Chapter 84: Seeking Help
Even if you don't go looking for trouble, trouble will find you on its own.
Henry, who was squatting and tidying up the flower bed, had his face covered in dirt by a certain dog digging the ground.
Audrey Hepburn laughed maliciously on the side, with no intention of stopping her dog’s actions.
Henry was thinking about how to describe the delicious taste of dog meat hot pot in French. Tonight, he would persuade the two old people to have a nourishing meal. If any Chinese medicinal herbs were missing, he would fly to buy them!
Just as he was about to fire a heat vision at that raised dog butt, the maid who was cleaning inside the house shouted in French: "Henry, there is a call for you."
"A call? Who is it?" Henry asked. Because basically, no one would call Ms. Hepburn’s house and specifically ask for him; usually, they were looking for Robert or directly for the lady herself.
The maid said: "I don't know who it is. He keeps speaking English, and I don't understand it. I only heard 'Henry, Henry.' You speak English, you go listen."
People who think English is an international language can go to Europe and walk around; the chance of hitting a wall is very high. However, now is not the time to complain; Henry hurriedly stood up, brushed the dirt off his body, and said: "Coming right away."
Perhaps the other party is looking for him, the little assistant, to arrange the lady’s schedule. This was often encountered when in New York; people who wanted to invite Audrey Hepburn would usually find him first to confirm the lady’s schedule before making an invitation.
So Henry nodded to the lady who was still tidying up the flower bed, then jogged into the house and came to the phone to pick it up. He said in English: "This is Henry, who is calling?"
A female voice came from the phone, saying: "This is Raven. Um, Mystique of the X-Men."
"Click!" Henry hung up the phone with the fastest speed that wouldn't break the phone.
Audrey Hepburn, who entered the door a step slower, was taking off her gardening gloves and asked: "Henry, who was it?"
"Wrong number."
Henry had just answered when the phone rang again. Ms. Hepburn cast a blaming look, clearly feeling that this was not a simple "wrong number." Henry could only hang up the phone again in a sullen manner.
Before the receiver was even close to his ear, he heard the person on the other side cursing: "Motherfucker, you damn alien, if you dare hang up my fucking phone again, I will..."
"Click!" Henry hung up the phone again with the same lightning speed.
Although he didn't know if Ms. Hepburn had heard the content clearly, Henry just made an expression and said: "The person on the other side has a bit of a temper; wait for them to calm down before talking."
"Um, I think if you keep hanging up on people like this, the person on the other side won't be able to calm down," Ms. Hepburn said fairly.
However, she was also certain that the call should have nothing to do with official business. Otherwise, this little assistant wouldn't have such an attitude.
Then the phone rang again.
Henry looked at the ringing phone with utter disgust, thinking about whether to smash it with a punch first. Audrey Hepburn, however, had a look of watching a good show, her eyes looking at the phone and then winking at Henry.
Helplessly, Henry could only pick up the phone and say first: "Speak calmly, otherwise I will hang up again."
"I am very calm now, I am fucking too calm, so I don't want to fly to Switzerland right now to beat you to death."
"Calm down, ma'am. I thought the little misunderstanding between us had already been settled before. The best way to get along is to never contact each other again. Now that you’ve called my boss’s house, it puts me in a very difficult position."
Audrey Hepburn’s mouth formed a circle, making a look of sudden realization on the side. Could it be that she thought this was some kind of romantic debt?
Well, the content of his own speech did indeed have the suspicion of being misleading. But it was better than bringing the trouble of mutants into the lady’s life.
"Misunderstanding! If you mean the misunderstanding that you wiped out the X-Men, do you think there will be a day when it’s settled?" The voice on the phone shouted at the top of her lungs.
"Hey, hey, hey, speak properly. I didn't wipe out anyone, no one died, I was very gentle."
"Very gentle." Ms. Hepburn didn't make a sound, just mouthed the words. Then she walked past Henry, with a motherly smile, her eyes quite playful, and walked into the kitchen.
Henry, who was hit by a few looks and expressions from the Oscar-winning actress to the point of feeling he had fallen into the abyss of social death, suddenly felt whether he should really just wipe out the X-Men.
Let the world explode!
The voice on the phone said dissatisfiedly: "If you want to settle it, come and help me now. I will look at your performance to decide whether to let you off."
"Hey, big sister, is there a mistake? Our relationship isn't good enough for that, and I don't owe you that much, so there’s no reason for me to be at your beck and call. Ah, no, that’s not right, there’s no reason that just because you called, I must arrive."
"Am I reasoning with you? Do I need to reason with you? Are you crazy? Why do you think I reason?"
Suddenly feeling that what the other party said made so much sense, what should he do?
Henry felt inexplicably panicked. Especially seeing Audrey Hepburn secretly poking her head out from the kitchen, that self-deceiving action made Henry feel it was better to just kill a few X-Men.
Mystique on the phone said again: "In any case, you were right before; we really have a problem here. So I need your help."
Henry was full of helplessness and said: "I’m used to talking nonsense, where was I right? Ah, no, sister, you guys have a problem, solve it yourselves."
"Aren't the X-Men quite majestic? They just solved the solar flare in outer space. By the way, let me ask, who wrote that PR copy? To make so many astrophysicists shut up, a lot of PR fees must have been spent, right?"
Mystique said: "It’s precisely because the X-Men have a problem, and there are some people I don't trust, so I need combat support outside the X-Men. Besides, many of the things you said before were right. You must also explain to me properly what you know."
"I..."
Henry, who still wanted to continue to push back, was interrupted. Mystique grabbed the conversation and said: "You owe me, at least I didn't mobilize the X-Men to settle scores with you. If you don't come over, you should know the consequences."
Threatened, Henry gave up reasoning with women. He said helplessly: "You at least have to let me know where to find you. Or do you really want to come to Switzerland to pick me up?"
"We are on the plane, and we are currently heading to..."
"Click!" Hanging up the phone for the third time, Henry vented a little, and his mood eased a bit.
"Are you going out?" Ms. Hepburn, who walked out of the kitchen, asked.
"In short, a troublesome person caused trouble and wants to trouble me to help them solve the trouble. This is really troublesome," Henry said with extreme reluctance.
"Do you want me to save dinner for you?"
"I don't think so, I'll solve it outside. I don't know how late they will be."
"Shall I call a car for you?"
"No need, it’s too late to take a car. I’ll find a way myself."
Audrey Hepburn finally said: "Child, be careful in everything."
