Chapter 439: Inversion
After Wang Yu opened his eyes, he was back in the cramped compartment, still seated on the single bed, and he let out a quiet sigh of relief.
Although he didn't know whether he could return to the cultivation world, even on Blue Star, this dimensional space remained his greatest secret.
His earlier arrangements within the dimensional space were naturally meant to continue nurturing the second-rank White Bone Demon Flag, which could not be retrieved into the real world.
The purpose was twofold: to further accumulate nurturing experience on the White Bone Yin Demon Flag, and because he felt it would never hurt to have a high-rank artifact stationed within the dimensional space.
After all, he still hadn't figured out how this dimensional space had formed.
He didn't believe every future Blue Star resident equipped with a personal auxiliary optical brain system carried such a mysterious space capable of simulating all things at will.
According to Dr. Chen's earlier account, the super optical brain's simulations consumed massive resources, and the future Blue Star Alliance wouldn't activate the simulation function lightly.
As Wang Yu was pondering, a knock came at the door.
His heart instantly tightened.
Given his powerful spiritual sense, how had he not sensed anyone arriving outside the door?
After a quick thought, a figure flashed through his mind; he extended his spiritual sense to scan outside, and immediately understood.
He got off the bed, pulled open the small door, and found an elderly man in Tang-style robes standing outside, hands clasped behind his back—it was the "Grandmaster" of the Wu Shen Squad.
"Number One, how was your rest? Care to have a drink with old man?" The Tang-robed elder smiled, pulling his hands forward to reveal two small white cups and a silver wine flask.
"You're too kind, but my space is cramped—I'm afraid I'll have to make you uncomfortable, Mr." Wang Yu was slightly surprised but showed no outward reaction, smiling as he invited the elder inside.
Submarines certainly didn't allow alcohol, but remembering the Wu Shen Squad's special status in China, he now understood.
In this tiny space, besides the single bed, there was barely room to step; the two naturally sat cross-legged facing each other on the bed.
Wang Yu casually pulled out a folded metal stool from under the bed and placed it between them as a makeshift table.
The Tang-robed elder placed one cup before each of them, then lifted the flask and poured a measure into each cup.
The wine was clear and transparent, resembling water, but the moment it left the flask, a rich, mellow aroma filled the air, mingled with another familiar scent.
Wang Yu lifted the cup, sniffed it, and exclaimed, "Osmanthus."
"Hah! Number One, your nose is sharp."
"This is a famous liquor from my hometown, buried under the big osmanthus tree in my backyard for over a decade. I only dug up a small jar before setting out on this mission."
"Come, let's drink one together—how does it taste?" The elder laughed, explained briefly, then raised his cup toward Wang Yu.
"Then thank you."
Wang Yu didn't refuse; he raised the cup and drank it down with a bold, generous air, but before doing so, he had already scanned the wine three or four times with his spiritual sense.
He confirmed there was no foreign substance—just ordinary wine.
"Don't call me 'old sir.' I'm Li Shiyi—I'm only forty," the elder said after setting down his cup, uttering words that left Wang Yu stunned.
"Li… Li Shiyi? You're only forty?" Wang Yu glanced at him up and down, sounding skeptical.
The elder's face and aura clearly suggested he was at least sixty.
"I'm definitely forty—yesterday was my fortieth birthday. As for looking older, there's another reason." The elder sighed, speaking with a touch of self-mockery.
"If you're truly forty, then I'll call you 'Brother Li.' Why do you look so aged?" Wang Yu remained doubtful.
"I'm only a dozen years older than you—calling me 'Brother Li' is fitting. As for this appearance, it's simply the price I pay for my power." Li Shiyi raised his wrinkled hands, glanced at them, then replied slowly.
"The power you mentioned—is it that ability to predict lightning strikes?" Wang Yu mused.
"It's not an ability—it's my innate talent. And it's not prediction; it's just that their attacks appear slowed down to me by a great deal." Li Shiyi replied.
"Slowed down?" Wang Yu was startled.
"Yes. I'm one of the few composite talents in China."
"One talent is tied to my naturally born double pupils—when activated, it slows everything around me by a thousand to a hundred thousand times."
"The other talent is 'Inversion'—under heavy mental strain, my hands can flip any person or animal I touch, upside down." Li Shiyi explained his two abilities frankly.
"Inversion." Wang Yu murmured the word twice.
Hearing he was a composite talent, he was first surprised; upon hearing the precise effects, his expression turned peculiar.
The first ability sounded vaguely familiar; the second sounded oddly lewd.
"Heh, want to experience my ability?" Li Shiyi asked, seeing Wang Yu's expression.
"Can I?" Wang Yu confirmed, genuinely curious.
"The first ability, 'Hyper-Pupils,' can only be felt by me—I can't demonstrate it to you. But the second, 'Inversion,' you can experience firsthand." Li Shiyi smiled, extending one palm.
"Can you even use it in such a small space?" Wang Yu glanced at the low ceiling.
"Don't worry—this ability doesn't depend on space. Just stay in your current posture." Li Shiyi winked.
"If Brother Li says so, I won't refuse." Wang Yu thought for a moment, nodded to the opposite side, then extended his own palm and gripped Li Shiyi's.
"Be careful," Li Shiyi said softly.
The next instant, Wang Yu felt the elder's palm grow slightly warm.
Then, in an instant, he spun violently—his head plunged downward, resting on the bed, his feet crossed upward, still in a cross-legged sitting posture.
He couldn't help but show a look of shock.
"Don't move—I'll restore you."
At that moment, Li Shiyi across from him spoke again.
Wang Yu felt the elder's palm grow warm once more; the scene spun again, and he was back seated cross-legged on the bed, restored to his original posture.
