Chapter 453: The Third Crossing (Happy Spring Festival ^^)
In a pitch-black classroom, rows of milky-white light columns descended from above, each containing a miniature mecha model projection about a foot tall.
Wang Yu sat at the center of the classroom, intently watching a young man’s projection on a metal platform ahead.
The projected youth wore a crisp suit and half a metallic mask, holding a thick plate of armor with a honeycomb-like structure, speaking with a blank expression.
“...This ‘V-Honeycomb Overlay Armor,’ only installed on high-tier mechs, has insufficient protection against energy-based attacks and is overly heavy, but its unique structure reduces damage from long-range ballistic attacks by eighty percent, absorbs over thirty percent of close-range physical impacts, and offers minor defense against mental attacks...”
In the first layer of the nearly completed giant sphere.
Wang Yu lay inside the open lid of a massive sleep pod, eyes half-closed, his body shifting constantly through various postures as if sensing something.
Four mechanical arms extended from the pod, each ending in simulated hands indistinguishable from human ones, gently massaging his muscles at various points.
Outside the pod, indicator lights flickered as several technicians held small instruments, performing adjustments on the sleep pod.
Outside the giant sphere, another seven or eight technicians used mechanical arms to install thick, glinting gun barrels into concealed recesses on the sphere’s surface.
In the base’s single-occupancy quarters.
Wang Yu stared at a newly delivered silver metal box on the table, took a deep breath, opened it—and instantly, a freezing chill surged out.
Inside the box, barely two or three feet long, lay two rows of firmly secured crimson syringes—six per row, twelve total—and a palm-sized manual.
At each corner of the metal box sat a white metal canister, continuously emitting thin wisps of white frost mist.
“Ash Source Serum”
Wang Yu carefully removed one crimson syringe, held it before his eyes for a moment, then muttered softly before returning it to the box and picking up the manual to read carefully.
In a brightly lit small hall next to the giant sphere’s main chamber.
Chen Boshi and Wang Yu were speaking.
In the corner of the hall stood a black-clad woman with arms crossed—Mu Lan.
Suddenly, Chen Boshi clapped his hands, and a blonde woman with blue eyes entered through the door.
“It’s you.”
Wang Yu’s eyes widened as he recognized her face.
The woman was “Helena.”
Mu Lan’s gaze sharpened as it landed on the blonde woman; though she made no move, a chill settled on her face.
“One, from today, Miss Helena will join the base as a member of the security team, assigned to your protection just like Mu Lan,” Chen Boshi introduced.
“Protect me? Doctor, are you joking?” Wang Yu stared at the blonde woman, speechless.
“Do you doubt my strength, or because I’m from the British Commonwealth?” the blonde woman asked, expression unchanged.
“You’re an A-rank psychic—your strength is unquestionable. But you were hunting me not long ago. Now you suddenly say you’ll protect me? I don’t trust you.” Wang Yu spoke bluntly.
“Relax. The British Commonwealth has signed a cooperation agreement with China. Even the Deputy Chair herself has joined your Kai Tian team. What are you afraid of?” the blonde woman said coldly.
“Chairwoman Olivia of the British Commonwealth is indeed a formal member of the Kai Tian team. Stationing British personnel in base security is part of the bilateral agreement,” Chen Boshi added, backing her up.
“If it’s part of the official agreement, I have nothing to say,” Wang Yu replied, tone flat.
“With Mu Lan and Helena protecting you in the base, I can rest easier. Both of you, step out—I have important instructions for One.”
The blonde woman and Mu Lan exchanged a glance, then both nodded and left the small hall.
“One, if tomorrow’s experiment fails, you still have time to prepare. But if it succeeds and you cross over into the cultivation world, beyond the training plan given in these past classroom sessions, there are several critical matters you must pay attention to:
First, if the base makes a breakthrough in cross-dimensional communication, it will contact you immediately. You must remain alert for any signal from the base.
Second, the base will attempt an active ‘recall’ experiment to see if it can pull your consciousness back from the cultivation world to Blue Star. Success is unlikely, but the trial must be conducted.
To prevent any risk to your body in the cultivation world, standard procedure will involve preliminary signs before the official trial. If you sense any anomaly in the cultivation world, secure your body first.
Typically, between the first sign and the actual recall, you’ll have three to four days.
What form the signs take—I can’t specify—but you’ll know them the moment they appear.
Third...
Wang Yu listened quietly to Chen Boshi’s instructions, occasionally nodding, as if committing every word to memory.
At the same moment.
In a valley over a hundred li south of Xicheng, a small city in western China, over a dozen military trucks and three sedans were parked.
Hundreds of soldiers in camouflage and over a dozen scientists in varied attire were adjusting instruments installed in the valley days earlier.
Among them, an elderly man with gray hair stood before a massive device resembling radar, occasionally glancing at a tablet displaying a map of the valley and surrounding terrain.
Beside him, a middle-aged man with black-rimmed glasses intensely calibrated the radar-like device.
Suddenly, the needle on the device’s top disc began to shake violently, as if detecting something.
Simultaneously, a nearby device resembling a speaker emitted a crackling, buzzing sound.
Moments later, cheers and excited shouts erupted throughout the valley.
“Found it! Finally found it!”
“Yin energy site! This is the yin energy site!”
“Report to the base immediately—send specialized experts!”
Day Ten.
Inside the sealed giant silver sphere, the empty first level.
Wang Yu lay alone in the giant sleep pod, staring at the face of Chen Boshi displayed on the screen before him.
“One, your designation is now officially changed to ‘Pangu.’ I declare the first cross-dimensional trial of the Kai Tian Project begun. Ten, nine, eight, seven...”
As Chen Boshi’s calm voice echoed in the scene, the mechanical countdown began.
Simultaneously, white sedative gas spewed from the pod, followed by streams of clear liquid that quickly filled the entire chamber.
Wang Yu slipped into unconsciousness, and the last thought lingering in his mind before darkness took him: “This feels like my third time crossing over into the cultivation world.”
