Chapter 883: On Sale Reflection

On Sale Reflection

Before I knew it, the book is about to go on sale; as a tiny new writer, my heart is filled with countless emotions.

Grateful for your overwhelming support—since I started writing, the recommendations have gone smoothly, and I’ve even made it to Sanjiang. Thank you.

The inspiration for this book actually came from my frustration at failing to get concert tickets (let me complain first: Li Nainai’s Huangniu Party!).

I’m a music omnivore—I listen to singers of all kinds—and it was during a chat with a friend that I got the idea to write this book.

When I first started writing, I was basically writing for myself; you can see this from the female characters I chose.

The female lead was chosen capriciously.

I’m probably the only one in Qidian’s entertainment fiction who picked her this way. Funny.

But the result turned out surprisingly decent.

When I was in elementary school, Zhou Wang Lin’s songs and the “Big Four, Two Small” were everywhere—oh wait, it should be “Big Four, Two Small”; at least I never heard Yang Chenglin’s songs back then, and SHE replaced her.

I saved money by skipping breakfast, pooled it with classmates to buy cassette tapes, then told my family I was learning English—pretending to study while actually playing the tapes to listen to songs.

Back then, the female singers I listened to most were Sun Yanzi and Xiao Yaxuan—their songs were insanely popular.

Especially Xiao Yaxuan; every time I entered the arcade near my school or passed by the pedestrian street or mall, I’d hear her “Love’s Main Theme.”

That song was so absurdly catchy that even after all these years, I still remember it vividly.

Then came middle school. I listened less to Zhou Wang Lin and started listening to Xu Song, Xu Liang, Wang Sulu, Ben Xi, and others.

Back then, over 70% of the songs in internet cafes were by these four, followed by Zhou Wang Lin, then Zheng Yuan, Liu Zhe, and others. The school’s public address system mostly cycled through songs by Xu, Xu, Wang, plus Zhou Wang Lin and the “Big Four, Two Small.”

The original intent behind writing this book was essentially to reminisce about childhood. Funny.

Every time I pick a song and the music plays, I feel like I’ve returned to my carefree childhood, when all I cared about was how to avoid doing homework.

At first, I didn’t plan to set the story in the early 2000s—I originally wanted to write about the era of the “Three Internet Giants,” with the protagonist forming the “Four Internet Kings.”

The promotional slogan would’ve been: “The New Four Kings, the Man Who Ended the Zhou Wang Lin Era.”

But when I looked up popular female singers and actresses from 2010 onward, emmm…

None of the female singers appealed to me; as for actresses, I’m fond of many, but too many writers have already covered those four.

Then I happened to see photos of Chen Hao teaching at the Central Academy of Drama or leading students in military training—she was stunning—and suddenly I remembered this childhood goddess from my memory—

I slapped my thigh: Perfect! I’ll write about the millennium era!

For my own personal preference, I added Sun Yanzi as well.

Then, after some research, I found this Yebucuo , thought that one was fine too, so I settled on a Hua Zongze-like playboy and sea king personality.

With that, the book’s framework was set, and I rolled up my sleeves and got to work.

Due to work, I rarely have time to write much; and because my typing speed is too slow, I can’t become a typing machine that writes ten thousand words in a few hours.

It’s really frustrating.

Since the book is going on sale, I know the tradition is to burst with updates, so I specifically took a day off from my Mid-Autumn Festival holiday. Tomorrow, I’ll stay home and write hard, aiming to produce four chapters for release.

After the book goes on sale, I’ll post three or four updates every Sunday when I rest, and at least two updates on regular weekdays.

Because I’ll be traveling for work during National Day, my holiday starts on the 6th.

So for me, the National Day holiday is October 6–9, meaning the bonus updates will begin on October 6.

Yeah, that’s about it.

Then, see you tomorrow night at 9:30~
