Chapter 87: The Genius Who Acted Like an Idiot

~7 min read 1,258 words

"Wah!" Catherine exclaimed first, "Little Henry, you're not afraid of bullets, is that true?"

"Well, I have to say it hurts, but they can't penetrate." Henry lied a little here.

It was impossible for it to hurt; the slight indentation on his palm earlier and the action of being pushed back were both part of the act. Henry didn't want to appear too monstrous in others' eyes.

"Wait!" Tony Stark, shouting loudly, stopped others from speaking. He looked down, thinking seriously, and said, "Let me think first."

"Hmm... is there anything to think about?" Henry didn't understand.

"So, when the shootout happened earlier, you were actually like someone wearing a completely airtight bulletproof vest following behind me. Then I stupidly thought you needed care, so I stood in front of you, blocking many dangers for you. Is that what you mean?"

Henry shrugged, his expression provoking as he said, "Mr. Tony Stark, I think I advised you not to get involved in the shootout, just find a place to hide, right?"

"As for what happened afterwards, why can't you understand it as me blocking bullets that might have come from behind? Although being ambushed from behind has never happened."

Tony stood up, his tone growing more and more excited as he said, "So, I was like a bare-assed guy, holding a gun and trading fire with a group of professional killers. And you could have just walked straight up to them and beaten them down one by one. Is that what you mean?"

Henry answered seriously, "That kind of thing is impossible. Because any normal person, as soon as they see an opponent can be immune to their weapons and is walking towards them, as long as their brain isn't broken, they would know to hide first."

A certain Kryptonian avoided the issue of beating people up.

"So!" Tony Stark excitedly pounded the table, saying, "What I did risking my life was, for you, just like entering a paintball field to play a survival game."

"Hmm, Mr., if you want to make that comparison, it's actually not wrong. I just think you can calm down a bit to think about the problem."

"How can I calm down! You never said this kind of thing before. If you had said it, I would definitely have other solutions. Instead of being like an idiot, foolishly rushing up to trade fire with others." Tony was about to explode.

"This kind of thing..." Henry widened his eyes, his face full of disbelief as he said, "Who would hang it on their lips all day, afraid others wouldn't know?"

"Do you expect that when we first meet, my self-introduction would be: Hi, hello. I am Henry Brown, an alien from Krypton. I can fly and drill through the earth, shoot sparks from my eyes, blow storms from my mouth, and am invulnerable to knives and guns, fire and water."

"If I said that, ninety percent of people would think I'm crazy, and the rest would think I'm joking. Because how would I prove those things?"

"Didn't you prove it today!" Tony said excitedly.

"That's because it was an interview. I had to provide evidence to prove I was suitable for the job of driver and bodyguard, so I did this kind of thing. Otherwise, do I have to shoot myself in front of every new friend I meet to show others? Even a crazy person wouldn't do that."

"But you could just say it! Whether people believe it or not is their problem."

"Oh, then Mr. Stark, would you tell everyone: Hello, I am Tony Stark. My father is Howard Stark, Stark Industries is my family's business. Now I am studying at Caltech, a genius..."

"Wait!" Tony interrupted Henry, saying, "I studied electrical engineering at MIT at fourteen, and eventually obtained a PhD in engineering physics."

"I was on vacation at Caltech, and also pursuing a PhD in aerospace engineering. The genius part is correct, but I'm not just an ordinary Caltech student."

"Yeah, yeah." Henry rolled his eyes upwards, hands supporting the sky, and said, "Then would you show off these things to everyone? Afraid others wouldn't know, saying it every time you see someone?"

"Of course I wouldn't do that thing of showing off feathers like a peacock. And I want to emphasize, although my surname is Stark, since I was twelve, I haven't asked my family for money. Including tuition, I paid for everything with my own patent income."

"Yeah, why do you think what you wouldn't do, I have to hang on my lips every day? Young Master Stark."

Whether it was because Henry's tone was too chilling or not, Tony's anger directly changed direction, emphasizing himself again, "I already said, call me Tony. I have no other relationship with the other Mr. Stark except for blood ties."

"Hehe." Henry looked around the big house, at Tony's outfit worth at least five figures, and the French meal on the table where dessert had already started, and couldn't help retorting:

"Your genius brain wouldn't think that only taking the money handed over by parents with one hand counts as taking money from home. Besides inheriting Stark Industries, everything else counts as starting from scratch, right? Is everything here obtained by your own efforts?"

Tony paused, his tone weakening, saying, "Having a house to live in, clothes to wear, food to eat, isn't that a very normal thing? If I even refuse these, wouldn't I be too pretentious?"

"Hehe, yeah." Henry said no more. If he continued, it would seem like he was criticizing people.

"Wait! I'm dizzy from your anger. What you just said, is it true? Those aliens and such." Tony seemed to wake up, pulling the topic back to Henry.

Henry slapped his own forehead with a big palm, saying, "Oh, my god, Tony, can't you distinguish truth from lies? If I said I could break dimensional boundaries with one punch, and run through worlds. Would you believe it or not?"

Hearing Henry's incredible description, Tony of course didn't believe it. However, the fact that his body could block bullets had just been confirmed with his own eyes. He thought for a moment and said, "So, at that time, you actually had a chance to save Josh Hilton. Right?"

"No, I had no chance."

It was impossible to admit he could save him even if beaten to death. Besides, I just didn't want to save him, so what?

"How is that possible? Clearly you're not afraid of bullets, you could have blocked a shot for that fat guy. You wouldn't ignore an innocent person being shot dead because of a personal grudge, would you?"

Henry said, "Whether that fat guy is innocent or not, I'm not a judge, I can't determine it. And if I wanted to save someone, I would have to run over first."

"Then, before the gunmen fired, stand in front of that fat guy whose area is bigger than mine. Do you think the group of gunmen that appeared at the end would shift their attention because of my action, giving me a chance to save someone?"

Considering the flower bed where they were hiding at the time, and the crowd controlled by the gunmen, unless there was super speed, it was indeed impossible to save anyone.

But Tony said dissatisfied, "But you didn't even try."

"Doing something futile when you know it can't be done is the act of a saint. I'm just an ordinary person with special abilities."
