Chapter 705: The Peak Master Who Can Take a Beating
Yu Liancheng has ascended the mountain.
For countless years, this mountain has been the Divine Mountain and holy land in the hearts of all monks in the world.
Especially for the monks living on the mountain, it is their source of pride.
If the lowly Herdsmen from beneath the earth were to step foot on this mountain, it would be a desecration and insult to the mountain, punishable by death.
Now, Yu Liancheng, that world-renowned giant of the Demon Sect, has walked openly onto the "Divine Mountain."
The mountain path is long and steep, and the peaks are vast; from time to time, Yu Liancheng can see yellow temples hidden among the trees of the peaks.
It is said that the Yuelun Kingdom is a flourishing land of Buddhism, with the scenery of seventy-two temples in the mist and rain, but compared to this Buddha Kingdom, it is not worth mentioning at all.
Unlike many simple temples in the world, the temples in this Buddha Kingdom are magnificent, grand, and resplendent, beautiful and solemn to the extreme, worthy of the name of a Buddhist holy land.
But upon second thought, the Hanging Temple is isolated from the world; to be able to build such beauty, it must have sucked the marrow from the serfs beneath the peaks. The more beautiful the temples, the more miserable the world at the foot of the mountain.
Therefore, these glorious temples, in the eyes of Yu Liancheng, are no different from mountains of white bones piled up from countless corpses.
Along the way, Yu Liancheng also encountered some monks from the Hanging Temple. Some shouted and hollered, some called for him to be beaten and killed, some asked questions out of curiosity, and some ignored him in silence.
Toward the different monks, Yu Liancheng adopted different attitudes; some he knocked unconscious, some he killed with a wave of his hand, some he answered, and some he met with silence.
Half an hour later, Yu Liancheng arrived at a cliff terrace hidden by green vines. Parting the vines, he found a small, nameless tree by the cliff, its green leaves lush and serene. Beside it stood a very small temple, its yellow paint long since peeled away, the stone steps covered in dust, as if no one had been here for many years.
Yu Liancheng did not head toward the Great Hero Treasure Hall at the summit; he simply stood before this small, nameless tree.
His fingers brushed lightly against the tree, and a surge of vibrant vitality was injected into it.
Soon, the small tree was covered in small white flowers, blooming between the sparse green leaves, emitting an extremely serene fragrance that mingled with the breeze and drifted far away.
A breeze blew across the cliff, and the small white flowers on the green leaves trembled slightly.
The vitality from his fingertips flowed endlessly, and the small tree changed at a speed visible to the naked eye; the green leaves grew thicker, and the small white flowers withered.
But this did not signify desolation, for only when flowers fall can fruit be borne.
Before long, the tree was covered in green pears.
So it was a pear tree.
Yu Liancheng reached out and plucked a green pear from a branch; the pear was much smaller than the common pears of the world, its skin a pale, tender green, smooth as jade, giving one a sense of sweetness and juiciness. He summoned a stream of water, washed the pear, and took a bite; the taste was quite good, and he called out, "Old monk, you don't mind if I eat one of your pears, do you?"
"A guest has come from afar; it is but a green pear, please enjoy it."
A carriage came slowly from the Great Hero Treasure Hall at the summit, pulled by sixteen fine horses. If a master skilled in judging horses saw these sixteen horses, he would surely drool with envy, for each horse could be considered worth a thousand gold, divine and peerless. However, these sixteen fine horses seemed to be pulling the carriage with some difficulty.
The carriage came to a stop.
An old monk wearing a bamboo hat and holding a tin staff stepped down from the carriage.
When the old monk's right foot landed on the ground, the carriage, crafted from fine steel, suddenly lifted half a foot off the ground. One could imagine that this old monk was indeed a heavyweight figure; it was no wonder the sixteen fine horses felt the strain. The previous words had also been uttered from the old monk's lips, each word slow and heavy, giving one a sense of weight like a mountain.
"You've overthought it; I wasn't talking to you." Yu Liancheng flipped his palm and took out the Buddha's Chessboard: "I was talking to the old monk inside here, the Buddha you kowtow and burn incense to every day. This chessboard is his world; although I have temporarily trapped him, I have no way to truly erase him. It is quite troublesome."
The person who descended from the carriage was the number one person of the Buddhist faith, the Peak Master.
This Human Buddha, upon hearing Yu Liancheng's words, immediately revealed a look of reverence, pressed his palms together, knelt on both knees, and prostrated himself before the chessboard with the utmost piety.
"Look at you, child, it's not even the New Year, why are you kowtowing? Besides hitting you with a few big red welts on your head, I have no way to give you a red envelope." Yu Liancheng put away the chessboard and looked at the Peak Master with a smile.
The Peak Master slowly stood up and said, "This old monk is puzzled. Benefactor Yu also practices Buddhism and is a disciple of the Buddha, calling yourself the Wuliang Zhongsheng Fo, yet your actions are to destroy the Buddha Kingdom?"
