let She Wang look after Xue Bing."

She Wang is the king of this Black Street. In Lu Xiaofeng's words, there are at least ten fugitives being hunted by the government here, twenty of the fastest-handed thieves, and thirty killers who specialize in fighting and murdering people in dark alleys.

One can imagine, if his subordinates are all such villains who commit all kinds of crimes and arson, then what kind of good person could She Wang be?

Perhaps he is indeed loyal, but he is certainly no saint. For such a person, even if one has a friendship with him, one should be extra wary.

Yet Lu Xiaofeng insisted on handing a delicate beauty like Xue Bing over to She Wang.

In Xue Bing's tragedy, even if She Wang and Jin Jiuling are unforgivable, Lu Xiaofeng must also bear part of the responsibility.

He trusts his so-called friends too much.

He treats these friends with absolute sincerity, believing that since he is so good to his friends, these friends naturally have no reason to treat him poorly.

This mindset of Lu Xiaofeng is truly too idealistic and too naive.

If it were just him being cheated by friends, that would be one thing, but he actually dragged Xue Bing into it.

Shangguan Xueer did not understand what Yu Liancheng meant and was about to ask, but Yu Liancheng had already stopped at the end of the alley, where there was a narrow door.

The two pushed the door open and walked in; it was a large courtyard where a dozen or so men with bare chests were gambling, sweating all over.

In the corner were stacked several bamboo cages; some cages contained poisonous snakes, while others held wild cats and wild dogs.

A burly man was pulling a yellow dog out of a cage and casually pressing it into a large water basin nearby, actually drowning the dog alive. He was clearly an expert at killing dogs, leaving not a drop of blood, as eating it this way is the most nourishing.

Shangguan Xueer was about to vomit again.

"Who are you, daring to trespass on She Wang's territory?"

As Yu Liancheng and Shangguan Xueer appeared, the group of burly men cast their gazes over one after another. Especially when two of the men saw Xue'er, their eyes lit up, as if starving wild dogs had seen a meaty bone.

"Whoever you are, trespassing here without notice has already violated She Wang's rules. Take them down first."

A burly man like an iron tower had already walked over.

His arms were thick and his muscles were knotted, giving people a strong sense of oppression. His palms were especially wide and powerful, the size of prayer mats; one look and it was clear he had practiced hand techniques and had achieved no small level of mastery.

Yu Liancheng glanced at Xue'er indifferently: "You have already vomited enough today; you might as well go outside and wait."

Xue'er's face was slightly pale, but she stubbornly said: "No, I want to be with my half-master."

"Heh, courting death!" The iron-tower burly man grinned hideously, his thick palms already grabbing toward Yu Liancheng.

Yu Liancheng flicked his finger, and a wisp of energy surged through the air.

The burly man's figure suddenly stalled. He looked down in disbelief, and his chest had somehow developed a bloody hole; fresh blood gushed out, and he fell down stiffly.

When this man fell, the other men had already taken out various weapons, shouting as they rushed toward Yu Liancheng.

Yu Liancheng's sleeves flicked lightly, like a piece of flowing cloud brushing by. Five or six burly men flew out horizontally, crashing several yards away, their cries of pain incessant.

With another roll of his sleeves, the seven or eight blades and swords coming at him were swept up. After a series of clanging collisions, they shattered into hundreds of fragments.

With a light shake of his arm, his sleeves unfolded, and the fragments shot out in all directions. The air whistled, and their power was by no means inferior to any expert of hidden weapons.

Immediately, another series of screams rang out.

Some people were pinned by the fragments in their throats, chests, and other vital points, and after a few groans, they lost their breath.

Others were wounded in non-fatal places, but their spirits had already been shattered; when had they ever seen such an expert? They felt their whole bodies go soft, and they didn't even have the strength to stand up. Some even lost control of their bladders, creating a foul stench.

Yu Liancheng did not practice martial arts related to robes and sleeves, but once his martial arts reached his level, he could pick up any martial arts move at will, and it would never feel the least bit abrupt.

And this was She Wang's lair, so naturally, there was more than just this small number of people.

Now that the commotion had grown, it finally alarmed more people. Figures kept flickering, nearly a hundred in number, and amidst a chorus of shouts and curses, they crowded over.

"A bunch of rabble."

Yu Liancheng shook his head. He tapped his toes, and the ground cracked inch by inch. He himself seemed like a cannonball, carrying the force of a thousand jun, crashing into the crowd with a boom.

His hands were still behind his back, not moving at all. But the power carried by his physical body was shocking to the extreme; the slightest contact with him resulted in broken bones and tendons, sending people flying horizontally amidst screams.

Blades and swords slashed over, but before they could get close to Yu Liancheng, they were pushed away by the surging airflow, instead hacking at their own companions in mutual slaughter.

Facing this group of people, although Yu Liancheng did not let go and slaughter them all, he really did not show much mercy.

They were almost all engaged in low-life activities; they deserved to die.

Of course, if there were any innocent ones, that was just their bad luck.

Clearing the field so swiftly, Yu Liancheng still felt it was too slow. His right leg moved, erupting with a sharp blade-Qi that swept out horizontally, leaving a shallow, long blade mark on the ground. Anyone who came into contact with this blade-Qi immediately sprayed blood and flew backward, their whole body feeling as if it were being torn apart.

Soon, apart from Yu Liancheng, there was no one left standing in the courtyard. Groans and wails were incessant, and the thick, bloody scent made one want to vomit.

Shangguan Xueer was vomiting.

She was, after all, still a little girl. Although the situation before her was not yet truly tragic, it had already exceeded her limit of endurance.

"I told you to go outside and wait, but you wouldn't believe me. I'm afraid you've vomited up everything you ate today."

Yu Liancheng patted Xue'er's shoulder, channeling a stream of warm True Qi into her body, finally bringing a hint of color back to her pale face.

Xue'er subconsciously wanted to retort, but she was hit by another wave of dry heaving.

"Time to go."

A moment later, Yu Liancheng and the girl walked up a very narrow staircase, pushed open a very narrow door, and saw Xue Bing and She Wang.
