Chapter 433
"For real? You aren't joking or trying to trick me?"
"How many times have you lied to me now?"
Yumiko Miura recalled the embarrassing incident in class where she and Kitakami Yoru had fallen over because he had deceived her.
"Why would I lie to you?"
"If Ebina-san is willing to talk about it later, I'll tell you."
Kitakami Yoru had absolutely no intention of joking.
If he continued to let Yumiko Miura misunderstand, there was no telling if this arrogant but slightly dim-witted blonde girl would blurt the whole thing out.
If Chika Fujiwara found out, he would be skinned alive even if he didn't die.
"Better to get the vaccination first, just in case the misfortune happens," Kitakami Yoru thought to himself.
"Then I might as well ask Hina; that's just useless talk that amounts to nothing."
Yumiko Miura shot him a look of extreme impatience.
Following this, the two of them, both physically and mentally uncomfortable, stopped arguing.
A few minutes later.
Hina Ebina returned carrying a bag filled with frozen drinks.
"I bought the water. I wasn't sure what you'd like to drink in this situation."
"There's pure water and Pocari Sweat too, take a look."
Opening the bag, Hina Ebina was slightly out of breath.
She had run all the way to the small supermarket at the Mother Farm and run back after buying the drinks.
"Why did you buy drinks for Kitakami Yoru?"
Yumiko Miura glared at Kitakami Yoru in annoyance, glanced into the bag, and casually picked up a bottle of fruit juice.
Having recovered from the mental fear, Yumiko Miura felt mostly fine, aside from her legs feeling a bit weak and lacking strength when she walked.
"I'll have a cola, an iced one."
Kitakami Yoru pointed to the conspicuous cola can and said to Hina Ebina.
"Can you handle drinking that in your condition?"
Hina Ebina looked at Kitakami Yoru uncertainly; the situation was already looking quite bad.
"It's fine, I just like drinking this. It feels good when it's icy."
Kitakami Yoru shook his head gently.
Thoughtfully, Hina Ebina pulled the tab on the cola can and handed it over.
"Hina, Kitakami Yoru has already told me everything he needed to."
After taking a sip of juice, Yumiko Miura glanced at Kitakami Yoru and spoke to Hina Ebina.
She was likely bluffing, which was why she said that.
"What?"
Hina Ebina turned her head in surprise.
"I haven't let out a single word, don't talk nonsense."
"Miura-san is just curious because our relationship seems off."
Kitakami Yoru hurriedly retorted.
After a moment of stunned silence, Hina Ebina laughed and said, "Kitakami-kun and I are just good friends."
"Hina, what would happen if you just told the truth?"
Yumiko Miura narrowed her emerald eyes.
"Miura-san, do you like Hayato Hayama?"
From the side, Kitakami Yoru silently interjected into the conversation.
After finishing, he let out a burp that tasted strongly of cola, and his bloated stomach instantly flattened.
"Who I like has nothing to do with you, why are you cutting in?"
Yumiko Miura turned to look at Kitakami Yoru.
"Everyone knows it. You like Hayato Hayama, and you're so close, why haven't you confessed?"
"Basically, if you grabbed anyone in the whole grade and asked, at least half of them would know."
Kitakami Yoru spoke with conviction, holding the cola in his left hand while rubbing his chin with his right.
"Huh? Kitakami Yoru, what on earth are you talking about?"
"Does it have anything to do with you?"
"I'm talking to Hina, get lost!"
Yumiko Miura had definitely been poked in a sore spot by Kitakami Yoru's words, and her volume increased significantly.
She attacked Kitakami Yoru with a tone that was almost like she was scolding him.
Seeing that the situation was getting worse, Hina Ebina quickly grabbed Yumiko Miura's hand and forcibly pulled her away.
As they left, she looked back and gave Kitakami Yoru a look.
"Why? Weren't you getting along fine before?"
"Coming out to play, and having this happen several times in a row, it's killing me..."
Sighing helplessly and complaining, she pulled Yumiko Miura hard and only stopped after they were far away from Kitakami Yoru.
"Hina, can you let go of me now?"
Yumiko Miura, who was afraid of heights, was resistant in both thought and action, but because her body lacked strength, she was easily dragged away by Hina Ebina.
"Yumiko, calm down for a moment, don't worry."
"I am absolutely on your side."
Hina Ebina nodded, pulled her hand back, and replied to Yumiko Miura earnestly.
She was soothing her best friend's emotions to stabilize her.
"That Kitakami Yoru is driving me crazy!"
Hearing this, Yumiko Miura felt embarrassed to complain to Hina Ebina, so she could only blame Kitakami Yoru.
"Yes, yes, Kitakami-kun is in the wrong, I'll go talk to him."
Squeezing her best friend's little hand, Hina Ebina added a soothing remark and hurried back into the distance.
Kitakami Yoru had remained standing in the same spot, not having moved a single step.
Watching Hina Ebina trot back quickly, he smiled.
"Kitakami-kun, please, I'm begging you..."
"Can you stay a bit further away from Yumiko? She responds to soft approaches, not hard ones. Don't be so confrontational with her..."
"I don't know who I should be helping anymore."
As soon as Hina Ebina arrived, she brought up the main issue.
"Yumiko keeps asking me for private talks, asking about this matter."
"You have your reasons, and I have mine too..."
"You're afraid that Sho Tobe will confess to you and you'll have to reject him. I'm afraid of being your shield and having others find out."
"I'm very worried. You know what kind of person Miura-san is, right?"
Kitakami Yoru maintained a forced smile.
"The fact that Yumiko likes Hayama is really..."
"It's so frustrating..."
Hina Ebina grabbed her hair in frustration.
"I don't mind helping you occasionally, as long as you can get Miura-san to shut up."
"She's walking over..."
During their conversation, Kitakami Yoru saw Yumiko Miura walking toward them with long strides and hurriedly warned her.
"Kitakami-kun, don't say anything, I'll handle it."
Hina Ebina quickly turned her head and pushed her palms toward Kitakami Yoru.
"Hina, let's go."
Yumiko Miura hadn't even reached them yet, but her voice drifted into their ears first.
"At least she's not here to settle scores."
Muttering a sigh of relief, Hina Ebina responded happily, wishing that these two would stay as far away from each other as possible.