"Because... it is too dirty. The Buddhas of this world have already violated the philosophy of saving all living beings, so I must cleanse it." Yu Liancheng smiled slightly and said, "Speaking of which, I am reminded of a Baigu Pusa. That Bodhisattva also saw that the Buddhist faith had violated its original intent and made four great vows. Would you like to hear them?"
The Peak Master said, "Please speak."
"For boundless living beings, I vow to kill; for endless afflictions, I vow to cut; for the immeasurable Buddhist faith, I vow to destroy; for the supreme Buddhist Dao, I vow to sever." As Yu Liancheng uttered the four great vows of the Baigu Pusa, a vast, surging killing intent seemed to rise into the sky across the entire Human Buddha Land, stirring the clouds and sweeping across the land like a deluge. All the monks on this mountain, for some reason, felt an ominous premonition in their hearts, their expressions grave, as if the end of the world were at hand.
The Peak Master was silent for a moment and said, "This Bodhisattva has fallen into the Demon path."
"Practitioners who can become Bodhisattvas are all devout in faith, possessing great wisdom and great compassion. If not for true despair, feeling that the Buddhist faith was beyond saving, how could they have made these four great vows?"
Yu Liancheng said, "I am not as extreme as that Baigu Pusa, so whether facing the Xiling Divine Palace or your Buddhist faith, I replace the old with the new, cleansing with blood, rather than wanting both to disappear completely."
"The life of a mortal is always full of suffering and indeed requires some solace; religion is sometimes not a bad thing, but religion must never become the master of the world. As for the Hanging Temple, this Buzhi Zhidi built from the marrow and flesh of living beings, it should not exist in the world at all."
The Peak Master sighed leisurely: "It seems that today, this old monk and you must have a battle."
"I know your strength is great, having cultivated both spirit and body into a Buddha, impervious to blades and spears, the so-called 'Human Buddha,' but I am not weak either." Yu Liancheng said leisurely: "Therefore, today, either you lose or I win."
The Peak Master was slightly silent, his expression solemn and grave, and he suddenly spoke: "Thus have I heard, the three realms are all impermanent, all existence has no joy, the nature of the Dao is the original appearance, all is empty and void..."
The scriptures were uttered from the mouth of the Peak Master, each word as heavy as a mountain, yet they spread in all directions at an extremely fast speed, spreading extremely fast and extremely far. They echoed between the cliff walls, echoing endlessly in countless temples, so distant and profound.
Soon, countless chanting sounds began to merge into the cicada-like singing of the Peak Master.
Countless temples, countless monks were reciting Buddhist scriptures, and countless chanting sounds mixed together, rolling back and forth across the entire mountain like a heavenly river.
"No wind and no dew, no dew and no lightning, with this pure view, it arises from that body..."
The Peak Master is the Human Buddha, the supreme being of the Hanging Temple; he has his own Buddha realm, and the scriptures he speaks in the human world are the words of the Buddha.
The words of the Buddha are the rules of this world.
Now, the words of the Buddha, mixed with the Sanskrit sounds of countless temples, have already shrouded the entire Divine Mountain Buddha Kingdom.
And in the words of the Buddha, all is empty and void; wind, dew, fog, electricity, rain, and snow naturally do not exist, nor does the Heaven and Earth Yuan Qi. If even the Heaven and Earth Yuan Qi does not exist, then how can one mobilize it?
Thus, on the entire Divine Mountain, all the Heaven and Earth Yuan Qi could not be mobilized, and even Yu Liancheng's own internal True Qi became much more peaceful and submissive, giving one a lazy feeling.
The Peak Master's expression was grave; he extended his finger and pointed at Yu Liancheng. The words he uttered, though still as heavy as a mountain, were now much faster, and his voice grew louder and louder: "Thus have I heard, there is a mountain called Banruo, its weight one hundred and eight thousand times that of Tianqi Mountain, capable of suppressing the Fengbao Sea, capable of suppressing all Demons."
Others could not use Heaven and Earth Yuan Qi in this Sutra-Speaking World.
But the Peak Master could, because he was the master of this Sutra-Speaking World.
When his words fell, the Heaven and Earth Yuan Qi instantly swirled violently; ordinary people could not see it, but practitioners could perceive it. These Heaven and Earth Yuan Qi piled up densely, swirling like thick rain clouds, and one could clearly feel the majestic and terrifying power within, like a mountain in the shape of reality, suppressing Yu Liancheng.
The world was very quiet.
No sound was heard.
Yet Yu Liancheng felt the wind whistling down by his ears, a pressure like Mount Tai, and even the ground beneath his feet seemed unable to bear the invisible and terrifying pressure, cracking with a 'crack, crack' sound, splitting into spiderweb-like fissures.
When that invisible "Banruo Mountain" was about to press onto Yu Liancheng's shoulders, he raised his left hand slightly and extended a finger, resisting the "Banruo Mountain."
The Banruo Mountain could not sink even a fraction further.
It can suppress the Fengbao Sea.
It can suppress all Demon.
Yet it cannot suppress him.
