Chapter 78: Launch Day Note

It's been nearly two years since my last new book went on the shelves, and I've gotten so rusty at writing these launch notes.

As is customary, I want to thank my editor Hu Ya for the full-package editing, and to all the readers for following along, your monthly tickets, and your tip support.

The launch time is tomorrow at noon, 12:00 — there may be a small discrepancy, but only by a few minutes.

I'm a bit ashamed — my original drafts have been eaten up almost entirely by plot revisions and the New Year holiday.

So on launch day I can only manage five updates; if first-order subscriptions hit 5,000, I'll add one more, and if they hit 8,000, I'll add two more.

There's also a friend who tipped an Alliance Leader, so I'll add one more update after launch to repay that.

The Huayu (Chinese entertainment) scene is brutally competitive right now, so after launch I'll try to write as much as I can. I won't dare promise ten thousand words a day, but I won't settle for just the daily minimum of 6,000 words either.

In short, watch how I perform!

On the matter of plot, many readers have said the pacing feels a bit slow — actually, that's quite intentional.

My previous two books had the protagonist rising too fast in the early stages, and once the protagonist's standing got too high later on, there was nowhere left to take the story. So with this book I've taken those lessons to heart.

Of course, slow pacing is slow pacing, but I still have to keep some of that satisfying payoff in mind. I'm trying my best to find a balance — making the plot both steady and satisfying.

And then there's the question everyone's concerned about — the female leads.

I've said in the group chat too: roughly 3–4 fixed ones, with the rest being friendships.

But for now that's only tentative — whether it changes, I can't say. In any case, it's hardly the first or second time I've slapped myself in the face by revising my drafts.
