Chapter 447
“Could it be that Number One has already fused with the subsystem? He’s a ‘Heavenly Person,’ an extremely rare type.” Lei Sa asked, surprised.
“What is a Heavenly Person?” Minister Li asked Lei Sa curiously.
“Minister Li should know that since age seven, humans in the future Blue Star Alliance have been implanted with personal neural-assist systems—but do you know how they’re installed?” Lei Sa countered.
“How are they installed?” Minister Li raised his eyebrows and asked.
Deputy Chairwoman Olli, hearing their conversation, also showed signs of interest.
“It uses the same brain-computer interface technology already present on Blue Star today: a small hole is drilled into the back of the skull, a special chip is implanted, then linked to a custom neural computer. After prolonged specialized training, the personal assist system becomes fully fused with the brain’s chip before adulthood and is mastered.”
“The uniqueness of this fusion lies not only in its integration with the physical body, but also in its high-dimensional fusion with spiritual power—it is irreversible and non-transferable.”
“As for Heavenly Persons, they are a special type of human who emerge during the fusion of the personal assist system.”
“These individuals require no external interface, no chip implantation—they can effortlessly load the assist system directly into their consciousness, without any learning or training, naturally fusing their spiritual power with the system from birth, automatically mastering it. Such people are called ‘Heavenly Persons.’”
“In your Han Chinese terms, it means being born with perfect compatibility with the system,” Lei Sa explained.
“Are there many such people in future Blue Star?” Deputy Chairwoman Olli asked, astonished.
“Heavenly Persons are uncommon—roughly one in a million—but when considering the entire Blue Star population, they’re not absolutely rare,” Dr. Chen interjected.
“So, Doctor, you believe Number One is a Heavenly Person, and when his consciousness entered the other world, he automatically fused with the Taiyuan subsystem inside the sleep pod, becoming someone like you who carries a system,” Deputy Chairwoman Olli turned to Dr. Chen again.
“This is merely my speculation, one possibility—there is no concrete evidence yet.”
“But even for a Heavenly Person, the system fused must be a custom neural computer. I’ve never heard of a system being directly and crudely fused from a sleep device. It’s possible the unknown energy had some influence,” Dr. Chen said thoughtfully after a pause.
“Related to that unknown energy? Could Number One have been influenced by extraterrestrial life—or even a Nebula Beast?”
“Mr. Lei Sa, didn’t you say earlier that some Nebula Beasts can directly control human thought?” Deputy Chairwoman Olli suddenly realized something, her expression turning grim.
“Chairwoman Olli, for a Nebula Beast to control human thought, it requires very specific conditions and close proximity,” Lei Sa shook his head.
“Fine, even so, that unknown energy affected the Saitan phenomenon and your base’s systems—it cannot be ruled out that it was deliberately caused by extraterrestrial life or some unknown force,” Deputy Chairwoman Olli said sternly.
“Extraterrestrial life? Unknown forces?”
“To be precise, Blue Star has only encountered three forms of extraterrestrial life so far.”
“One is the Nebula Beast, another is the Kree, and the third is the humans of the Saitan world.”
“As for unknown forces, I think only our two nations and the Ark team from the future could have caused energy to penetrate deep from space into the base,” Minister Li suddenly smiled.
“You mean I’m worrying over nothing,” the white woman said coldly, glancing at Minister Li.
“I didn’t say that. But without evidence, wild speculation could destabilize Blue Star’s overall stability,” Minister Li replied with a smile.
This time, Deputy Chairwoman Olli said nothing, only stared coldly at Dr. Chen.
Dr. Chen spoke calmly again:
“As Minister Li said, all of this is speculation without concrete evidence. The idea that Number One is a Heavenly Person who fused the system is merely one hypothesis.”
“Even if this assumption is true, as long as his self-identity hasn’t been altered or distorted—if he still recognizes himself as a Blue Star human—it’s not a bad thing. In fact, it may help him survive and gather more information in the Saitan world.”