"I gave you so much time to make your move, and with all that flashy nonsense, this is it?"
Yu Liancheng shook his head in great disappointment, clearly unsatisfied. The next moment, he changed his finger into a fist and punched upward; the fist momentum was incomparably wild, as if a pillar supporting the sky had been erected, capable of piercing the firmament. With a "Bang!", the invisible "Banruo Mountain" shattered, transforming into a violent sea of energy that swept in all directions.
"Don't you know that I cultivate Demon Sect techniques and my physical body is very strong?!"
The ground beneath Yu Liancheng's feet exploded, and his entire body transformed into a black aurora, heading toward the Peak Master of Scripture-Lecturing, while simultaneously throwing a punch: "Take my punch first!"
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!
This punch's momentum pressed down on mountains and rivers, encompassing heaven and earth; the majestic energy locked onto the Peak Master of Scripture-Lecturing, leaving him nowhere to hide and nowhere to dodge, forcing him to take it head-on. The air within a hundred zhang was stirred by this punch and integrated into the fist momentum, making this punch as heavy as the high heavens and as deep as the earth, with power beyond calculation.
The Peak Master of Scripture-Lecturing was a Human Buddha, having refined his physical body and spirit to be entirely Buddha; his defensive power could almost be considered peerless in the world, yet in the face of this punch, he actually felt a sense of heart-palpitating dread.
The closer the fist came, the more he could feel that indescribable sense of oppression. It was as if the earth had flipped over, and all the mountains, rivers, trees, and lakes were pressing down upon his body, intending to grind him into a mass of minced meat.
The Peak Master of Scripture-Lecturing's energy was locked, and his own physical body was too heavy, his speed far inferior to other experts above the Five Realms, so he could only take the punch head-on.
The Peak Master of Scripture-Lecturing crossed his hands and held them before his chest.
It looked simple, yet it was as if layers of mountain peaks were stacked horizontally, capable of resisting all the torrents of the world.
Boom!
The next moment, Yu Liancheng's fist collided with the arms of the Peak Master of Scripture-Lecturing. Heaven and earth fell silent; after a momentary stagnation, a boom like rolling thunder erupted, and violent energy surged in all directions, shaking the heavens and the earth. The defense of the Peak Master of Scripture-Lecturing was quickly torn apart, and the remaining fist energy struck his chest.
The Peak Master of Scripture-Lecturing was immediately sent flying like a rag Wawa, blood spraying from his mouth.
The Peak Master of Scripture-Lecturing, who possessed the strongest defense in the world and was a peerless expert whose strength could almost be ranked in the top three, had been sent flying by a punch that did not contain a shred of Heaven and Earth Yuan Qi. Many monks who witnessed this scene felt as if they were in a dream, unable to believe their eyes. The monks whose faith in the Buddhist path was firmer were hit even harder; some were dazed, as if the sky had collapsed and the earth had sunk, their faith crumbling.
Rumble!
The Peak Master of Scripture-Lecturing flew dozens of zhang, snapping countless trees, and finally crashed into a magnificent temple; the entire temple collapsed in an instant, dust and smoke flying.
"Your Sutra-Speaking World is indeed easy to use against ordinary experts above the Five Realms, but when encountering top-tier existences above the Five Realms, it is merely a chicken rib, and for me, it can be broken with a casual word."
Yu Liancheng withdrew his fist and walked toward the Peak Master of Scripture-Lecturing unhurriedly; an invisible force emanated from his body and spread to the surroundings.
"Break."
As this word was uttered, a faint "crackle" sound of shattering could be heard, as if something had broken.
The Yuan Qi between heaven and earth began to flow once again.
The Buddha Kingdom no longer existed.
The so-called Buddha Kingdom was a Sutra-Speaking World supported by the Peak Master of Scripture-Lecturing and countless disciples of the Hanging Temple.
Yu Liancheng expanded his "Way of Only Me"; the "Way of Only Me" was the strongest Way, and its foundation was to support a world where all laws were subject to oneself.
With the world of the "Way of Only Me," he forcibly burst the "Buddha Kingdom" created by the Sutra-Speaking.
Yu Liancheng had walked to the front of the collapsed temple; through the collapsed architecture, one could see the Peak Master of Scripture-Lecturing sitting cross-legged in the ruins. At this moment, blood was flowing from the corner of the Peak Master of Scripture-Lecturing's mouth, his chest was slightly sunken with a faint fist mark, and his entire skin was stained with brilliant light, as if cast from gold, glowing with divine radiance.
It was just that for some reason, it gave people a slightly dim feeling.
"To be able to take my punch, you are indeed very durable. But I can still throw one hundred and eight thousand punches like this one."
Yu Liancheng looked at the Peak Master of Scripture-Lecturing, his energy erupting. Boom! The area of dozens of zhang was like a small boat drifting on the sea, trembling incessantly, and countless roof tiles were swept into the sky by the violent wind, which was extremely terrifying.
He raised his sandbag-sized fist.
"So, are you ready to take my one hundred and eight thousand punches?"
