Chapter 188: Entering the Folded Space

~6 min read 1,109 words

Before the Gilded Mystic Mirror stood many powerful figures from the Luo Sha Kingdom, each with snow-white hair and an aura so tightly contained it radiated no ripple—clearly formidable beings.

Indeed, the Luo Sha King had summoned nearly all of his kingdom's strongest warriors.

They were here solely to study how to enter the Gilded Mystic Mirror; not only was Xue Luo Sha trapped inside, but Lu Fang's identity as a Great Zhou envoy forced the Luo Sha King to proceed with extreme caution.

Lu Fang, as a special envoy, represented Great Zhou.

If he truly met with misfortune inside the Gilded Mystic Mirror, it would severely damage relations between the two nations—and possibly make things far worse.

The Luo Sha King frowned and said, "Do any of you have a way? No matter the cost, we must enter the mirror's space and rescue Xue'er and the Marquis of Wenguan."

A one-armed Luo Sha elder, who had been touching the mirror's surface, sighed and said, "Just now I tried—I can no longer sense the entrance, nor detect any abnormal energy fluctuations emanating from within the mirror's space."

"Both are gone. Even with all our methods, we cannot construct a bridge to enter."

Another Luo Sha elder, with a scarred face, agreed: "Your Majesty, under these circumstances, even Xu Han Yi, the strongest half-sage beneath Great Zhou's emperor, would be powerless. We can only wait and see—perhaps this phenomenon is merely temporary."

The Luo Sha King furrowed his brow; these two were the kingdom's two strongest warriors. If they both said this, then there truly seemed no good solution.

Inside the mirror's space.

After speaking with Xue Luo Sha, Lu Fang decided to wait in place for a while—entering the folded space within the mirror required courage.

Xue Luo Sha sighed softly and shook her head: "Marquis of Wenguan, so much time has passed—Mother could not have failed to notice. Yet no rescue has come. It must be that the Mirror Spirit has sealed the entrance."

Lu Fang gazed toward the mirror behind him; though the other side appeared clearly visible, he felt it impossibly distant.

Perhaps the Mirror Spirit felt confident that entering the folded space was absolutely safe—because the unknown disorients.

The Mirror Spirit could navigate it. Others could not.

If, as Xue Luo Sha suggested, the Mirror Spirit had sealed the entrance, it was highly likely that those outside could not enter.

Even if we assume the best—that a powerful being did enter—it might not be a good thing.

His earlier attempts had shown that the Mirror Spirit's strength was linked to the strength of those who entered this mirror realm.

The stronger the intruder, the stronger the Mirror Spirit would become.

Then it would become even more troublesome.

"I've decided."

Lu Fang said firmly: "If you don't enter the tiger's den, how can you catch the tiger's cub? It's just a folded space inside a mirror. If the Mirror Spirit can move freely, then I have nothing to fear."

"Marquis of Wenguan, you plan to enter the folded space?" Xue Luo Sha frowned, but quickly relaxed.

It was dangerous, but for now, it was the only option.

"Marquis of Wenguan, you think as I do—we must deal with the Mirror Spirit to leave. If we work together and stay cautious, the lost space isn't so terrifying."

Xue Luo Sha said with confidence.

Lu Fang shook his head: "You stay here. I'll go alone to find the Mirror Spirit. If I truly can't find it, your joining me in the lost space won't help much."

Xue Luo Sha frowned: "I'll go with you. More people mean better backup."

Lu Fang smiled gently and declined: "I have a rankless supreme treasure—a puppet teleportation substitute. It comes in two halves. You hold the secondary one; I can use the primary to teleport back to you at any time."

"Really?"

Xue Luo Sha's eyes showed doubt.

A flash of white light appeared in Lu Fang's palm, and a tiny puppet figure materialized. To convince her, he demonstrated it clearly.

Seeing the genuine teleportation puppet, Xue Luo Sha still worried: "Earlier, Mother told me that when we first entered this mirror space, we used a similar method."

"But once anyone entered the lost region, no one ever came out. Will this really work?"

Lu Fang shrugged: "I don't know if it'll work or not—but for now, it's the best option. Princess Xue, can I trust you?"

"Trust me?"

Xue Luo Sha blinked, puzzled.

Lu Fang smiled: "Yes. You hold the secondary teleportation puppet here—and that determines whether I can escape the lost space. I'm entrusting my life to you."

"During this time, the Mirror Spirit might return to confront you. You must hold your ground here. Don't underestimate your role—you're vital."

Without waiting for her reply, Lu Fang pulled out the "Small Sealing Array Flag" and handed it to her: "To ensure your safety, take this flag. It's easy to use and simple to learn."

"If the Mirror Spirit truly returns and cannot enter the Small Sealing Array, it might try to deceive you with illusions. You must hold fast to your heart—do not enter the lost space. Just wait for me to return."

Lu Fang repeated his warnings again and again—but he was lying.

He had a premonition: the teleportation puppet would fail once it entered the folded space's lost region.

But he had no other choice.

If he couldn't accomplish this alone, Xue Luo Sha's presence wouldn't help much.

Better to leave her here—if someone from outside the mirror space does enter later, she can escape safely.

As for himself, he wasn't quite so pessimistic.

If he truly couldn't handle this alone inside the folded space, he could always unleash the power of the Demon Heart. With its perception, he would surely find the Mirror Spirit.

Xue Luo Sha sighed: "If the Marquis of Wenguan says so, then I'll stay. Don't worry—I won't die. I'll hold the teleportation puppet and wait for you to return."

"Thank you."

After confirming Xue Luo Sha could activate the Small Sealing Array, Lu Fang took a deep breath and stepped resolutely into the folded space. He'd come this far—how could he not see this so-called lost space?

The moment he entered the folded space, the scene before him changed.

No!

It wasn't the space that changed—it was the mirrors hanging in midair. Their positions shifted, and some now bore color.

This was the folded space?

It didn't seem any different.

Lu Fang had expected some strange, otherworldly realm—but it was still just mirrors, only now with different colors and slightly expanded space.
