Chapter 380, Something is wrong (4th update)
The mist dispersed, and a private island stood resolutely with high-rise buildings piercing the skies, a clear indication of inhabitants.
Sunlight sprinkled on the azure sea, like it was coated with specks of shattered silver.
Threads of sea breeze swept in through the window, yet failed to dissipate the oppressive atmosphere in the meeting room.
Around the elongated rosewood table, the four from Wei Bei sat facing each other, occasionally glancing at the man at the head of the table.
"Master, the Dells Organization’s base has been completely destroyed. The people we sent to the Desert of Hell for reconnaissance two days ago have yet to report back. There’s a possibility they were captured by folks from the Dells side," Wei Xi said with a heavy expression.
"The terrain in the Desert of Hell is too complex. With the Dells in the shadows and us in the open, rashly moving in would only be to our disadvantage."
What’s most crucial is that the Dells have someone supporting them from behind, and this person is rather familiar with the inner terrain of the Desert of Hell. Otherwise, relying solely on their own, the Dells would have perished in the Desert of Hell long ago.
Li Mochan raised his cool eyebrows, eyes glinting with icy sharpness, and his low, chilly voice reverberated, "Wei Bei and Wei Xi stay here. Wei Dong and Wei Nan come with me, prepare the plane, we depart in an hour."
"Yes."
As the words fell, the mobile phone on the table suddenly began to vibrate with a "buzz buzz."
Li Mohan’s gaze lowered to the phone, his stern visage softening as he saw the note saying "wait for me."
He picked up the phone and stood to walk outside.
Once he had left, Wei Xi’s mouth instantly wouldn’t stay put.
He looked towards Wei Bei and asked curiously, "Was that a call from the lady?"
Wei Bei gave him a look that seemed to say "are you stupid?" and retorted, "Do you think the master would smile for anyone else’s call?"
Joking aside, it was rare enough for him not to wear a cold face.
"I thought the master would bring the lady along this time." Disregarded, Wei Xi didn’t care—he was a "good kid" who didn’t sweat the small stuff.
"Speaking of which, it seems like only Wei Dong has never seen the lady."
Off to the side, the long-silent Wei Dong met the gazes of the other three, and a crack appeared on his expressionless face.
"What are you looking at me for?"
"Wei Dong, what do you think of the lady?" Wei Bei asked with curiosity.
After a moment of thought, Wei Dong replied, "She’s skilled."
Besides that one time he had crossed hands with Ye Jiuliang at Mo Garden, he knew very little about her.
However, he was quite confident in his master’s judgment.
"Wei Nan, what’s with that look? Don’t you trust the lady?" Wei Xi noticed the silent figure beside him and asked in a low voice.
Wei Nan, chin propped on his hand and pensive, said, "I always feel like something’s off."
He should have seen Ye Jiuliang somewhere before, but he couldn’t remember where.
"What’s off?" Wei Dong inquired.
Shaking his head, Wei Nan replied, "I can’t put my finger on it."
"Honestly, I’ve always thought the lady is quite interesting," declared Wei Bei.
What mattered was that in both skill and intelligence she matched his master very well.
"Exactly," Wei Xi concurred.
Out in the corridor, the smile never left Li Mohan’s lips.
His deep voice grew even more tender, "Alright, I’ll pick up the tab next time."
"Li Mohan, when are you coming back? I had insomnia last night," Ye Jiuliang lounged by the poolside, her feet kicking the water, lazily soaking up the sun.
At her words, a warm smile flickered in Li Mohan’s eyes, "Soon."
Hearing the sound of water over the phone, he asked, "Why do I hear water?"
"I made a date with a young man to swim by the sea," Ye Jiuliang teased him on purpose.
The deep voice suddenly turned husky, "Little wolf."
"And wearing a bikini," Ye Jiuliang teased, unaffected by the thought of his reaction, "A super spicy one."
"Ye Jiuliang," Li Mochan clenched his phone, his deep and unfathomable eyes gathering storm clouds.
"Needs a little fixing, huh?"
"It’s not yet decided who will fix whom. I’m not talking to you anymore, I’m going to chat with the handsome guy."
Having said that, she promptly hung up his phone.
"..."
Master Li was frustrated.
After putting down the phone, Ye Jiuliang reached out to gently touch the head of her second treasure.
"Second treasure, it’s all because of those idiots from Dells that this happened. Tell me, if Li Mochan doesn’t come back within two days, shall I go look for him, alright?"
"Woof woof woof..." Second treasure howled a few times.
"That settles it, if Li Mochan doesn’t come back, I’ll sneak over and give him a scare," Ye Jiuliang murmured to herself, her red lips forming a mischievous smile.
...
The old iron door was pushed open, creaking sharply.
In the narrow and dilapidated room, a faint scent of blood pervaded the air.
The floor was littered with hay, and several men were bound together, all in uniform black attire, roughly six of them.
Each person’s hands and feet were shackled in iron chains, their heads drooping, eyes closed, clearly unconscious.
A shaft of sunlight filtered in from outside, casting their bloodstained wounds into sharper relief.
Black boots stained with mud stepped on the hay, walking in at a leisurely pace.
The man had blond hair and brown eyes, his tall and imposing figure slightly marred by a thick bandage wrapping his left hand, looking somewhat disheveled.
This was Kodak Dells, the man whom Wei Bei and his team were trying to capture, the leader of the Dells Organization.
He looked down at the unconscious men, a cruel smile flickering across his eyes.
The people from Dark Hall were no match after all, and now they lay in his hands.
"When will they wake up?" Kodak turned to look at his subordinate behind him, asking coldly.
"The drug will last for about another hour, but the people over there said these men should not be touched for now, saying they still have value to us," the subordinate replied, head bowed in respect.
"Should not be touched?" Dells’s face showed annoyance. He had racked his brains to capture them and had nearly lost an arm in the process, and now he was told he couldn’t touch these few men – how was he supposed to intimidate the people from Dark Hall?
"Yes, the people over there said that if we act on our own, they will terminate their cooperation with us," the subordinate continued.
Upon hearing this, Kodak’s face turned stone-cold, his gaze dark and venomous as he glared at the tied-up men, filled with displeasure.
Li Mochan, you wait, for destroying our Dells headquarters, he must have his revenge, a life for a life.
"Where’s that person?"
The subordinate said, "They came here a while ago, took someone away, and then left."
"Took one of them away?" Kodak frowned.
What exactly was that person planning? They captured people from Dark Hall but hesitated to act; what were they really thinking?
"Yes."
"Where did Bei Sen go?" Kodak asked.
"Leader Bei Sen went to the outskirts, he said he was looking for something to eat."
Upon hearing this, Kodak immediately got angry and shouted irritably, "This madman, even at a time like this he thinks of pleasure, he’ll drag us down sooner or later."
Looking at the men on the ground who hadn’t woken up, Kodak left reluctantly.

In the verdant courtyard, a stage was set up.
Actors in exaggerated costumes were singing and performing on the stage, their voices melodious and captivating, presenting a unique charm all their own.
