Chapter 373, Dog Food on the Ice Rink (First Update)

~7 min read 1,334 words

The air carried a hint of coolness, and the ice was marked with scratches of varying depths.

The man gliding at the very front, a towering figure like a soaring eagle, moved with light and agile steps.

Li Mochan looked back at the woman chasing after him and broke into a bright smile, teasingly boasting, "Little Wolf Cub, want to admit defeat?"

"Not a chance." Ye Jiuliang huffed with annoyance, her scarf around her neck slipping down occasionally, so she simply pulled it off.

Her gaze darted to the figure ahead of her and with a spark in her eyes, she challenged, "Mohan, watch out."

Li Mochan turned around just as a light grey scarf flew straight at him; he lifted his hand to block it and his well-defined hand conveniently grabbed one end of the scarf.

A triumphant smile flickered in Ye Jiuliang’s eyes as she pulled back on the scarf.

Playful Jiuliang came online, and Li Mochan’s lips curled indulgently.

"Heh heh."

A helpless chuckle spilled from his lips.

Going with her momentum, Li Mochan slid towards her as effortlessly as a falling leaf.

"You little rascal, always playing tricks." Li Mochan circled around her while casually winding the scarf he held around her porcelain neck.

Almost at the same time, Ye Jiuliang also wound her scarf around his neck as he did.

Their synchronized motions were simply too in sync.

Owning each end of the scarf, Ye Jiuliang snickered out loud.

"Come on, you two are still showing off your love here? This is simply unacceptable." Feng Yi, who had caught up, skated past them, successfully overtaking both.

"Don’t mind them, the loser pays for dinner," Ji Mingqian, running ahead of Feng Yi, joked.

"Ajiu, just wait to lose."

The arrogant tone immediately ignited Ye Jiuliang’s competitive spirit.

She spun and skated, leaving shallow marks on the ice with her roller skates.

Forgetting she still had the scarf around her neck, she made an exaggerated move, lost her balance, and fell sideways.

Li Mochan’s dark eyes tightened as his strong arm wrapped around her waist.

"Bang——"

The dull sound reverberated painfully.

Without the expected pain, Ye Jiuliang opened her eyes, rolled over, and looked at the man who had cushioned her fall with concern.

"Mohan, are you okay?" She raised her hand to pull at the scarf around her neck.

"Nearly got an internal injury from you slamming into me," Li Mochan tugged at his lips, not in a hurry to get up.

"Nonsense, I’m not that heavy." Ye Jiuliang patted his chest and glanced over to see Ji Mingqian and the others almost at the finish line, deciding not to rush after them.

Trying to turn the tables now would be too late anyway.

"Look, it’s all bruised." Li Mochan rolled up his sleeve and extended his left hand in front of her, his deep voice tinged with amusement.

"Shouldn’t you compensate me for this, hmm?"

Ye Jiuliang looked down to see a bruise tinged with red on his elbow, probably from protecting her during the fall.

She pursed her lips, reached out, and pressed on the bruised spot, "Does it hurt?"

"It hurts." Li Mochan pulled her hand to his chest, his deep eyes warm with a smile.

Any smidgen of guilt she had just felt instantly evaporated.

Ye Jiuliang rolled her eyes at him with annoyance, "Your arm is bruised, why are you holding your heart?"

"You’re so heavy, it caused me internal damage."

His humorous words succeeded in ruffling Ye Jiuliang’s feathers.

Implying she was fat was something she couldn’t tolerate.

She clenched her teeth, leaning forward to press her entire weight onto him.

"You’re the heavy one, the fattest one of all."

Her childishly stubborn words made Li Mochan laugh lightly, his arms encircling her waist as he teased, "You should cut down on snacks, otherwise, you’ll end up rounder than Baby Two in a few days."

Another hit.

Staring at the man’s teasing mouth, Ye Jiuliang bent down and gave it a nibble, quick as a dragonfly skimming the water.

Thin lips slightly in pain, Li Mochan didn’t get annoyed but instead laughed, his deep laughter becoming more uninhibited and assertive.

"Hahaha."

A cornered rabbit will bite, yet his little wolf cub, when cornered, would bite him.

"Hey, hey, don’t treat us like we’re invisible, okay? Isn’t it cold lying on the ice?" Feng Yi skated back in a circle and saw the two who had already forgotten about the competition, his face filled with black lines.

These two were simply too much. Was their presence really that insignificant?

Ye Jiuliang untied his scarf and steadied himself to his feet.

Li Mochan sat up, his coat coated with fine ice chips.

He extended his hand toward Ye Jiuliang, waiting for her to pull him up.

The usually aloof Master Li was actually sitting on the ground, acting coquettishly.

Feng Yi rubbed the goosebumps on his arms, his inner monologue couldn’t stand it.

Meeting the smile in her eyes, Ye Jiuliang snorted coldly, "Let Feng Yi pull you up."

How dare he compare her roundness to big baby’s, he was asking for it.

With that said, she turned and glided away, her figure graceful and light.

Feng Yi chuckled stealthily, his peripheral vision caught by a certain someone’s deadly glare, and he laughed nervously.

"This isn’t my fault, why are you glaring at me."

This place was dangerous; he needed to make a quick getaway.

On the other side, Ji Mingqian was teaching Jiang Yisheng how to skate.

On the music front, Jiang Yisheng was a genius, but when it came to coordination, he was really just a block of wood.

"Try spinning in a circle." Ji Mingqian slowly let go, and without the support, Jiang Yisheng immediately panicked, grabbing onto Ji Mingqian’s sleeve tightly.

"No, no, I can’t spin, don’t let go."

Jiang Yisheng’s face was pale, skates on his feet, and his legs were not obeying him.

Ji Mingqian couldn’t help but laugh, "If you just stand still like this, you’ll definitely not learn. Falling a couple times should help you learn faster."

"..."

Falling a couple of times helps learn faster?

Was he deceiving him or tricking him?

"Forget it then, I won’t learn." Jiang Yisheng decisively gave up and turned to sit back on the bench.

His feet had barely healed; he didn’t want to fall again.

"What’s there to be afraid of?" Ji Mingqian pulled him back, his wrist exerting slight force, not letting him escape.

"What’s there to be afraid of in ice skating," he said while pulling him to skate in circles without slowing down.

"Of course, you’re not afraid when you know how." Jiang Yisheng’s legs went weak, and he squatted down as he was dragged in circles.

"I really can’t learn, slow down..."

Ji Mingqian looked down at the person gripping his wrist tightly, his lips curving into a hearty smile.

"Jiang Yisheng, how can you be so timid, even kids five or six years old skate better than you."

Without waiting for a response, Ji Mingqian pulled Jiang Yisheng around the rink, skating back and forth in circles.

After two laps, Jiang Yisheng’s color gradually improved, and he slowly stood up, yet he still clutched onto Ji Mingqian’s arm, afraid of being flung away.

"Jiang Yisheng, I’m letting go now." Ji Mingqian glanced at him and unexpectedly let go.

"Hey..."

Jiang Yisheng’s face turned pale, instinctively trying to grab Ji Mingqian’s hand, but he caught air instead.

Teetering and tottering, he lost balance and fell to the ground.

The first reaction was that it truly freaking hurt.

"Jiang Yisheng, are you okay?" Ji Mingqian ran over and reached out to pull him up.

Jiang Yisheng shook his head and lifted his hand to rub his sore shoulder and arm.

"Did you get hurt anywhere from the fall?" Seeing his furrowed brows, Ji Mingqian examined him carefully and then directly reached out to pull at his collar.
