Chapter 409. I’ll leave the wish for you to make (first update)

Hearing this, Li Mohan didn’t insist. He threw away the socks, wrapped his large hand around her feet, and warmed them with the heat of his palms.

His deep voice asked, "Do you want me to make you some supper?"

She didn’t eat much in the evenings, and even her favorite fried chicken drumsticks were only nibbled on a couple of times before she stopped.

Ye Jiuliang shifted her body and rested her head on his lap, murmuring, "I don’t want to eat."

Li Mohan chuckled lowly, his fingertips stroking her cheek, "Then what do you want to do?"

Ye Jiuliang curled her lips, suddenly remembering something Gu Xinuo had mentioned on the phone.

Grabbing his hand, Ye Jiuliang suddenly became spirited, "I heard there’s a meteor shower tonight, let’s go watch it on the rooftop?"

"A meteor shower?" Li Mohan raised an eyebrow, "You don’t believe that, do you?"

Did she really believe in something as naive as wishes coming true under a meteor shower?

Seeing the disdain in his eyes clearly, Ye Jiuliang huffed, "What’s wrong with liking meteor showers?"

"Not feeling bad anymore?" Li Mohan looked at her with an amused smile.

Ye Jiuliang curved her lips, "You hold me."

"What’s the reward?" he asked.

Ye Jiuliang lifted her hand, hooked it around his neck, and kissed his lips, "Are you satisfied now?"

"Barely," Li Mohan hooked his lip.

He grabbed a down coat and wrapped her up tightly.

It was deep into the night, and the rooftop was dim.

The sea breeze hit my face, cold and biting.

Ye Jiuliang hunched her neck and cuddled into Li Mohan’s embrace.

Frozen like a dog.

The spacious rooftop was desolate, with only a long bench in sight.

Li Mohan sat on the bench, with her nestled in his arms.

"Shall we go back?" Li Mohan looked down at the person curled up in his arms. His voice was dipped in a drunken mirth that spilled from his lips.

"No," Ye Jiuliang’s nose was slightly red, "I want to watch the meteor shower."

Li Mohan held her hand, his lips curving into a beautiful arch.

Time slipped by silently, as sparse stars gradually hid behind clouds, and the awaited meteor shower showed no sign of activity.

Li Mohan glanced at his watch. It was almost three in the morning.

He looked down at the person in his arms. The one who had insisted on watching the meteor shower had fallen asleep unaware.

"Little wolf cub," he reached out and touched her fair little face, calling softly.

Ye Jiuliang murmured and pushed his hand away, sleeping soundly.

Suddenly, a meteor streaked swiftly across the night sky, its dazzling brilliance vanished in an instant, captured in the depth of his dark eyes before the night returned to its tranquil state.

Li Mohan’s eyes gleamed with amusement as he gently pecked her rosy lips.

Little rascal, I’ve watched the meteor shower for you.

I’ll leave the wishing to you.

...

After leaving the auction house, Wei Nan and his group went straight to the underground parking via the elevator.

As soon as they stepped out of the elevator, a sinister killing intent began to stir in the shadows.

Wei Dong and Wei Nan exchanged a glance in secret, walking towards their car without a sound.

Just as their hands touched the car door, a group of people in black surged forward from the darkness.

The man leading them was the gray-clothed man they had encountered in the Desert of Hell.

"We meet again, gentlemen," his voice was cold, laced with a hint of disdain.

Wei Nan dodged the incoming poison dart and looked sharply at the gray-clothed man.

The man laughed brashly, arrogantly declaring, "If you just come with us quietly, I might spare the lives of the others."

"Sorry, but none of you are leaving today," Wei Nan said calmly.

The man in grey’s face turned black, "Delusional fool."

"Those words, ’delusional fool,’ should really be sent your way."

A cold laugh echoed from all directions as the man in grey looked around with a dark gaze.

In the dim light, only a vague afterimage could be seen flashing past.

Suddenly, a slender figure stood beside Wei Nan, her hand casually in her pocket, her delicate brows and eyes exuding a contemptuous aura.

"How are you... still alive?" The man in grey’s smug smile was gone, his eyes showing his astonishment as he looked at the woman who had appeared out of nowhere.

Ye Jiuliang was still alive, which meant Li Mochan...

With this thought, the man in grey looked around nervously, trying to find Li Mochan.

"Looking for my Li Mochan?" Ye Jiuliang asked with amusement, her fingertip moved slightly, releasing odorless powder into the air.

Hearing this, the man in grey also realized that Li Mochan must have escaped calamity and stared malevolently at Ye Jiuliang, "Last time you were lucky to escape, but this time, your lives will stay here."

"Make your move..."

He hadn’t finished his menacing words before a wave of weakness swept over him, and the man in grey fell to his knees, his body devoid of strength.

"Thud—"

The other men in black surrounding them fell to the ground, one after another, unconscious.

Seeing all his subordinates down, the man in grey showed a look of shock, glaring viciously at Ye Jiuliang as he tried to summon his energy, "You..."

"That’s right, it was my doing," Ye Jiuliang admitted openly, her red lips curled in a smug smile.

"You won’t get a word out of me," the man in grey spat through clenched teeth.

As he spoke, he pressed his lips tightly together, a hint of resoluteness flashing in his eyes.

Not good.

Ye Jiuliang’s cold eyes paused for a moment, and she rushed forward.

But no matter how fast she was, she was still a step too late.

Black blood spilled from the corner of his mouth as the man in grey fell to the ground, his eyes wide staring in the direction of Wei Nan and the others.

Ye Jiuliang felt for his breath; he was already gone.

Dammit.

All the calculations and yet, I missed one vital move.

"Madam, what should we do now?" Wei Dong looked at the grey-clad man lying dead on the ground, frowning.

Although the man in grey seemed like the type who feared death, the fact that he chose suicide over revealing his master indicates that their master must be a formidable character.

"Take these people back," said Ye Jiuliang coldly, glancing at the unconscious men in black on the ground.

"And check their mouths for hidden poison sacs."

She refused to believe that she couldn’t pry a single clue from their mouths.

"Understood," Wei Dong nodded, comprehending her intent.

By the time they returned to the Dark Hall, the sky was already dark.

Before dinner, Ye Jiuliang had Wei Xi take her to the dungeon.

The damp floor was littered with a group of men in black, bound together, their hidden weapons all removed by Wei Nan.

Seeing Ye Jiuliang arrive, Wei Nan put down the poison dart in his hand and stepped forward to meet her.

"Did they talk?" Ye Jiuliang glanced at the now conscious men in black and asked in a flat voice.

Wei Nan shook his head, "They are Dead Warriors."

Dead Warriors undergo strict training, and getting them to open their mouths wouldn’t be easy.

Ye Jiuliang asked, "Are they all mute?"

"Two of them are not," Wei Nan replied.

Based on the fabric of their clothes, those two were different from the rest of the men in black; their status was likely higher, possibly the right-hand men of the man in grey.

Ye Jiuliang’s eyes swept across, pausing on a black-clothed figure bound separately.

Stretching her legs, Ye Jiuliang walked over leisurely.

The sound of her footsteps, methodical and unhurried, with a strong rhythm, each step seemed to tread on the hearts of the men in black.