“After all, he fused only with a subsystem of ‘Taiyuan’—a crude, temporary system created by Taiyuan specifically to complement the Zero-Type sleep pod.”
“In our original design, for safety, this subsystem had no function other than stimulating the sleeper’s brain to temporarily enhance or weaken brainwaves, allowing limited influence over the human host in the other world.”
“Of course, even the crudest system is still a subsystem of the superbrain ‘Taiyuan,’ and theoretically capable of linking to it.”
“But in practice, we did not grant any permissions to the experimental subjects—including Number One—to link with the superbrain ‘Taiyuan.’ Instead, we specifically issued ‘Taiyuan’ a command to block all connections from these subsystems.”
“Therefore, even if Number One truly fused with this crude subsystem, he cannot link to China’s superbrain ‘Taiyuan.’ And its functions are too simple to compare with a real personal assist system—even one percent of its auxiliary capability is unlikely.”
Hearing Dr. Chen’s words, Olli’s expression eased slightly.
“Number One brought back a large volume of data from the Saitan world, roughly divided into two categories. One consists of general information about that world—language, writing, flora, fauna, minerals.”
“The other category concerns everything related to the cultivators there.”
“The former has relatively little value, nearly identical to ancient Han Chinese records. The only truly valuable items are the ‘Black Tiger Breathing Method’ and the Four Beasts Diagram cultivation technique he obtained there.”
“Remember, the greatest difference between the Saitan world and Blue Star is the existence of something called ‘heavenly-earth spiritual energy.’”
“This is an invisible, air-like substance.”
“According to Number One, to become a cultivator, one must first attain ‘spiritual awakening’—the ability to sense this spiritual energy. Only then can one become a cultivator.”
“The Black Tiger Breathing Method and the Four Beasts Diagram are special techniques that require no heavenly-earth spiritual energy to practice.”
“Both can rapidly strengthen a human body several-fold, even more.”
“Since the stronger a Blue Star human’s physical condition, the more powerful the exosuit they can control, these two techniques hold significant strategic value for Blue Star.”
As Dr. Chen spoke, he waved his remote toward the machine above the round table. The projected image shifted to another video.
In the video, dozens of Chinese soldiers sat cross-legged, breathing in strange rhythms, or performing bizarre, unnatural postures as they cultivated.
The next video showed them sparring: some crawled up walls on all fours as if walking flat ground; others took a deep breath, their muscles swelling visibly, then smashed a large boulder with a single punch—each displayed near-superhuman abilities.
“Black Tiger Breathing Method, Four Beasts Diagram”
Deputy Chairwoman Olli watched the video, initially surprised, then her eyes lit up—she immediately grasped its immense value.
Lei Sa stared at the projected images, unmoved, even slightly dismissive.
Minister Li, however, wore a pained expression—as if he regretted revealing these two techniques to foreign nations.
“As for the latter—the cultivator-related data Number One brought back—that is the true priority, the key that may help us survive Blue Star’s coming catastrophe.”
“First, let me tell you this: in the Saitan world, cultivators can achieve immortality. According to Number One, they live at least two or three hundred years, some up to a thousand—or even longer.”
“Second, the cultivators there possess something called ‘spirit runes.’”
“For Blue Star today—or for the future Blue Star Alliance—it is an epoch-defining technology. This is one of the two reasons I convinced the ‘Council’ system to approve the Kai Tian Project.”
“The other reason is that Number One appears capable of multiple consciousness transferences into the Saitan world…” Dr. Chen finally revealed the core of this meeting.
Although Minister Li had long suspected these details, his expression remained grave.
Lei Sa and Deputy Chairwoman Olli both paled.
Both knew this meeting would not end anytime soon.
…
More than five or six hours later, the small room’s door finally opened.
The white woman stepped out, looking dazed. Behind her, Lei Sa emerged, his expression shifting between dark and uncertain.
Finally, Minister Li and Dr. Chen stepped out. The former looked heavy with worry, burdened by thoughts; the latter remained calm, as if nothing had happened at all.
