Chapter 123: The Pride of a Scientific Big Shot
Henry, who had been happily eating a muffin, had to wipe his hands and snatch the microphone from Tony, who was fiddling with it blindly.
He said, "This thing is in use. I don't want you transmitting all sorts of chaotic noises into a lady's ears. If you want to play, I'll give it to you another day, be good. Or just go home and make one yourself."
Tony Stark's capabilities knew no limits; there was nothing he couldn't do. Even if he couldn't do it temporarily, spending some time researching would solve the problem.
So Henry had no doubt that this simple bone conduction and Bluetooth technology posed a trouble for this guy. As for the earphones and microphone, those were even less of an issue.
"This isn't traditional radio signal technology. And there's the battery issue. Even if it's a small mercury battery, there should be a cover for changing it. Could it be that yours is disposable?" Tony asked.
"This is a wireless communication technology standard based on Bluetooth, for small-range use, probably with a shorter distance than a walkie-talkie. As for the battery, it's a lithium battery, rechargeable and reusable."
"Bluetooth? I remember that technology wasn't released until '89? Can this thing actually work?"
As expected of a scientific big shot. One could joke about historical issues with him, but in the field of technology, he would know the origin the moment he heard it.
Henry admitted frankly, "It's a laboratory-level gadget. If you only make one or two, what difficulty is there?"
This statement was a consensus in the scientific community.
Just like fusion technology; those who don't know think it's impossibly high-end. In reality, if you get a middle school student with physics knowledge to follow existing papers, they can reproduce the fusion experiment results too.
But to achieve the commercial operation of fusion power generation, the high power generation costs that cannot produce positive economic benefits are the real hurdle for commercializing this technology.
Having learned the research direction, Tony no longer felt any interest in the small thing in Henry's hand. As long as he was willing, he could certainly produce a smaller, better finished product without much difficulty.
So he answered the initial question, saying, "I heard you will attend these banquets. I came to find you."
These words sounded so flirty that they startled Henry, the Kryptonian, making him suspiciously check his own appearance.
Then he looked up and said, "I'm not wearing a skirt, am I? If you, Young Master, want to hunt for romance, you shouldn't go looking for those socialites and heiresses. Don't you fear tomorrow's newspapers will carry news like 'Tony Stark is a homosexual'?"
"Fuck! Shut your stinking mouth. I just have some things I want to ask you. Even if you polish your own ass as bright as a mirror, I won't be interested."
"Oh, so you like girls like this. With a grindstone as bright as a mirror." Henry lecherously gestured with both hands.
"Shut up, I just want to ask if you know the Continental Hotel." Tony, restraining himself from punching the other guy, voiced his question.
The reason he didn't beat the other guy was that Tony still remembered the other guy couldn't even be damaged by bullets; what use were his fists?
"Oh, the Continental Hotel. The address is 2077 Manorway Street, District 23, Special Zone, Lower Manhattan, New York City. If you want to find the hotel manager, he is right over there; his name is Winston Scott."
Following the direction Henry pointed, Tony saw a middle-aged white man wearing a sharp gray suit, very stylish.
He had typical Italian features, deep contours, and dark hair. Even in silence, that extremely charming face seemed to carry its own fascinating stories, drawing people to explore it involuntarily.
However, since Henry gave the answer so easily, the dissatisfied Young Master cursed "Fuck" again and said, "Do you know how much time I spent looking for related clues?"
"You only stay in the stratosphere, of course you can't feel the climate changes in the troposphere. If you want to truly recognize this world, come down from the sky, Young Master. Staying in the sky, you will only see the people in your own circle, and the ignorance and stupidity they display."
"After coming down, can I see more things?" Tony said disdainfully.
Henry laughed, "Of course you can. Your daily life drama will add options for absurdity and self-destruction. Isn't that interesting?"
No one can stop a fun-seeker from finding fun in daily life!
Gradually realizing the malicious components in this man's personality, Tony didn't intend to probe deeper. He asked, "How did you find the clue to the Continental Hotel?"
Henry answered, "Because Miss He Ben comes to New York from time to time. Besides reporting to UNICEF, she attends some fundraising banquets. She has no house here and stays in hotels, inns, or lodges. So I spent some time investigating.
"The Continental Hotel is very special; it is famous within a certain circle, but people who mention it speak very obscurely. So I went specifically to look for it.
"What surprised me was that even though most hotels leave reserved VIP rooms for famous people like Miss He Ben to check in anytime, the Continental Hotel politely refused my reservation request in the lady's name.
"Their manager, that Mr. Scott, said the Continental Hotel is a membership-only hotel and is also unsuitable for receiving famous people like the lady.
"If we have needs, he can refer us to other hotels for us, with discounted prices or upgraded room types. But why do you want to find the Continental Hotel?
"Stark Industries' headquarters is right here in New York. You, Young Master, shouldn't have nowhere to stay and need to go stay in a hotel. Did your father kick you out of the house?"
"Fuck! Don't talk about that. If we can't even be friends, then fine."
"Oh, Young Master considers me a friend. I am truly honored."
Did Tony Stark really forget the decisive farewell words Henry had spoken before?
How could that be possible!
It's not like children breaking up, cutting ties completely and then not speaking, turning their heads and running away upon seeing each other. Even if others bring it up, they would show expressions of disgust or displeasure.
In the workplace and business world, there is still so-called socializing. Meeting someone you hate, as long as they don't step on your bottom line, who doesn't politely give them a good face?
Speak human language to humans, speak ghost language to ghosts; without this skill, don't try to survive in this circle.
Moreover, isn't the rich people's standard for friendship just dividing into useful or useless? Otherwise, there wouldn't be the saying 'There are no eternal enemies, nor eternal allies.'
Tony Stark had news he wanted to know, so he came, saw the person, and asked. And for such irrelevant information, Henry said it and that was it.
This is the adult attitude towards socializing; before interests are involved, it is all fake affection and acting.
But since this is just idle chat, Henry was somewhat curious. He said, "You haven't told me yet, what do you want to do with the Continental Hotel? Could it be you want to buy this hotel! I haven't found out who the parent company behind the Continental Hotel is.
"Not to mention the issue of whether they are listed or not. If you want to acquire it, my energy isn't enough; I would need Young Master to personally scout the way for it to be possible."
The Kryptonian, still pretending to be unaware, said offhandedly.
