Chapter 64

~7 min read 1,216 words

Kitakami Yoru felt a complex mix of emotions, yet there was a faint sense of pleasure.

This strange feeling was simply intoxicating.

"If only I could make Kasumigaoka Utaha, Shinomiya Kaguya, and that Eriri who loves to roll her eyes..."

Kitakami Yoru savored the memory of just moments ago, when he had gripped the wrist of Miura Yumiko, that beautiful blonde gal, and pressed her against the wall.

The massive disparity in their builds left her unable to break free, forcing her to struggle with a panicked and fearful expression.

If it had been the petite Eriri instead...

Perhaps he could make her perform a dogeza, with her little bottom sticking up, to apologize to him.

It would be best if she added a few barks, too.

Nearby, Miura Yumiko, having calmed down, cast a complex look at Kitakami Yoru while secretly picking up her little leather shoes.

During the struggle, her little feet had kicked wildly, sending her shoes flying and messing up her socks.

She sat down right there, took off her black mid-calf cotton socks to reveal a pair of exquisite, fair, and jade-like feet, rolled the socks back on, and stuffed them into her shoes.

Kitakami Yoru shook his head vigorously to cast out the wild thoughts in his mind, took one last look at Miura Yumiko, and left the alleyway.

Only after his figure disappeared at the mouth of the alley did Miura Yumiko stand up from the ground, her expression full of lingering fear.

On the commercial street, at the bookstore that previously displayed the Genshin standee.

Aoyama Nanami was wearing the bookstore's work jacket, diligently completing her newly found job.

Since she had moved, she needed a job closer by; she couldn't spend a huge amount of time commuting.

It was almost time to get off work, but Aoyama Nanami was still working conscientiously, recommending manga to a customer.

Although she didn't understand manga and never read it, she had mastered the store's sales data and knew what different demographics liked to read.

"How about this one? It fits your description perfectly, Kanda-san."

Aoyama Nanami introduced it to the customer, Kanda Sorata.

"Oh, let me take a look then."

Kanda Sorata was very reserved, maintaining a distance between himself and Aoyama Nanami.

He didn't like reading manga at all.

In reality, he had seen Aoyama Nanami working at this bookstore and wanted to come over to talk.

Also, he wanted to hit on Aoyama Nanami and ask if she wanted to go on a date over the weekend.

He found that he was liking the girl in front of him more and more.

"Um..."

Kanda Sorata absent-mindedly closed the manga and opened his mouth toward the young girl in front of him.

"Aoyama-san shouldn't have a boyfriend, right?" Kanda Sorata muttered to himself again.

"Do you not like it? Then let me change it for another one." Aoyama Nanami was earnestly finishing her work.

After she finished speaking, Kanda Sorata was still hesitating, too nervous to speak.

Aoyama Nanami's phone alarm rang.

"Excuse me, Kanda-san."

Aoyama Nanami apologized quickly and took her phone out from her uniform.

She turned off the alarm.

She was moving today, and Gabriel and Kitakami Yoru were going to help her; it was now time to get off work.

"Do you have something to do?" The impulse in Kanda Sorata's heart was dampened.

"Yes, I'm off work." Aoyama Nanami smiled apologetically.

"Then I'll take this one, sorry for the trouble." Kanda Sorata said embarrassedly.

After finishing the transaction, Aoyama Nanami changed out of her work uniform and headed straight out of the commercial street toward the station.

When she left, she didn't even say goodbye to Kanda Sorata.

The hesitant and conflicted Kanda Sorata finally decided to chase after her to say what was on his mind.

He was in the soccer club and had participated in the middle school league with decent results, which was how he managed to get into Shuchiin.

"I'm not bad looking, Aoyama-san should like me, right?"

"Soccer is very popular lately, and there are even girls asking for my contact information..."

Kanda Sorata fantasized in his heart while running fast to catch up.

At the station.

"I'm sorry, I'm late, Kitakami-san." Aoyama Nanami said with an apologetic tone.

"I just got here." Kitakami Yoru shook his head.

He had only just come out of the alleyway, and his mood was still rippling from time to time.

"Thank you so much for helping me move." Aoyama Nanami smiled.

"You saved me on utility bills, too." Kitakami Yoru said indifferently, and the two walked into the station together.

"Aoyama-san, why is she walking with that damn otaku again?"

The late-arriving Kanda Sorata felt a panic in his heart at this sight, feeling extremely uncomfortable.

It was an indescribable feeling of discomfort.

The girl he liked was with a disgusting damn otaku.

After a long while, he finally calmed his mood and comforted himself.

In any case, even if Aoyama-san didn't like him, she couldn't possibly like a disgusting damn otaku, right?

59: We are friends

Aoyama Nanami's home.

"Thank you, Kitakami-san, I'll pay you for the fare."

Aoyama Nanami and Kitakami Yoru walked out of an old apartment building one after the other, holding a huge cardboard box in their hands.

Inside were all the items Aoyama Nanami had packed in advance.

As for Gabriel, she was too small and completely useless here, so she stayed in the apartment.

"Don't you find it heavy?"

Kitakami Yoru walked behind and asked casually.

"Actually, it's alright, maybe I've gotten used to exercising." Aoyama Nanami smiled.

"Oh, then what is this black piece of equipment?" Kitakami Yoru looked for a topic, otherwise it would be too boring.

"This? It's equipment for practicing voice acting; it can correct and prompt my tone." Aoyama Nanami explained.

"Voice acting?" Kitakami Yoru felt a hint of curiosity.

"I'm working hard to get my voice acting qualification; I'm currently still attending a voice acting school." Aoyama Nanami replied.

"That must be really hard, coming all the way from Kansai." Kitakami Yoru responded casually.

"Eh?"

Aoyama Nanami stopped in her tracks, turned back in great surprise, her expression a bit shy and strange.

"Um, is my accent very heavy?" Aoyama Nanami seemed very concerned about this point.

"It's okay, just a little bit." Kitakami Yoru freed a finger and made a gesture that would anger a Korean man.

"Phew~" The young girl breathed a sigh of relief.

Carrying two large boxes, they took a car back to the apartment.

On the fourth floor, Gabriel was helping Aoyama Nanami sort through the things in the cardboard boxes.

After finishing quickly, she picked up her laptop and started playing games again.

Aoyama Nanami and Kitakami Yoru left again and moved a second trip back.

It was already dark by the time they finally finished.

"Thank you, Kitakami-san."

Aoyama Nanami thanked him sincerely; she had received so much help.

She had even doubted Kitakami Yoru before, which was truly wrong of her; she felt very guilty and wanted to do something for Kitakami Yoru to make up for it.

However, Kitakami Yoru didn't have anything he needed her help with.

"I'm leaving."

Kitakami Yoru waved his hand and left the fourth floor.
