Chapter 226: Adopting a Pet

~7 min read 1,374 words

"If no one wants it, I'll raise it."

One stone stirs a thousand waves! Everyone gathering here is naturally because they rarely see tiger cubs; out of curiosity, they just came to look.

But who, as a normal person, would want to raise a tiger in their own home?

The most famous tiger owner was the former heavyweight boxing champion Tyson, and the most commonly heard group of tiger owners are the wealthy tycoons of the Middle East.

As the group of Hollywood stars most enthusiastic about death-seeking activities, not many dare to raise such a fierce beast in their own homes. Do they really think they aren't afraid of getting high one day and stroking a tiger's whiskers, only to be chewed up by the tiger as a snack?

So upon hearing someone say they would raise it, everyone turned their heads to look, wanting to see which brave soul was so bold.

The speaker was none other than one of the Continental Hotel's servants, Henry Brown.

"Can you handle it?" Muni Fisher asked instinctively.

Henry walked forward while smiling and said, "At least I'm not afraid of being bitten." Saying this, he reached his hand into the cage, trying to touch this little tiger.

For a tiger that has already been weaned, the teeth have naturally grown in, which is the only way to eat meat.

Since it was caught, although it hasn't starved to death, it has never been full. So seeing something moving enter the cage's range, it instinctively bit down!

Whether Kryptonian flesh tastes good, the little tiger never got to know, because it couldn't chew through it. Even with left-grinding and right-tearing, it could only grind its teeth like gnawing on an iron bar.

Henry was completely unconcerned and played with the little tiger using his hands. One moment rubbing the tiger's head, then getting bitten; another moment scratching its chin, then getting bitten again; and yet another moment pulling the tiger's whiskers, fulfilling a childhood dream, only to be bitten again without surprise.

Seeing Henry having fun, as if the little tiger's teeth were on the same level as a nursing kitten, a bold person reached their hand into the cage from the other side and stroked the little tiger's waist just like petting a cat.

Who knew the little tiger sensed the new demonic hand attacking, turned around, and bit!

This time it actually got a bite, and the person bitten screamed in pain.

Actually, Henry wanted to continue watching the show, but if a predatory animal like it ever tasted human flesh, it couldn't be kept.

It's not that human flesh is so delicious that the tiger would remember it forever.

It's just that after it tastes human flesh, 'humans' would be added as an item on the tiger's mental menu. As long as it gets hungry, it will naturally hunt nearby those edible 'foods'.

This isn't a case where feeding the tiger full solves everything. As long as, in the tiger's cognition, the threat ranking of humans falls within the 'edible' range, then when such a weak animal provokes, the tiger might kill for reasons other than hunger.

For instance, a male tiger will kill non-biological cubs just to mate with the female tiger. This precisely proves that tigers can generate aggressive behavior for reasons other than hunger.

And humans, who have long been civilized, detached from savagery for ages, and love death-seeking, will they realize that some of their behaviors are actually a provocation to a tiger?

Including the behavior of running away with one's back to a fierce beast, it is simply like explicitly stating 'I fear you, please do not come to eat me'. If a tiger doesn't chase such a person, it would be ashamed of its own nature.

So the best method is to not let this orphaned cub taste human flesh.

Having understood this, Henry put his hands into the cage, pried open the tiger's mouth, and allowed that unlucky person who was bitten to pull their hand out.

Fortunately, this tiger had only been weaned not long ago and wasn't very accustomed to eating meat, let alone meat that struggles.

So that lucky fellow who could pull his hand out only had clear tooth marks and slight bleeding on his hand. Neither was a chunk of flesh bitten off, nor were muscles and tendons injured.

He made a sorrowful face while shaking his hand, while others watched and laughed. But besides enjoying a good show, everyone understood one thing: do not treat this little tiger as a cat; its bites hurt too. After it grows up... that would be terrible.

Then everyone remembered another thing: what was this man's reliance for daring to raise a tiger? Wasn't it relying on his body that bullets couldn't break? This truly isn't something others can compete with.

The little tiger's cage wasn't locked; it was just a horizontal latch hooked shut. Henry didn't overthink it, opened the cage door, and grabbed this mischievous little creature out.

Based on the weight in hand, this little tiger was about thirteen kilograms; its fur condition was good, with no obvious external injuries.

Although it struggled, it looked weak and listless. It seems it was starved by the poachers who ran away, which is why it instinctively bit down on anything approaching. It was simply wanting to eat.

Let alone holding it in one's arms, this little tiger in a state of hunger-induced dizziness. Even if its own father and mother came together, Henry wouldn't have put them in his eyes. He just stroked this struggling little tiger like petting a cat.

In a moment, as if it sensed the gap in power levels, the giving-up little tiger stopped struggling and moving wildly. Instead, its four legs hung naturally, lying on Henry's arm, looking utterly hopeless. Occasionally, it licked its own nose with its tongue.

Henry stroked it while saying, "Little one, you must be hungry. I'll give you something delicious in a moment."

Saying this, he looked at Muni Fisher, the hotel manager who could make the decision. Henry asked, "Ms. Fisher, can you give it to me? Or do you have other uses for it?"

"What use could I possibly have for it? I certainly can't throw it in the kitchen and tell them to serve a roasted milk tiger."

Although Muni Fisher didn't want to give the Continental Hotel's property away to Bai Bai, she also feared that if she set a price, this man would back down, and then this tiger would be left in her hands.

This person does things without any haggling or price negotiation, which is particularly annoying. Telling others to kill it is also simple; for Muni, it's just a matter of giving an order. However...

Whether out of sympathy for the cub or the thought of winning over this man, Muni Fisher finally said, "Letting you have this tiger isn't impossible. But don't expect me to help pay for its food."

Receiving a positive reply, Henry was overjoyed and rubbed the tiger's head, saying, "Kitty, that's great, the Lady agreed. You're coming home with me."

Hearing this freshly coined name, Muni Fisher was speechless. She said, "You've already named it, what fast action. I must warn you first: if you don't want to raise it anymore, you must handle it yourself. Do not throw it back to me."

"Rest assured, I am very responsible." A tiger is full of treasures; how could Henry bear to give it to others?

Since it was raised by his own family, after it dies of natural causes, how to utilize it, others can't control, right? It's not like it was deliberately bought to be killed.

Thinking of this, Henry suddenly remembered a question. He held the cub's body with both hands near the forelimbs, flipped its belly towards himself, and looked closely. "Oh, my Kitty is actually male."

There was no intention to change the name. On the other hand, Henry was thinking.

"Great, the tiger whip is secured."

The little tiger in his hand suddenly shivered violently. Not even grown up yet, and already coveted by a Kryptonian two-legged beast; what should be done?
