Chapter 110: Total Loss of Power

~7 min read 1,294 words

"Have you thought of a name for the child?" Audrey asked again.

Brian replied, "If it's a boy, we'll call him William. If it's a girl, then Jane."

"Mm, truly beautiful names." She handed the photo back to Brian.

The man who took it looked at his wife in the photo and smiled sweetly. But on his lips, he retorted, "What about you, kid?"

Henry raised both hands in a gesture of surrender, saying, "I'm currently seeking a girlfriend." Then he turned to the other three and asked, "What about you guys, tough guys?"

Sam and Mark clinked glasses, holding them high and shouting, "Cheers to being single!"

Old Bernie, however, raised his glass and said, "Divorced! Thank goodness. As long as I transfer the alimony to her account on time every month, I don't have to see her face."

"Kid, I warn you, never get married. It will make you feel like you're dead, living in hell. Being shot and hospitalized wouldn't be that painful."

Lady He Ben, of course, couldn't stand such remarks. She fiercely slapped Henry on the shoulder and said, "Don't listen to him, child. You must know that the most wonderful thing in this world is cuddling with your loved one and watching your children grow up."

"If you don't get married and have children, you won't experience these wonderful things. Then isn't your life incomplete? That would be a waste of God creating men and also creating women."

In short, Henry's right ear listened to Audrey nagging about motherhood, while his left ear heard the four soldiers arguing amongst themselves about marriage. Fortunately, the guns thrown on the aisle were all empty, otherwise this group would have picked them up and fought each other.

Suddenly, the plane tilted sharply into a turn, breaking the lively atmosphere. Brian said thoughtfully, "This is a turn towards the Gulf of Aden." Saying this, he got up to go to the cockpit and ask the captain.

When Brian returned, he told everyone the answer. "We are now going through the Gulf of Aden and entering the Red Sea. Afterwards, we will turn towards southern Saudi Arabia. There is a US military base that has already been urgently setting up runway guide lights for us."

"Can we make it there?" Old Bernie, the oldest of the four, was the one responsible for voicing dissenting opinions or ideas. At this moment, he was faithfully fulfilling his duty, questioning Brian.

"We can." After Brian spoke, he nodded heavily and said, "We must be able to!"

Now Henry didn't even try to think about how to liven up the atmosphere. The cabin directly turned into a mourning atmosphere. The fact that this group didn't lose control, cause chaos, shout curses, or point fingers wildly was already a very civilized and extremely self-controlled display.

Lady He Ben once again tightly grabbed Henry's hand. She certainly couldn't hurt a Kryptonian, but the emotion this time was undoubtedly even more tense.

Responding to this emotion, Henry placed his other hand on top, gently patted it, and said, "Don't worry, I'm here."

Returning a somewhat forced bitter smile, Audrey said no more.

Perhaps she just thought that this child, with an invulnerable body of steel, was useless at such a time. Henry guessed as much.

As for the fact that he could fly, if it didn't need to be exposed, it shouldn't be. Exposing it early had no meaning; the plane wasn't doomed, it just looked a bit difficult right now.

So most people still pinned their hopes on that experienced captain.

Just as the second major tilt and turn happened, everyone thought, this must be turning into Saudi airspace.

However, this turn didn't take long, and it quickly straightened out. Then the sound of the remaining engines stopped, the normal lighting in the cabin went out, leaving only emergency lighting providing dim light.

Actually, modern passenger planes are equipped with ram air turbines. After the engines fail, they automatically deploy from the fuselage. Relying on the airflow to generate electricity, they maintain the normal operation of necessary equipment on board.

At this time, Brian spoke again, saying, "Everyone, don't worry. It's just that two engines have failed. As long as we don't perform overload operations, we won't immediately crash to the ground."

"Based on the experience of Air Canada Flight 143 in '83, we can treat the passenger plane as a glider to maintain its flight attitude in the air. We just need to arrive at the airport just before descending and touching down."

After speaking, Brian stood up again and said, "I'll go talk to the captain."

The few veteran soldiers said nothing; Lady He Ben just kept grabbing Henry's hand.

And the Kryptonian also noticed that the flight attendant girl had already drunk all the remaining alcoholic beverages, drinking herself into a dead drunk.

Now the person was fixed to the seat with a safety belt, her head hanging to one side. It looked extremely unprofessional, but no one would blame her.

Henry also heard the captain complaining in a low voice about insufficient turning and too fast a descent rate. Regarding whether they could fly to the US military base, his attitude was extremely pessimistic.

The other three soldiers who had been silent for a long time also seemed to be on the verge of exploding. As long as any bad news entered their ears, it would probably be a man-made disaster.

Henry couldn't help but recall the entire incident from when it happened until now. Was there any link where earlier intervention could have made things handled more steadily? Without so much exposure, could the group have safely returned?

To avoid exposing himself, he had indulged that group of niggers chasing his butt and shooting.

Although he successfully shook them off and also prevented them from stopping the plane from taking off, who knew that in the end, that venting-style machine-gun fire would happen to hit the plane's fuel tank, causing most of the fuel to leak out.

This truly fulfilled that saying: "Building a mountain nine thousand ren high, but failing at the last basket."

Now Henry fully experienced a feeling: that of showing off and turning into an idiot.

Patting Lady He Ben, who was holding him tightly, Henry unfastened his safety belt, stood up, and said, "Everyone, please listen to me for a moment."

Except for the flight attendant who was drunk into unconsciousness, everyone else looked at Henry under the dim light. Even Brian came out from the cockpit to look at the person speaking.

Henry said, "I have a secret, and I hope everyone will help keep it. Because this relates to what I am about to do."

Sam, the most impatient, jumped up and shouted, "We are all going to die; does it matter whether we keep it secret or not?"

"Don't get angry, tough guy. It's precisely because everyone can survive that I am asking you to keep it secret. You wouldn't think I'm taking this opportunity to treat you like a priest in confession, telling you my secret, would you?"

"Henry, regarding secrets that should be kept, we know how to shut our mouths. Go ahead and say it." Brian, who was the most sensitive, understood the little assistant's hint and promised.

Wearing a confident smile, Henry said, "It's too troublesome to explain; you will naturally see it. Now listen to my command: everyone sit back in your seats and use your safety belts to fix yourselves firmly."

"In a moment, the cabin will depressurize; you must ensure you aren't sucked out. Then Brian, I need your help. But you must first find a rope, a rope that can fix you in place."
